I actually feel so bad for Zant. He worked for a long time in the twili royal family, and got skipped from being the next heir. He wasn't gonna do anything except throw a little tantrum and then get over it later. But Ganon had to step in and corrupt him to do his bidding giving him seriously bad powers. Even though Zant had the impatience and behaviour of a child, that also means he has the naivety and innocence of one as well. Thats why he was so easily misled by Ganon.
I love his character. Especially how he comes off as a cold, calculating villain, then you find out he's completely insane, as well as having a bit of tragedy in his backstory that drives him to do what he's done. His character makes him unnerving and psychotic, yet to some degree, sympathetic and relatable at the same time. I was expecting some sort of Star Wars level epic duel when I reached Zant. And what I got was so much better.
However he already had no hope, you see what Ganondorf's power can do to some people in other games, they are done for, lost, possessed, never to be the same again
@@maikybravo6108 That just shows how evil Ganondorf really is. You know, I just came to realize something. I'd always found Zant's entire boss sequence to be more thematic than, well, impressive. He's obviously only a pawn to the real big bad, a simple tool, but in his position of power, with how he's toyed with you from the beginning, you'd think him to put up a better fight. Even as he descends into desperation, he never quite appropriately attacks you. He heavily relies on keeping his distance, using the magic he'd been granted. When he dares to approach, he's literally flailing. He's a delegate. He's a royal figure. He's no fighter. It's taken me way too long just how much he relies on Ganon's power to fight for him, and that he's painfully pathetic one-on-one. Without it, fueled only by his vindication for the dishonour he bore, he'd have fallen at the first exchange of swords. He stood no chance against Link.

This is emphasized by the increased tempo and frantic clips of theme from each previous stage, giving a sense of total panic.

I gotta say, I wasn't expecting Zant to go absolutely bananas. I liked his character design to begin with, but after this, I really came to appreciate him as a villain.

And while he may once have had noble cause or greater ambition, all that is left is this mad outburst, full of sound of fury, signifying nothing.
Zant's trump cards were removed from him. He can't bath Midna in light to kill her because Zelda granted her protection (Presumably, the Triforce of Wisdom) and he can't curse Link anymore because the Master Sword banishes curses and has absorbed the power of the Sol to even banish darkness itself. Zant is an usurper in a deeper level than I thought, he not only usurped the throne of the twilight but he also usurped the previous boss fights and their mechanics!
Seldom do I watch other people play games I could play myself, but there’s nothing like watching a part of your childhood with such ease, simple gameplay, 100% nostalgia
So you say Junji Kitajima regretted voicing Zant? I bet he had fun doing so crazy voices on a mic knowing millions of players will here it while laughing, just like how he must've at that time. Imagine how may times they had to redo it just because the craziness made him laugh.
Ok, so this might be a REALLY stupid question, but I don't trust myself to figure it out... Are the people of the Twilight Relm the interlopers who were banished?
@@CM_CHESS Actually its implied by the symbols in the architecture and clothing that the Interlopers - now Twili - where a BUNCH of different races and people throughout Hyrule who where all banished together. You can see a warped Gerudo crest on Zant's own front. Their are hints to e v e r y race.
It seems, over the years, the descendants were calmer than the interlopers that were banished. As Zant mentions before the fight, they let go of their desires. These current Twili probably don't deserve to be banished, but they don't see it as being banished since they've made the realm their home.

Ah, Zant. One of my favorite villains and followers of Ganon. He may have been “used” by the Demon King, but he is a follower of Ganon until the end of time. And Hyrule Warriors and its rereleases (Despite being non-canon) shows Ganon treating him as an actual follower, even having him fight alongside Ghirahim. Even in the VA, he struck up a friendship with Hyness (Cause, you know, both of them are devoted to a higher evil, they may seem calm but are actually insane, and their fighting styles are erratic, but deadly).
Zant was such a good boss fight, you can't beat the staple ganondorf fight, but his boss fight was almost all the boss fights together, their has never been a boss fight as unique as Zants was.
My friend just reminded me that Ganondorf appears out of a fart cloud in Twilight Princess and i didnt believe him, but sure enough, the Demon King does indeed appear out of a big, spherical fart cloud.
The 'Insane' Zant cutscene simply lives through time & the ages. Throw any game's cutscene at this - there's something about this one that is just mesmerising & Iconic.
Zant swimming... Something I've never ever seen before since I use the claw-shots on him (& yes, I yell "Get over here!" while doing so) & quickly hit him a few times with the sol powered Master Sword.
@3:55 the way he slowly starts floating up, and then the battle theme begins will ALWAYS be super cool to me. by far one of the best bosses in legend of Zelda games.
Watching that second stage when Zant is stomping on the platform and Link puts on the metal boots... Having played BotW I can only think of using that to jump higher, and shoot multiple arrows mid-air in bullet time
Zant before the Twili Palace was shown to be a calm, intimidating and almighty villain, worthy of being the throne usurper. And they all threw it aside here making him a power hungry kid who has anger issues, throwing tantrums.
1:36 Link: Enough is enough! Me and Midna have had it with your careless actions! Midna: Yeah! Link is absolutely right! Your evilness has done too much! Zant: Too much?! I'll tell you both what's too much! Trying to prove yourselves that you're smarter than me and attempting to ruin my plan! Well, finally my waiting has paid off, and no hand-me-down couple of Intruders is gonna MESS IT UP FOR ME NOW!!!

