  • Moon Knight has just introduced us to the world of Egyptian Gods--but how are they different from the other gods in the MCU? We have the Norse Gods, the Eternals--even Thanos achieved a level of godhood. But there is another oft-forgotten god in the MCU: Bast. This is god worshipped by Wakandans, who led them to vibranium, and gave them the keys to the afterlife.
In this video, we explain all the similarities between bast and Khonshu--namely, they're both Egyptian gods--and explain how all of this can lead to the resurrection of Erik Killmonger in the MCU.

0:00 Black Panther and Moon Knight Connection
    2:30 Is Khonshu an Eternal?
    5:23 Wizards?
8:10 Nope, Khonshu and Bast are Aliens--Here's Why
12:24 Why Black Panther is Bast's Avatar
In the show Moon Knight, ancient Egyptian gods like Ammit and Konchoo are able to choose human beings to perform their will on earth. They endow the humans with some of their energy and powers, and they people change physically to take on their form-these beings are called avatars. Now an avatar is a representation of some greater power-and believe it or not, we have already seen an Egyptian avatar in the MCU-the Black panther.
Think about it. The Wakandans worship an Egyptian god-Bast. Bast gave the first prophet a vision that led him to the heart shaped herb, which gives people powers. So the legacy of the black panthers was born. Generations of humans began to act as the avatar of Bast, and in return they were given the supernatural ability to live on after their deaths and communicate with the living.
Now all of this is pretty cool, and it means that potentially the events of Moon Knight can lead into Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, and the return of certain characters from the dead. But to understand this connections, first we have to understand what exactly these Egyptian gods are-then we can know the extent of their powers.
With the release of Moon Knight, Egyptian gods are being introduced into the lore of the MCU. We already have previous god-like figures in the MCU - the Norse gods, the Eternals, and others come to mind. But seeing the Egyptian gods and their distinct powers finally being revealed brings to mind the questions: what exactly are these gods and where do they come from?
We’ve seen several definitions of what it means to be referred to as a god
And we’re not going to be talking about the gods that are worshipped in modern day, like the super best friends [south park clip] We know that Kamala Khan is a practicing Muslim and Steve Rogers says "there’s only one god ma'am, and he doesn’t look like that," but we’re going to be talking about the old gods to figure out what these Egyptian gods are, and why they are meddling in human affiars. See, we think that Falcon puts it best when he says”
These are the fundamental categories of higher powers within the MCU, who we see call themselves “gods” -Androids, Wizards, and Aliens.
Now the idea of Androids being called gods does seem pretty scary future cyber punky. But, chronologically the first real sighting of “gods” for the humans were the Eternals.
They were created by the celestial Arishem the Judge in the World Forge, which looks to be either a small planet, or a star like NIdavellir. Arishem specifically says, basically stating that they are humanoid robots, ergo Androids.
Throughout history, the Eternals traveled around the world to areas that had no protection , starting in 5000 BC, Mesopotamia to the fall of the Aztec Empire.
They used their powers to nurture human society, which made ancient humans deify- Gilgamesh in Mesopotamia, Kingo in Babylon, Makkari in Rome, Druig in the Celtic lands, Sprite in Europe, and Thena, Phastos, Ikaris, Ajak, Sersi all in Greece.
But, there were two places that did not need their powers or protection - Scandinavia and Africa. Scandinavians already had the Norse gods to protect them, and Wakanda had Bast-but more on both of them a little later.
The Eternals steered clear of these areas, but they were definitely aware of their fellow almighty interlopers. Kingo even mentions
Now, the Egyptian gods could be Androids like the eternals. The Egyptians had similar processes of deification and had similar pantheons like the Greeks, where most of our Eternals were worshiped. See, the Egyptian gods have agents who perform their will on earth. In ancient Egypt, these were cultists, like the group that follows Harrow.

I personally think the MCU Egyptian gods including Bast are interdimensional beings like Dormammu and here's why: they haven't appeared physically on Earth. Dormammu worked thru his worshippers, granting them powers or lending the Dark Dimension energies to others like the Ancient One. But Dormammu never actually comes to our dimension because he is, as stated, not compatible. Bast and Khonsu are the same, incompatible with our dimension but capable of lending their energies or directly communicating with their avatars. That same incompatibility is what causes or increases Marc Spector's mental problems because this interdimensional being is dwelling in his head. The Black Panthers don't have this same problem with mental health because Bast only shows them visions and doesn't speak directly to them or uses the dead avatars to speak thru to the living avatar. Vibranium is an alien mineral that, like the Asgardian uru, can channel all kinds of energy including magic which maybe what gave Bast the conduit to speak to the first Black Panther without driving him mad.
This also explains why the Egyptian gods didn't intervene with Thanos and the Snap...they can't directly affect the MCU dimension because they're incompatible and don't dwell there.

