Moon Knight took the Marvel Cinematic Universe into a new realm of gods and mysticism. The Disney+ series introduced a lot of strange new concepts, so a lot of fans were confused. So we've put together answered to all the plot holes and unanswered questions that the show did not answer.

First we had lots of questions about avatars.
Ivan Beethoven asks “How did Harrow get the cane that Ammit gave to her first avatar and his tattoo in the first place if Ammit was imprisoned and the only way to get those is to be judged by her first?”
Well first of all, you don’t need to be judged by Ammit to get the cane and the tattoo. In fact, Ammit proves this. The first thing she does when she’s released is judge Harrow. As for where the cane and the tattoo came from. Ammit had followers when she was imprisoned. This was normal in ancient Egypt, all the gods had their own cults.
One of Ammit’s cult members was the medjay who left a map to Ammit’s tomb in his sarcophagus. This was what they were hunting for in episode 3. So, I think that Harrow leads a cult that is a direct descendant of Ammit’s cult. Or, that he cult members buried the cane and Harrow found it centuries later. Point is, before she was imprisoned, she placed a portion of her power in the cane, and that has been waiting for a man like Harrow for thousands of years.
Our Matt Singer had a question about Harrow: “are we supposed to think Harrow is dead now?” You know, one the one hand, I see why Disney plus wouldn’t want to show a man get his head blown off. But, in the MCU we do get a lot of offscreen, fakeout deaths.
And to be honest, I never doubted that Harrow died, because Khonshu wanted him dead. But now I’m wondering if there was value in keeping him alive after all. Khonshu might have needed him for something. I hope he’s alive, because my number one pet peeve is how comic book movies kill off great villains that have more stories to tell
It could also be that a portion of Ammit’s power is still in Harrow, because their minds are melded together. This could explain how he survives. Which brings me to a question of Swagato Sakar, regarding Avatars and their regenerative abilities. They asked why Harrow was able to kill the others gods’ avatars so easily. My take on this is that not every god gives people the git of fighting. Like Hator is the god of music and love. No good in a fight. Whereas Konshu gives marc the gift of his healing armor.
Also, Ammit is badass. She eats the souls of the unworthy. Once these people were weighed against the cane, they were judged unworthy and died. Harrow tried this with marc, but his DID kept the scales form balancing.
This also got us thinking: if Ammit’s mortal form is killed, does she die? They don;t say so in the show [clip]. And it doesn’t seem right that these ancient beings could be killed just because they were tied to flesh on earth. I think that this more than likely severs a god’s connection with earth, so they can never travel here from the overvoid. Or, maybe it’s like a you die in the matrix situation
J on RUclips brings up a good point: Why was Layla already so good at using Tawerets powers on her very first try. Okay, so let’s compare this with Steven, who was…not as good on his first try. Or his second. Whereas Layla was already a badass who had been on adventures with Marc. Taweret probably spoke to her as well, guiding her through how to do new things like flying.
Diego Ruiz on Twitter asks: Why Harrow didn’t have armor as the avatar of Ammit? Marc, Steven and Layla have armors or outfits as avatars?
Because Diego, he was never actually Ammit’s avatar. He acquired the cane while she was imprisoned. After she was released, they met for the first time. By this point, Ammit didn;t even need an avatar. She deputized her whole cult to start judging people.
Now the costumes in the show looked pretty awesome. The mummy-inspired suit with the crescent cape was a cool concept for Moon Knight, and Mr .Knight looked pretty good for a [psycho colonel sanders]. And I especially loved Layla’s avatar costume. Taweret wasn’t lying when she said.
Maximilan Marvel on twitter also asks “Was Layla's scarab outfit & powers a product of the Scarab Compass (which she took with her from the Alexander's Tomb), a result of being avatar'ed by Taweret, or all of the above?

In our actual Egyptian mythology, Khonshu was also considered to be a god of healing. This explains why Moon Knight could heal from fatal wounds while the other avatars could not.
Khonshu has the head of a bird, and the plague doctor mask also look like a bird's head. A nice coincidence!

