Great to see you back Alex! I've always enjoyed the commentary part of your videos as your passion for what you're talking about creates a compelling video. Hearing your thoughts that went into the work and design decisions has always inspired me.
Looking awesome. Would you consider setting up that small box room as your finishing area. That way you can more effectively isolate the dust and small particles that are generated, keeping the rest of your workshop clean and your lungs healthy.
I’ve been considering that lately. Originally I was going to knock through that room to make the space larger, but having somewhere that can be closed off might be a good move.
It was great to see something from you! It has been a very long while and was wondering what was going on. One thing I would strongly recommend if you were going to use the compound mitre saw is a hood to capture all the debris that will be spewing out especially in a clean workspace. What I would like to see if what your business will be offering. Even though I'm in Canada, I probably would be interested in what you would be able to create/cost.
My bread and butter is prototype work for most part currently, however I’ve been planning to get some limited production runs going for a while now for a number of items that I’ve had on the back burner. I’ll let people know on here and my other social outlets when more info is available!
All good! I don't have instagram so I don't mind waiting here whenever new content pops up. Your shop is fantastic. I can't imagine how much work it must've been to set everything up. Good luck with everything man, you got this

Your work, workshop and its organisation is really impressive! I would be very interested in what you actually do with your workshop. I assume as you mentioned there are projects, that you cannot talk about, but in an earlier video you hinted at producing products or commissionary work etc.
We've missed you good sir! Are you familiar with LEAN manufacturing? If you have time, it might help your thinking on further additions to your shop. Also, I love that shop floor and how bright it is!
Funnily enough I actually edited out the section where I mention LEAN haha. Yeah I’ve been trying to implement some of the principles of it to help reduce mess and unnecessary down time. I don’t agree with all of it, so cherry picking elements that sound like a good fit.
Many workshop jealousies were had during the watching of this video 😅 I'd love to see a more detailed look into the brass oxidation you did on half the heatsinks.
The yg1 alu-power is fantastic for wall finish in alu. Brass. Copper and plastic and dixi tools chamfer is also fantastic in those materials as well btw. Worked with a lot of different ones from different bands but those where always the best
I tried out some alu-powers but just couldn’t get them to work well for me. What parameters were you using? I’ve noticed bunch of really good tools tend to do best with low RPMs paired with heavy cuts, which I can’t really do on the M8.
@@PraetexDesign we used 0.04-0.06 feed per tooth. and 0.2 mm stepover for the finishing pass / depth of cut sideway's can full down in Z. our fastest machine did top out at about 18k rpm and we gave it all the rpm's it had. you could also use a mcd tipped endmill ( one that made for side milling ) or a mcd tipped ball mill ?
@@flikflak24 I’ll probably give them another go at some point, they’re quite practical since I can get them next day. I do a lot of MCD finishing on this machine, mostly in acrylic but alu and brass get a fair bit of diamond love too. It’s so satisfying, albeit still a bit of a clench using a £1500 tool.

Is content creation/youtube part of the future plans? I'm guessing a lot of subscribers loved the projects and builds of old, any plans for new builds or are we looking at a parts manufacturing channel going forward?
It will be, although it won’t be the main focus as it’s not really something that’s financially viable until you reach a pretty tremendous scale. However, the value in sharing the journey and keeping up with everybody makes it worth it. I really hope to have the time to do a proper scratch build again.
Amazing work Alex that's really a dream workshop ! And as usual superb selection of tools . Hope to see more videos soon ! ! And these ram are really a masterpiece (i am on the dark side :)
Hi, I have M8Cube as well, so far waiting to be unleashed... we are moving to a new place, and the M8Cube got ordered just before we found a new place. Since I will be working with POM-C and acrylic (as well with Aluminium, Brass etc) I have also ordered the CleanCut system and I am looking into air ionization (should help with plastics sticking due to static charge) a vortex cooling (for plastics). If anyone has some experience or thoughts on this... I would appreciate it, otherwise I am just saying it may be a good thing to try. I will see myself hopefully in few weeks or months.
Yup still around, about to get a whole lot busier soon for Computex! I’m more active on Insta and TikTok as those platforms work better with most of the things I do currently.
My shop was back to back VMC’s with 2 feet between them. Love all the space you have but i cant stand to see floor space in my own shop its like empty bags of money i want to fill.😂
Hey Alex. I saw that you have done some experimenting with DIY satin watercooling tubes. My question is, is PETG suitable for DIY satin tubing, and also, could you do this to EK's reservoirs also? Hopefully seeing more of your footage soon.
You can definitely make PETG tubes satin using the same process as my old Bit-Tech tutorial, however I'd argue that switching to acrylic is a better move. In the long run it's more secure, I don't really recommend PETG to people for their loops. You can 100% use the same process btw on the EK reservoirs as they're acrylic, they come out rather well in fact. You just have to be very thorough as it's a larger surface area.
@@PraetexDesign Im aware of PETG's features. In all my previous loops my water temps been under 40°C, so what it goes for PETG softening and becoming malleable in higher temps, in my normal use I'm not concerned. Haven't done any builds for a while though, not really had the time to do it. Funnily enough it’s a bit of a pain that I’ve filmed an almost entire build log series, but I’ve just been so crammed with other jobs that I haven’t had a moment to complete it. It’s just so tricky managing the time as a one-man-band. The PC itself is almost done, but needs to be disassembled, anodised and edited, then reassembled and wired up. I don’t want to release the early parts until the entire thing is done otherwise there might be a huge gap between the parts :/
Obviously you can't go into detail about the stuff that's under NDA, but what is the general nature of the work? Contract/on-demand activities for custom designs? Working with vendors on designing new products? It should be OK to answer that without breaking NDAs.