Zant is an usurper in a deeper level than I thought, he not only usurped the throne of the twilight but he also usurped the previous boss fights and their mechanics!
he's a lovely and handsome man. i support him
your profile pic makes this comment leagues better
I agree
Wait, your profile pic, in it.....................GIRAHIM?!
I support him to heck I want him in Smash Bros
Zant and Majora would get along really well. Imagine Zant wearing the mask containing the crazed god…. utterly terrifying.
I just realized Zant is pretty much just Shadow Gannon with a different name lol
0:53 when switching camera angle zant's helmet changes from open to close and open again
冥王之翼 it does wow
Cuz Link straight up knocked the teeth outta him.
@Khan Afridi That was saliva
@Khan Afridi It would suite is personality though, since he is so power hungry
I think you actually found a small error, but at least we can barely see it lol
Even when I was younger, I was glad he didn't turn out a generic villain and was actually psycho.
Zant's fighting style is basically what happens when all of your direction and tutoring is taken from shounen anime.
Not even that lol, Zant’s fighting style is literally the equivalent of a man sized toddler swinging around kitchen knives for shits and giggles.
The one dislike is Zant
It's one of the best battles in any LoZ game imo. I love how there are throwbacks to the boss fights that you've done so far.
Idk about y'all but I've had breakdowns in my room like this
I have mental breakdowns worse than this on a daily basis.
Seldom do I watch other people play games I could play myself, but there’s nothing like watching a part of your childhood with such ease, simple gameplay, 100% nostalgia
Best side villain in legend of Zelda
Zant=1 like Ghirahim=1 reply!
ITS POLL TIME
Adam White hi
GHIRAHIM
Fabulous
Been gathering Fairies to bring Ghirahim back.
y'all really sleeping on Ghirahim,,
One of the best Zelda villains. Only second to Majora's mask.
The poor person who made the sounds for zant...
That was me, all I had to do was snort 16 pounds of crack
So you say Junji Kitajima regretted voicing Zant? I bet he had fun doing so crazy voices on a mic knowing millions of players will here it while laughing, just like how he must've at that time. Imagine how may times they had to redo it just because the craziness made him laugh.
I beat this game when i was younger and jesus christ this scene/boss fight scared the shit out of me. such a cool fight.
When Darth Vader turns out to be Jar Jar Binks
"Nothin' personal, kid"
The music is always so on point in all Zelda games, I always really appreciate it!
Ok, so this might be a REALLY stupid question, but I don't trust myself to figure it out... Are the people of the Twilight Relm the interlopers who were banished?
They're the descendants of the interlopers.
@@CM_CHESS I think you meant the yiga clan and the interlopers are different thing though .
Not directly the interlopers but the descendants of the interlopers.

I support this comment. I feel it
Damn, based.
Zant forgot to take his Ritalin that day.
That comment hits hard I was on it when I played this I was like 5
@@5Scarz I'm more surprised that you were able to understand and play this game at that young of age.
@@43rdblue17 I got stuck in the story because I didn't really understand it I also didn't know how to read yet Soo I couldn't properly follow the story
@@5Scarz That would be difficult lol how far along in the game did you make it?
@@43rdblue17 not that far all I remember something about a Cannon and a letter that i had to show to someone
8:27 makes me laugh he's hopping around holding his foot like owwww MY TOE! XD hahahah
Twilight Princess has the best story of any Zelda game to date.
Zant was such a good boss fight, you can't beat the staple ganondorf fight, but his boss fight was almost all the boss fights together, their has never been a boss fight as unique as Zants was.
After i defeatde Zant in the gamecube, i remember i was with 1/4 of heart and my heartbeat was so fast, it was intense
Basically Zelda's Kefka. Corrupted by power and demonstrated to be insane-especially when he has his grand reveal.
12:24 the noise me and my friends make in primary school when somebody got in trouble
CookieWolf ! 🤣🤣🤣 I’m dying
Zant swimming...
Something I've never ever seen before since I use the claw-shots on him (& yes, I yell "Get over here!" while doing so) & quickly hit him a few times with the sol powered Master Sword.
One thing I wish Botw had was this kind of story, and depth, also the combat evolution that the hero of Twilight had
Speech bubble: Zant.
Midna: *A X E*
ZANT SWIMMING IS THE CUTEST THING I'VE EVER SEEN OMG XD
Joker and Pennywise: And people say we’re crazy?
3:28 and 12:24 XDXDXD
Oooooooohhhh
@3:55 the way he slowly starts floating up, and then the battle theme begins will ALWAYS be super cool to me. by far one of the best bosses in legend of Zelda games.
Quite possibly my favorite boss fight
Watching that second stage when Zant is stomping on the platform and Link puts on the metal boots...
Having played BotW I can only think of using that to jump higher, and shoot multiple arrows mid-air in bullet time
btw with so little health damage, it looks so easy
Man, I love Kirby Star Allies
Zant is such a good villain, enjoyed his boss battle way more than Ganon's
LOOOL what, I like this battle, but Ganon's battle is a theatrical finish.
_Zant, please put your mask back on-_
Why?
Zant before the Twili Palace was shown to be a calm, intimidating and almighty villain, worthy of being the throne usurper. And they all threw it aside here making him a power hungry kid who has anger issues, throwing tantrums.
one of the most memorable boss fights in zelda
And now he’s a cultist in Star Allies 😂
10:58 did he just said the n-word there lmao
1:36
Link: Enough is enough!
This fight and all of King Bulblin's fights are my absolute favorite moments of the game, which is kind of a bummer since they were so goddamn fleeting.
I actually like Zant as a character. Imagine working your entire life for something, and someone else just gets that certain something. That would sting, a lot.
Ah, you even hear a sound when he smash his head on the floor.. 2:38
8:41
did anyone else see the trajectory of the ball and chain and immediately grimace in anticipation for where it was about to hit but then immediately remember that this a video game and forget about it