Good catch. Plus the Winged Scarab, like she is wearing, was also a symbol of rebirth used in Ancient Egyptian funerary rights, which helps connect the symbol to Taweret since her job is helping souls transition into the next life.
Regarding the followers not noticing Layla. I thought this too, but they actually answer this question and I found it in a re-watch. In the tomb Layla takes out a follower and we see Arthur react to the noise. If you watch very carefully you'll see that the follower was wearing the outfit Layla ends up wearing when she follows them. And that outfit included a hood and mask. So, for all intents and purposes, she looks just like the follower she took out and left behind as she's wearing exactly what they were before she knocked them out.

I don’t think the mental hospital is a coincidence. Marc is a very troubled person and may have been a patient at the hospital before, which would explain why he imagined it in the afterlife. He didn’t make up the hospital, he was remembering it.
You misunderstood, in this video the point was comparing the two different mental hospital shots (real and imagined) on why they look exactly alike. Answer was because of budget constraints
He was in Putnam hospital in Chicago, IL in the comics, too.
Here's the thing about plot holes in the MCU. Plot holes happened a lot in the comics as well. However, Stan Lee came up with the "No Prize" to get around that. He allowed any of the readers to fill in the gaps and give their best theory on how to explain the plot holes in question. Any he judged to have merit was given a No Prize and made canon. Viewers/readers theorizing explanations to plot holes is just a long part of Marvel tradition.
And that's the bad thing about western fictional stories
They just make whatever they want.
That's how comics n animations got their popular label of "it's for kids". Because it's so irrational. I mean, yeah it's fiction. But hey at least there are some explanations about things.

Layla wears a scarab costume because it was her father’s idea, and tawerett talked to her father before giving her the costume as she says, “you’re father will be over the moon when he hears this”, after layla agrees to be her avatar, implying she contacted Layla’s father even after leading him through the field of reeds.
If Spidey has a Moon Knight meet up I feel like there's gonna be a bad British accent joke by Spidey(Tom) to Moon (Oscar). Spidey do his best Brit impression to one up Steven and its just Tom's normal lol

One of the 3 Ammit followers had Tut's crown/headgear on his jacket, and the post credits had a QR code for a comic with him.
I think one reason that Marc and Stephen don't recognise Jake as being there too is that Marc made Stephen as a sort of protection mechanism, but then Stephen made Jake as a protection mechanism. So Marc wouldn't be aware of Jake as a result, and Stephen was confused enough about Marc existing, and when he did know Marc existed would naturally just assume it was Marc taking over whenever he blacked out/fell asleep.
That's a good theory, but I jusy need to point something out: it's Steven. With a v 😋
so jake is party of a subsystem in a system? i get the idea youre going for but i dont think that would be the case as i dont think the creators of that show would want to make it that complicated
What I want to know is:
Is Marc/Steven/Jake still all connected to Khonshu? They had a scene where the suit leaves Marc, yet Steven had a suit too during the show even though Marc was the avatar… So now, that means Marc & Steven are unaware that they still have the suits; because of Jake being the existing avatar. I’m guessing season two or whenever we get to see Jake’s “Moon Killer” it’ll answer more or have Marc & Steven address Jake and who he is.
This could go many different ways… Jake Lockley could end up being a villain too in another film or series. Judging by the accent Jake has, he sounds like a New Yorker. They could end up moving over to New York… possible Spider-Man crossover.
Perhaps it’s the body that has the suit and healing powers, but if Marc and Steven believe that they are free then subconsciously they wouldn’t summon the suit. Like how Steven could summon it at any point but didn’t know he could or how to, and maybe off-screen he’s never had any cuts or scrapes that lasted and he just never thought about it (think Unbreakable; the guy never even had a cold and it didn’t strike him as weird until he survived a fatal accident)
Maybe there’d be an event in the future where they get mortally wounded but they heal up, or are caught somewhere dangerous and ‘somehow’ summon the suit, even though they think they had been freed. In that case they would then figure out Khonshu is still in charge, maybe leading them to discover Jake.
Those personalities are manmade.
Khonsu of course still have the pact witj that main protagonist(idk how to call him. Steven mark jake all same person).

