The app is not completed and there’s only so much you can show in a ten minute overview of an incomplete product. Obviously you are allowed to have your own opinions on it. As for my view I see this version he shared for what it is and what it can become.
Also do remember this is pre-alpha footage, we have so many things we want to polish, add and improve. The only way up from here is up. Can't wait to see where we'll be in a year or two. :)

One request: For the languages with genders (such as the Spanish example shown in the video), PLEASE include a definite article or something to indicate the gender on the flashcards for vocabulary As a person who learned German, you really only know half the word if you don’t know what gender it is and it is just so much easier later on if you initially learn the words with their genders I also know that for German specifically, there are words that have different meanings depending on the gender (Der Leiter vs Die Leiter) and I am assuming it is similar for other languages that implement gender Perhaps allowing for a toggle option if some people are overwhelmed by it and just want to focus on one thing at a time Just a suggestion :) So excited for all of your success and really looking forward to it all coming together!

One feature I'd super like is Read-While-Listening. Basically short stories read to you with a transcript to follow along. Could be fun for Fluyo lore! It'd be great if any work could be selected to show the translation, or a whole paragraph. Super helpful to me for comprehension
This is a great app for beginners with zero knowledge of a language. It can help them to get into the language in a fun and engaging way. That being said, I doubt that serious language learners (like the creators of the app itself) would use such an app to get to fluency. We all know that gamified language apps are fun for casual learners but ineffective at actually helping you acquire a language. But yes, this app (just like many other gamified language apps) is a great resource for beginners. Looking forward to other cool updates! 🎉

Rewatching this after actually playing the app in beta is so surreal. It's so much fun on the courses that even have the Wayfinder audio lessons, like Japanese! It's launching in December.

I think adding a story mode would be something nice for the future. really give it that pokemon/monster feel and helps get a person invested in the language learning part just to advance the story
I remember watching you years ago. I found you again on an ad in Instagram. Finding out that you are actually releasing an app made me so happy. Just from listening to your experiences, advices and seeing how much passion you have for languages made me so happy that you are actually doing this. I knew that if anyone could do it, it would be you. You have the drive, motivation and knowledge to do it. Everyone is proud and happy for you.
This is the first time I've ever been excited for a language learning app, I hope this realeases soon! I feel like this app will make a lot of people enjoy learning a new language and people who already enjoy will enjoy it even more.
This is such an inspirational story! I know you and your team will have had it rough for the past 3 years, and heck I doubt it’s easy now having to polish up the game, but fingers crossed you’ve all been as proud of yourselves as we all are of you. Personally I was hoping for more content about the grammar lessons and possible aids for speaking the languages. So far it unfortunately just looks like a more polished and gamified Duolingo twin with a heavy focus on simple vocab learning.:( Nevertheless, I can see the effort you put into the app and wish you best of luck with the campaign.