Heimdahl is interesting. he appears to able to see the universe more objectively than others. He sees faster than light can travel, or at least that's what I've come to believe... whenever heimdahl sees an event unfolding he sends Thor through a wormhole to that location in real time. If that location were billions of light-years away he would send Thor to the location to late which means he sees the universe quite differently than you or I. I believe the dark magic to align with therhetical physics ideas presented in Rick and Marty. in particular the idea of pocket dimensions full of life providing unlimited power to Rick's spaceship. I believe the stones are entangled to each multiversal version. of themselves. similarly I think they can imbue and entangle with other objects and beings such as wanda vision Monica Tony etc. the dark magic appears to be aligned with the idea presented by the ancient one. she pulls from universes that are malevolent because they are a dimension in which one facet of the infinity collection is missing. such as Dormammu not having time in his "dimension" or linear reality in which the big bang happened differently. Dormammu and Ego share the same ideology domination overall and singular uniformity. something they also share with ultron. just an observation that seems distantly relevant.
my point being the ancient one siphoned this energy from dormammu dimension and was able to keep from aging through reality thanks to the dark dimension. something I assume the asgardians must also be utilizing to live longer than humans. It's apparent the rainbow bridge is imbued with the power the stones possess and the very atmosphere and environment of asgaard. it appears to exist within its own spacetime... like Sakaar.
I'm not definitely saying anything for sure. I'm just pointing out the correlations between the overarching narrative I've caught onto. whether there is a connection remains to be seen. I'm utilizing moments on screen to justify my observations but honestly the game seems to change from movie to movie. such as the correlation of the power stone and gods of Egypt and Bast the panther God and the realm of death. There's also another realm. the realm Thanos goes to that is orange and seems to be associated with the soul stone. the question I have is what's the difference. The TVA also seems to harness the power of the infinity stones and also appears to be a primarily Earth entity. as though Earth itself cracked multiversal time travel and is the main nexus of all universes.
A lot of this leads me to conclude that it is quite possible that the origins of Asgard is MidGaurd. the creation of "new asgaard" is actually a recreation of old Asgaard from another plane of existence. My assumption is Ragnarock has only just begun and soon new Asgaard will be ripped from Earth's surface. most likely in secret wars. and eventually be set up within its own universe again at the beginning of existence to establish itself again as protector of the nine realms. " I swear to you brother the sun will shine on us again." Everything said and done by Loki is a smoking gun gun to a much grander mechanation at work. The duality behind Lokis wordplay is that he has seen a future in which all things end. and he has seen a universe in which all things begin. Which means the loki series is actually showing us how Loki escapes Thanos as well as foreshadowing a much bigger threat yet to come. That Loki actually has an altruistic side and motive and all the characters are merely pawns to his overall objective. I believe Loki lives in chaos on the timeline because he can hide from the TVA. He also knows his actions were responsible for the formation of the Avengers. He may have intentionally killed Phil Coleson just to unite them and prepare them to get over the first hurtles Ultron and Thanos. Thanos also appears to be playing the same game of time travel. he has clearly come back from the snap that Tony sacrificed his life for. most likely why Thanos is obsessed with the idea of destiny. he knows his future self succeeded in wiping out half of existence for his mistress death. most likely played by Hela shortly after her demise at Surturs hand.
whoa I got way off track. what was it again? dark magic that's right. it appears certain stones can loop to linear timelines causing temporal paradoxes and timeloops.
such as the stone Loki brings from one potential future in which the tesseract was entangled with the mind stone while in the staff. Loki brought the mind stone from the future which gave Tony a vision of a parallel reality in which the avengers lost. but against who or what we don't yet know. it's quite possible that Tony was watching a variant of himself memories of battling another Earth in another universe and these avengers even teamed up with Thanos to stop that version of Earth. similar to how Multiverse of madness is being set up. may in fact be linked. idk. but all these physics and mechanics at work are all supported by real physics and theorhetical stuff scientists throw around here in our reality. such as the idea that the wormhole that was opened by Loki actually connected to a alternate future in which Tony was actually fighting... himself under Thanos guidance. maybe who Tony actually nuked and killed was a future avengers who knew they needed to start the battle of new York to ensure that the sacred timeline was set on a course in which Sykvie killed he who remains and thereby recreate Iron Lad who is most likely responsible for the end of the multiversal war and becomes he who remains through keeping his purity to the end.
How does this all play into the idea of dark magic? All of it plays I to dark magic. I'd say dark magic is like the cosmic background radiation. In wandavision she used it to manipulate reality and play with probability using a facet of its full spectrum. even Tonies new Arc Reactor appears to be a battery of infinite storage potential in which tesseractual (universes within universes) energy can be stored. This seems to be how the tva is able to operate around the timeline. the science is built upon tonies work that he built upon Pyms work. etc etc. which is part of what kang does he manipulates and isolates timelines pertinent to his own existence and ups the timescale on manufacturing the tech he needs to do his job of pruning the timeline. he does all this with his tempad that like the mind stone records all information from any linear timeline it's been through.
dark magic in short introduces an element of entropy to the timeline that isn't something a stable univers of determinism can account for. which causes unpredictable branches and paradoxes that may be unstable and destined for destruction on an escalated timescale. this may be the very reason why other kangs are so adamant upon the conquering of other realities. it is out of desperation and the egos want to continue existing. something we all share with our villains. Which you'll notice is one of the Main points marvel and feige keep driving home. we're all driven by love and while subjectively speaking our actions are altruistic the ramifications of our egos impact is we naturally make enemies. something Tony himself sought to change.
sorry I'm a long winded geek/nerd who spends his time reading comics learning physics and writing critical essays utilizing subjective lenses each director introduces its more than a hobby it's kind of a passion. My theories usually get something right but I dont usually find out until like 3 years later.