Marc, Steven and Jake are the same person. Marc has DID which results in having different personalities, and in the post credit scene of the last episode of Moon Knight Jake Lockley came and killed Harrow.
Khonshu promised to leave only Marc and Steven but he still has Jake with him.
Can someone verify this theory for me
When Mark goes to the asylum, he's wearing a brown shirt, and so is the guy who got his guts ripped out by the mummy. But everyone else was wearing white. Does that mean only the dead people in the asylum wears darker tones. Because I noticed Harrow also had on a different color than the people in his asylum experience as well
When Mark goes to the asylum in episode 4, he's wearing a *white* shirt. Steven wears a dark shirt when he pops out of the sarcophagus. Most likely because it would be hella confusing if you'd put them both in white.
At some point when the get seperated during the trauma flashbacks they switched colours though.
@@Carabas72 If you go back and watch it, look at the scene where he's listening to Layla, and compare their shirt colors. Layla is wearing pure white, Crowley is wearing pure white as well. So are others in the asylum except for the Konshu Bird Lady..... But Mark is wearing a brownish white shirt. So is the guy that got eaten by the mummy, his is darker tho, and so is the Black guy that Layla killed with her necklace.... I get Steven wearing a Blue Shirt tho. Different personality
The dead people in the asylum are people he's killed.

Another take on the the heart thing: After being judged, Mark's heart was replaced inside his chest and he was holding Steven's heart afterwards.
Also, Konshu is a god of healing, so it would make sense that his avatar would be able to heal and the avatars of gods that don't heal wouldn't have that perk
Regarding Layla's Scarab costume, how can you all miss the biggest one of all? The Goddess Tawaret's outfit was brandishing it's own scarab complete with feathery type wings all in full glory of the hippo's breast.

I wonder how Horus's avatar is so weak when horus was often a war or protector deity. Or is that just because the gods vowed not to interfere?
i may be wrong but i think its because the other gods avatars were more for spectating than fight unlike Khonsu who chose a avatar for fighting.

May the Avatars have a little bit influence on the costumes. because when Steven needs the " Suit " he litterally gets a Suit out. And for the Scarab that could be her influence.
Also there's a big scarab on Taweret's actual outfit. However, the real reason (as confirmed by the director) was that Layla wasn't originally going to be Taweret's avatar. She was supposed to be the avatar of Isis, hence why her costume is designed to look like what Isis is normally depicted with. However, they decided during production to switch to Taweret instead because they thought Isis was too serious and boring, and that they could do more with Taweret in the future as she was the type that would irritate the hell out of Layla. Since the Isis costume was already designed/made, they just kept it.
The only MCU reference I caught was a passing reference from Layla about Madripoor. I think it was it was in episode 3

I wonder if a season 2 will be about Marc and Steven realizing and coming to terms with Jake. They’ll realize if they don’t agree to keep being a moon Knight, Konshu will use Jake anyway and there’s nothing Marc and Steven can do about it. Jake will do all kinds violent things and Marc and Steven will want to keep that in check. The only way they can do is they keep being Moon Knight.
in S1E3 the other avatars bound Khonshu to the stone ushabti using a spell. in S1E6 Osiris told Layla that Ammit could be destroyed if she were bound to a mortal form (Harrow). Layla and Marc used that spell to bind Ammit to Harrow so when Harrow was later shot by Jake, Ammit was also killed. I'm sure that kind of information/spell is only given out in truly desperate times (why would the Egyptian gods teach mortals how to kill them). I think Marc/Steven/Jake/Layla will use this bit of knowledge to keep Khonshu in check later on.
Any time khonshu affected the physical world is when Marc or Stephen worked togheter and wanted to help him, u can even see that when Stephen didn't want to fly he wasn't but Marc who was willing too was immediately pulled up

MoM and Moon Knight finale premiered on the same night for me, I was like meh after watching the movie in theaters but was STOKED after watching the MK finale on my way home 😍

