When you're in the permanently dark zones of the ocean, food is so scarce that you need to conserve your energy and never move any more than you need to. So, like a lot of species that live in the deep ocean, it looks like this squid either drifts around slowly with minimal effort or just waits for food to come to it.
This creature definitely belongs on the "Pictures and videos you thought were fake but aren't" list. Such a scary looking beautiful creature. Even the name "Magnapinna" sounds so cool.
the camerawork -- the nightvision and the jerky too-fast movements of the camera -- are horror movie perfection. The reveal of how long those lines are, and then it keeps revealing, and keeps revealing, and oh god the camera's moving FAST, that must mean that these are even LONGER, launches this thing into monster history. I refuse to call them tentacles, how the hell would they move to feed the thing if something got caught at the edge of its reach? Would I even want to know? the answer tends to flip depending on my mood.
That's what I think's really cool about it. I wonder if this thing is related to squids or if it's its own family. @Tyshawn • 10 Years Ago • although they dont go dive to change cameras
Oil rigs pipes and drills still needs maintenance
So there's always an engineer who dive down to fix or do some maintenance
Although they don't go as deep as 1km tho
“Combs the sea floor with its tentacles” that is absolutely terrifying. In pitch black darkness, thousands upon thousands of feet below the surface this thing just drifts along the ocean floor or stays in one spot. Right now every mysterious undiscovered and nightmarish animal on earth is alive somewhere in that dark abyss, hunting.
I hate this
Wait if it drags its thingies across the ocean floor wouldnt that make their strings longer than we though?
we should just send the strongest we have, take it too the deepest part of the oceans, and have the pilot kamikaze, dont care what eats them as long as its at the bottom of the ocean its gon die
Damn shiro
😃🔫
“He’s just standing there… Menacingly!”
0:46 Its so scary not even the camera wants to look at it when they are trying to control it
"Woah, what is that! Look at it!"
Camera: "but I don't want to"
Just imagine you're a camera at the deep sea and all the sudden you see that alien looking squid
Imagine it''s not the camera moving and panning.. It's just how the squid moves
I am 600th like
So this is the squid game they're talking about

Why look for aliens beyond the clouds when all we need to do is go for a swim.
Gemini Writer go for a swim way down below until our brains explode from the immense pressure 🤪🤪 I’m in 👊👊
Nada Dealer who wouldn’t be???? A release to be sure.
Very good. My favorite video from you, so far.
This creature exists on this planet with us. That’s scary, but interesting af. They’re relatively nearby lol
It's crazy that technically we can meet that thing and interact with it
Fuck that, I'm not going to Australia or Mexico anymore.
Wait weren’t the big fin squids we seen juveniles?
and we dont know how big a full grown adult can grow
@@Iianator and that’s the terrifying thing
That's an alien and there's no way we are related to it W T F
wait what
Haha, sure we are. :) its not even that weird looking, its just the atmosphere of the setting and the video. Imagine it being fed fish food in a pool at full dayligt. It would be just a cool looking octopus with long tentacles. Just a fun day at seaworld :) And then imagine the opposite, a yorshire terrier, that suddenly appears in the shadows, from behind a corner in a dark derelict house, where you are alone on midnight. Would scare you out of your mind in the moment... but its just a pet dog :D
After you see a siphonophore this looks just normal
the sad truth is that we actually are related to it
@@retro7570 Come on, not cool! No need to hurt poor alien-looking cephalopod´s feelings! :D
This is a interesting way to start the year
this squid has some very long spaghetti noodles

The forbidden noodles🤔
In fact it are legs. But I guess you've never seen a spider..
... why I am creating these creatures anyway..? Nobody pays attention :(
Execution Squad he didn’t even say spaghetti noodle arms he just said spaghetti noodles
I thought the start of WW3 was more interesting personally but you do you.
It's also terifyng the fact that the music isn't actually music, it's actually the oceans really heavy pressure making those sounds.

The fact that "perdido" means "lost" in Spanish is oddly unsettling.
Reality Rupture it also derives from the same word from which the English “perdition” comes from

Wow crazy. Imagine all the crazy animals we haven't discovered in the deep sea
Ok yeah this comment is a good statement but what if there was a radioactive lemon down there
We discovered more of the moons surface than we did in our oceans ☺️
Don't worry we'll Globally warm them to death in no time.
The crab people
You humans have yet to uncover some of the thousands of horrific abominations from hell that lurk down here. Your primitive technology and wasteful practices hinder exploration of the seas, which may be for the best. There are things down here that you pathetic humans could never even hope to stand any chance of survival against if they ever decide to resurface.
This lil dude drags his feet into the darkness of the beyond to grab random foodstuffs. Meanwhile, I can’t even let my feet dangle off the bed at night lmaooo
Hahaha best comment ever
This lil dude is the night monster who stands at 24+ feet tall. Btw, the tallest recorded giant squid is 18m tall. We see so little of the deep sea that creatures feel and look alienated to us.
But the difference is that *this thing* is the boogeyman

Robinson Crusoe right lol I thought squidward
Spuid
Imagine this brushing against your leg while you're swimming.
No
I would force myself to drown.
Fortunately, it won't because the pressure is too light and the squid will explode or shaped differently
You'd have to have a lung capacity of an elephant and be swimming pretty deep. These won't go above 1000 feet. The water pressure must be immense at this depth. It would crush us to the size of an apple pretty quickly. That's more scary a thought than this alien squid!