    • @sneakernickel
      @sneakernickel 2 года назад +6

That is true, my friend. However, in the MCU, he is basically an avatar of himself. The power was always there, it was just unrealized. So he was basically an avatar by holding the hammer "with a fraction of the power," until he realized his full potential. We may see a better representation of an avatar of Thor when Jane wields the hammer in the next movie. It also looks like Marvel is getting ready to rest the character of Thor for a bit. Rune King Thor is supposed to show up in Love and Thunder, so I have a feeling he'll be taking the Thorsleep. I'm not sure if they're gonna do the whole merge with Eternity and then reboot him, but my theory is they'll rest him for a few years.

Love the theory. American Gods is probably my favorite book, too, so I was glad to see it mentioned when my mind started going towards "Hey, that sorta sounds like..." It'll be a delicate needle to thread, but Marvel's been doing pretty well at getting their stories integrated cohesively lately.

I'd love to see a video from a Sociologist (or some related field) who would describe what the actual MCU world and people would be like given everything that has happened. The Blip, the dead Celestial halfway stuck in the Indian Ocean, Norse Gods, verified proof of Alien Life, insane technological advancements, etc., etc., etc. yet the _people_ of Earth kind of act just like the people of our earth behavior. I get _why_ the comics and movies are this way, because the stories are about the heroes and villains, and it's easier to just imagine the backdrop of earth to be pretty much identical to what we have today, but there is just no way it'd be like that.

I like your theory, but to me I like to think of the 'Marvel Gods' as the equivalent of quantum mechanics and general relativity. Both fundamental yet at odds with each other to be the true underlying law of the universe. Which then reminds of a quote I once heard "That the universe is under no obligation to be controlled by one thing"

I love that the MCU is focusing on the Gods of the MCU and the supernatural side. Thor is always top 3 though for me. I think Moon Knight will definitely be tied to black panther 2. I think all of the MCU tv shows are pre-cursors for future MCU movies. ---> Also just to point out: the black panther dies to receive bast powers in the ancestral plane, similar to moon knight/marc Spector dies to receive the powers from khonshu.

Bast cant originate from vibranium because vibranium comes from Celestials. Also the reason that someone gets the “power of Thor” is because Thors hammer has the God storm inside it. Also there is a metaphysical component, at least in comics.

I feel like the whole "field of reeds" allegory is setting up an Egyptian pantheon with Bast in it. Because if you notice, Bast has some sort of connection to the "spiritual realm". Which is basically a kind of afterlife-landscape scenario. Similarly probably all the other Egyptian gods will have one.

  • @erico6117
    @erico6117 2 года назад

I must say that your theory is very interesting. I’ve never heard such from the other channels. Nevertheless, the avatars makes sense but they as gods being aliens is far fetched. To me and this is strictly my opinion and being a comic fanboy the major spoiler is that those gods not aliens that controlling their avatars and in this matter is moon knight and black panther , they are mostly being introduced as a moderator and not necessity existed in any marvel universe or multiverse. The eternals black panther thor venom and now moon knight is being served as the primary host. The same as just as The Ghost Rider is the host for the devil who act as the moderator. The moderator could and will never interfere. With the exception of The Celestials.