Taweret also said she met Layla’s father, so she would have know he called Layla little scarab. So Taweret gave Layla a scarab style costume in honor of her father.
This was so entertaining to watch. Loved seeing most of those loose ends being tied up and I'm always down for more Ryan Arey Moon Knight content.
I also originally had an "issue" with her winged costume after being powered by the "hippo" god....but then i remembered the fact that Mark's suit and Steven's suit are different...meaning you really are given the power conjure up the suit in the image you have yourself. The God who is using you as an avatar more so power your added abilities that are channeled into your suit. So when TAIWAT said she had ideas...she prolly suggested some things and that image in Layla's mind and let her imagination do the specifics
That's a good thought. LAYLA was the one who sort of "thought up" the costume, based on her own identity, which was aligned with being "Little Scarab". Marc would have made a serious choice, hence going with ancestral armor, and Steven being...well, Steven...he thought up a suit when told to "summon the suit".
the thing that kind of worked but made me laugh a bit was that in the las episode the dying avatar tells Layla they need more avatars that are alive right now, and then he dies and Layla become an avatar... keeping the number of alive avatars exactly the same
i just want to point something out, in the video you said that konshu might have become so big because of the full moon, this is probably untrue because in actual egyptian mythologie konshu actually becomes strongest during a crescent moon
In The comics is n The full. But i think he could become giant anytime after realesed. I think he recovers his powers this way, he was banished them imprisioned. When released all his powers (that were contained in The shabit) were released

and there was a wakanda article in a book on Steven's desk in the very beginning of the season
I feel like all these theories regarding Jake are incredibly flimsy. Just because Steven and Mark ignore blatant evidence of Jake's existence doesn't explain why there are no memories of his in the asylum. Especially if you think Mark is aware of him. The hippo said something about truth and sorting out that inner conflict to get the scales to balance.
But they didn´t have to sort anything out with Jake, because he was still inside the sarcophagus.

Screen crush remember what khonshu said “RETURN FROM THE OVERVOID” aka the gods left the earth and are using thier avatars like remote control, only gods you see are the ones who didnt leave and are on earth or the one in the after life
the hippo also has a scarab on her own armor, so may be so easy to WHY she has a scarab on her armor.
I think a good rule of thumb for marvel content from now on is that we actually like seeing new characters doing things instead of old characters or barely tied in ones hijacking a plot that really didn't need them to be there cough Wanda cough
One confusing thing I noticed is how if Steven was the alter meant to live a normal life, why did he front right before his mother came in to beat him in the flashback?
I think this was mainly to demonstrate that Marc developed his DID due to these circumstances. Notice that Marc pulls Steven away from the door as he was never supposed to see that. So I think that Jake fronted after the door was closed.
Jake is the alter that absorbs the violence, and this would make sense why he's the more chaotic of the three.
what happens in the show is not meant to be DID. And it is not meant to be taken as DID, please dont call it DID because that will make people think that its supposed to be DID and it will give them false representation. whats in the show is some magic personality split, not DID.

@@janelleborrowman9745 it is meant to be DID, the comic character eventually developed into having it, the creators (including Oscar Isaac) did research specifically for it, and episode 5 specifically focuses on the trauma that led to Marc Spector developing the disorder. They may not say he has it explicitly, but it is heavily assumed

In regards to the MCU Timeline, others have pointed out that Steven has two books in his collection hinting at a possible point in time--can't name the book titles--one about Wakanda and another about New Asgard.

i also realized something with that suit.. it has little blood stains over it and maybe represents Jake who is the bloody one in the show

The costume designer said they never designed Jake a suit but that if they did it would have been the more standard superhero costume with a black body and face and white cape, armour and adornments

There was one other reference to another MCU property, when Taweret talked about the Ancestral Plane from Black Panther.

That last clip "Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee" reminded me of a run Zanny did of Jedi Knight Fallen Order. I think the quote went like this... "Yeah! Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee... uh oh, he eats both!"
But seriously, I did have some trouble keeping up with who had the scarab between the six episodes.
Also Taweret told Layla she knew her father and led into the field of Reeds, so Taweret would know about the scarab detail and she told Layla she had the idea of her suit already...... So hence the scarab suit
3:10 just before she gets put in Harrows body … it is explained that the spell they use will make her human and thus kill able

Eh, Madripoor is supposed to be a haven for black markets, illicit sales, etc. For centuries. Founded by pirates and such.
So that doesn't really tell us much about the current timeline.
They actually said it they tied Amit to a avatar she would be mortal and konshu also said right after they were bound as one body that killing Harris would kill them both. (Tomb scene before end credits)
They did say in the show that once amit is tied to harrow human form if he dies, she cannot come back. I don't know if they this directly but she will go to the overvoid

