Hey Matteo, one quick question. Based on the description you mentioned that you filmed this one on iPhone native camera, so I assumed the real footages were not in the LOG or natural colour space format. So, did you still apply the Natural Rec709 lut for this video? Regarding the creative LUTs, which one did you use for this video?
You can really see someone that is a filmmaker killer with and without a professional gear besides that this iPhone camera is outstanding. Complimenti!
Im only curious. What's so epic about a woman walking on a big rock in slow motion. Leaves on the foreground. Woman movement on the middle and trees on the background + Camera movement. Nice cinematic shoot on the smartphone but not epic! BTW: No transitions at all in the footage, only hard cut. I like that.
Me lB you’re right, I think the music is playing tricks on what he visually is seeing because at that moment the audio is most intense probably giving the illusion of a more beautiful shot
Me lB I liked the composition ( trees, rocks y background ) and the “ extended dynamic range “ performance, is the perfect time when the sun hides and you have the perfect light, seems like a lion king scene
Jarred Decker Photography you cant depend on the stock camera os and settings to unlock its full potential you need apps like lumafusion for editing and recording to unlock its true potential
Bro I’ve watched this and it looks INSANE! THose closeup shots of Corinna looks astounding!! Please do a Color grade breakdown! Especially if those mountains and the portrait shots too!
Wow, the stabilization is incredible, especially in Ultra-wide mode. Did some two-handed forward walking shots and it looked like I used a gimbal. Tested both stock camera app and Filimic Pro, and in my opinion, the stock camera app stabilization looked better than Filmic Pro. Very impressed.
I agree with you, this ultra Wide angle is amazing, except in low light. I also shot videos with this lense and it’s now my favorite one to get "cinematic" look. Thanks !
Wow. Incredible video and editing. Great write up and description. I just got my iPhone 11 pro and this has inspired me to get out and shoot some footage. Thank you.
Man those ultra wide shots with the trees and sun flares look Super tasty. Really fascinating how this film was made just using an iPhone! I make videos using my iPhone as well but really no where near this awesome. Did you use a gimbal for this video? Keep the iPhone videos coming Matteo!
This definitely competes with the mid-range Canon DSLRs imo, this is amazing! I'm excited to see how the next gen filmmakers utilize this. Apple you've done it again!
Not really, in almost every shot there are crushed blacks. With a proper camera you'd have to try pretty hard to get shadows that dark on a sunny day like that. Looks like one side of the trees are being eaten by a black hole. I'm not saying this isn't impressive but at least when you take photos the phone can combine images to get more dynamic range.
An artist can create beautiful work with any medium. Some painters can crush berries and apply it to their canvas with their hands and make beautiful work. To me this isn't a testament to the camera, but to the artist.
Amazing vid Matteo - Question - if you filmed at 4k 60p, that means it was Apple's High Efficiency codec H.265 - was DaVinci able to read those files? Did you use the free or paid version? Did you have to convert and was conversion possible within DaVinci or did you have to use an external converter?
Thanks. Very nice and your comments in the description are very helpful. I’ve followed your videos for a long time and I’ve decided to take phone video more seriously. Just purchased a Max Pro, LumaFusion to give iOS editing a try and your new LUTs. Cheers.
looks like my IPhone 11 Pro got some grainy textures on the 4k 60fs footage, have to go return for replacement, great video brother, breath taking scenery 🙌🏼
The amount of details is incredible for such a small phone sensor. I wonder how Apple managed to do this. When a DSLR or MILC camera is not allowed a phone camera that produces this quality of video is a pretty good alternative I think.
@@richieatlomwistpriv6673 Details compared to other smartphone camera footage I meant. Ofcourse, shooting with a dedicated camera is always better, but as I stated it's for those situations where you simply can't take your workhorse camera with you. I shoot on a full frame DSLR with primes and a MFT mirrorless (Panasonic GH4) in Cine 4K so I know already it can't be compared to those. But having this capability and going out and seeing something that is worth filming, knowing the quality is the best a smartphone can get you is gold in my opinion.
@@jorismaasvisuals I'm not sure what you would have to record in order to make someone use it in film(proper)... worked on nearly 50 films... it actually never crossed my mind, but pretty sure one would have to look for new job if proposed using phone/dslr footage in film... i remember working for free on documentary (that I actually believed in - but virtually no budget) - I got some car crash footage from panas gh4 (i think) - correction and grading was true pain... was not happy with results at all - they still used it - in every other production that would be a no go... propably would hurt my reputation... there is much science to it (both technical equipement and social - digestibility of human perception - i highly recommend going down this path - its extremely interesting, although you won't be albe to share you knowledge on youtube:):) as I'm struggling
Amazing what Apple packed into a smartphone. I'm betting Steve Soderbergh will use this in an upcoming feature. What's also great, is that because of its form factor, a lot of film makers can use it to get those shots in places they might need permits for. Cuz, who's going to care about a guy shooting with an iPhone. RIght? Great footage.
This camera is great in many way, but in some way it Still feels flat, like all other smart phone cameras. The lens is to short and there for it cannot look as good as on a "real" camera.
It will soon, so it must be 26mm wide angle with post letterbox. Must have pretty good gyros to get that stable footage or was it warp stablerlizer in prem Pro? However great video man
Whoelse subscribed after seeing this video to get pointers how to get cinematic videos for their channel? 🙋🏻♀️😊 Thanks for sharing!!! Love it!!!!! And yes, I also have iphone 11 pro max and use it for videos for my travel vlog channel.

Nikolás Hasif yep! We have it for both log and rec709 profiles!
try to do one with the note 10
Beautifully done! 👌🏼✨📲
Crazy how far the camera tech in a smartphone has come in the past couple of years.
It already make a big progress since X came out
Things have changed so much :D
I wonder why bootleg videos are still in 240p when phones nowadays can do 4K 60fps. Or when an android user posts a fight and is 144p.
At the same time, laptops are fitted with a 720p camera with a noisy image 😭
yeah but u could have done this 5 years ago
You can really see someone that is a filmmaker killer with and without a professional gear besides that this iPhone camera is outstanding. Complimenti!

This is what I've been waiting for to be posted. Amazing work.
Apple should give you commission.. I just bought one because of this video..
I wish!
I bought one because of a similar video and the video quality of mine is absolutely awful. I’m here watching this to see if I’m alone.
Jarred Decker Photography you cant depend on the stock camera os and settings to unlock its full potential you need apps like lumafusion for editing and recording to unlock its true potential
Vanta Black I have lumafusion, but editing is not my issue. I also have filmic pro, which does not affect the insane amount of noise in the videos.
Jarred Decker Photography guess that camera truly is crappy

Nothing like a good drive from Fresno to the sequoias getting some sick shots and film! Nice work bro!

Has less to do with the camera and more with the skills with the one behind the camera.....like this filming style and music to go with it....topjob 👌
It's really is a competition between hardware (sensor size) and software (image processing). The software seems to be winning it lately.
RahimMRyan It’s cheaper too because it’s there already. In hardware you have to make it and a lens alone is more expensive than this phone.
The shots at 1:09 and 1:14 made my jaw drop. This is stunning
This handles light soooo much better than my XS Max!
And that Ultra-wide really gives you so much more!
Nice work :)
Thanks. That brought me several minutes of peace.
Breathtaking! We’re making a road trip up from L.A. next week.
this makes you love your phone even more!

When the light goes away or trying to get shallow depth-of-field the tiny sensor will be struggling.