His mom was Latina. I read somewhere that DID patients will sometimes have alters that speak different languages. Possibly his mom spoke only Spanish when she was beating him. Often people who speak more than one language will speak their first language when they are in a highly emotional state. Meaning that when Jake was in control of the body he was only hearing Spanish so that is the language he prefers to speak in.
I would love to see more MK in the MCU, but if not, that's fine. It was by far the best MCU Disney + show and can stand on its own as a it's own thing.
I respect your opinion! I agree that this has been the best Disney + show. But I do hope they allow it to exist on its own, at least long enough to establish its story enough to stand out in the mcu. Because I feel some other characters ended up being washed our chariactures of what their stories could have been if they stood alone.
@@cherie..cherry Okay, at this point I could care less what involvement this character has with the greater MCU, based on how bad phase four has been I would prefer that MK stand on it's own just like the show did.
Tauret also has a scarab in her chest and that would be one of the reasons Layla's suit has one as well.

Another good reason why Layla had a scarabs details on her costume is because Tewaret has scarabs clothing as well.
My biggest issue with Moon Knight is that you don't quite know where reality ends and the dream or hallucination begins. In Episode 2 Steven says that he hopes he will be so pumped full of medicines that he will never hear Marc's voice in his head again. In episode 5 (or 6?) Dr Harrow confirms that the first he met was Steven, who went to him voluntarily.
So my idea was that Steven / Marc is just dreaming this whole superhero thing. The jackal was invisible to everybody but them for instance. Dito Khonsu. When they see Tawaret they're drugged again. Did anyone really believe that they had found the place where Alexander the Great was buried? Come on. Khonsu "spirited" them to Egypt at the end of episode 2, but Khonsu is not real. He's a stand-in for Marc's / Steven's mental trouble, that's why he looks like the bird skeleton they throd upon before the cave disaster in their childhood.
However this does not explain why at the mental hospital, they also see Layla, Donna and Crowley - they can't all be sick, can they? Maybe he was hallucinating them, too.
(And why did they drive away in a limousine with the license number "Specter"? Marc is a billionaire playboy in the comics, but not here...)

Plot hole- Khonshu did not need to be trapped in stone at all. There is software applications for stellar progression. You can literally roll back the night sky in the software, no need to actually do it and draw the attention of the other gods.

Harrow said to have been an avatar for Chons, so he might have learned everything about Ammit from him and like the difference between Magneto and Xavier, thought Ammit to be a safer bet. So additionally Harrow is not stupid, so possibly he tricked Chons to let him go..or forced him by commiting to Ammit in some way when he got the staff.
I'm pretty sure Amett said the words "be my avatar" when she made Harrow her avatar in that last episode.
Yea and he for sure got some power from Amett, Either that or he can just casually take a beating from the Moon Knight and be fine.

I think Steven got a heart because Marc acknowledges him. I think it’s about Marc consciously acknowledging him-selves. I think he also knows deep down that there’s someone else inside him, he is in denial. I think he at least knows that there’s someone incredible dangerous inside of him, because he will enter situations in a reckless way that almost seems like he knows he has a wild card deep inside him.
I love how independent the Moon Knight story is so far. Other hero’s tend to see him in imperfect light and think he’s batshit crazy, so I think this is really gonna help establish this more in the future. Marc Spectre is different than everyone else. I think this gives him a potential many don’t have.
Lastly I just wanted to add something I’ve been thinking about. There’s nothing keeping Marc’s mind from developing new personalities as his life gets crazier and crazier.

So, I asked this previously (don't worry I won't judge you 😉), but how come Layla didn't get judged when Harrow and followers encountered the Police/Army in episode 6? It seems unlikely Harrow just focused the energy specifically on those in uniform, and would just judge everyone in a certain radius, Layla included. Surely in Ammits reptilian eyes, she'd be considered unworthy?
I had similar thought about that. But we don't know exactly what is considered a "good life" in Ammit's eyes. Her followers are fine with kids being judged & killed.🤷♀️
Perhaps the scarab compass was magical enough to protect whoever had it from judgement?
I'd love if the MCU started doing some small just one or two people team ups like the comics do. Like in moon knight season 2, they have just one or two episodes where spider man or someone else shows up, helps out and then goes back to their own thing
Since someone pointed out that one of the assassins Marc fights has the Rama Tut insignia on their shirt, perhaps moon knight takes place in one of the other multi-verses and Rama Tut is their Kang variant…