I've been following this channel, even i must say, your journey for several year now and i can't say how happy i am for you about this project I'm definitely possitive that this app will shake the entire language learning community (in a extremly good way), so so hyped for the release
the graphics and animations are looking great! it's quite polished already. Looking forward to the mini games and league system as well as pods. The story mode looks quite bare tough, but it's understandable since it's already a lot of work to get all of this going. But it would be cool in the future to create an actual story that could be mixed with learning grammar rules or new words.. Congrats on what's already there! looking forward to chinese
6:02 THIS is so good. My least favorite thing about Duolingo (the primary way I have learned my languages) is that it’s difficult to retain words because they have no form of spatial repetition (or repetition at all in some cases), so this is a more than satisfying drink of fresh air.
Looks super cool. I have only one piece of advice. Hire a behavioral psychologist to the team - you really want to make sure something keeps the player/learner coming back for more and the most addictive video games have consulted with psychologists to find the sweet spot that lights up the nucleus accumbens. Even if you don’t hire one, the app will still be great, but it won’t change humanity. A game that is so irresistible that people cannot stop playing and learning languages - that would be legendary.
Glad you added leagues and league rewards. Don’t know if you remember, but I was the one who suggested to add that ages ago and you hearted my comment 😊 when you asked for ideas in a video you made. I know it’s a common theme in games but I am so happy you have added that feature. I see this app as an investment into my time as I plan on learning many languages, so I will be paying for the lifetime subscription. Amazing job! Couldn’t think of a better place to spend my money.
1- Characters could be designed differently, they all look the same 2- Exercises are pretty much the same as duolingo except the background is a game 3- Items are very basic and dont have any special features apart from looks. 4- Flashcards feature could be made using pictures, clips from movies and series or videos. 5- Games are unbelievably simplistic and minimalistic. There should be speaking challenges to distinguish this app from others as speaking is the most difficult problem in language learning. 6- There is little to no interactive speaking features with other people apart from crossword games. There could be rewards such as the winner of the league or the games win a 20 min 1-1 conversation with a spanish native or a french fluent speaker to practice your speaking. I understand this is just a kickstarter and you will be bringing so many more features in the upcoming years but with this much funding that put the app to the top list in the budget rank, We really have a lot of expectations from this app and hopefully you wont dissapoint us Ikenna.
I don't think there will be new content for the alpha/beta/official launch except the thing he anounced and teased. The app is in development since 3 years, abut idk when they brought up the full team. We'll have to wait for the following years that could add depth and more content.
I'm really excited to see the progress! I would love it if maybe you guys had 2 additional modes. 1. Where you could just have fun, little everyday conversations with the npc creatures to practice comprehension and basic conversation. 2. Public language lobbies where you could practice the language you're working on with real people. (This may be in the social features tab you were talking about which I think would be so cool!!)
I am extremely excited for this project! I have a idea for a simple minigame: There will be 2 groups of cards: The word cards and the picture cards. You simply have to match the words with the pictures. Maybe a memory version of this will also be great, but I honestly dunno :P Again, I'm really excited and happy that it looks this good! :)
I absolutely love the idea and what you’ve done so far! It looks amazing! I had a few thoughts that I wanted to share in case you see this. 1. It’d be amazing if there could be more speaking, listening and longer reading exercises. I’ve spent a year in Spain and now consider myself fluent in Spanish. I personally learned mostly through listening and talking and occasionally reading books (easier or harder depending on my level) so maybe there could be either short texts that you could listen too/read out loud/translate or a storyline that progresses with levels fully or partially (depending on level) in your target language with the opportunity to translate stuff and add words to the flash cards. Something like that would be cool. 2. It’d be cool if you could unlock or buy new characters for yourself that aren’t dolphins. For example maybe you could get the option of buying characters the species of the big boss you’ve defeated so you get more options the more you play. This would require a lot of 3d models though so might be hard. Or characters you could meet and befriend in the potential storyline that you could then buy and play as (or like a unique character of that same species). I personally really enjoy naming characters so maybe you could name your different characters too, or even characters you meet, perhaps give them your own nicknames could be an option. 3. For aesthetical proposes I’d suggest making the way until you get to the abyss longer, like more gradual. It’d be fun to see the change in environment gradually become darker and darker until you get there. I think it’s make it feel more rewarding once you reach the abyss too if it’s a longer journey there. I don’t know what porpoise it has gameplay wise though so I don’t know how it’d work. 4. Since it’s not like the final version I assume the animations and fight scenes will become more developed in the future but it’d be cool if the fight was more fightey. Like maybe an animation for attacking the other player/creature, taking damage causes bruises or bandages to appear on the character or something and some kind of death or win animation. 5. A way to befriend and talk to native people would be cool. Like a chat or something. And a way to add your real life friends to some kind of friend list in the game and be able to chat with them and challenge them to minigames. I’d personally be really exited if the storyline became a thing. That’s what I personally play games for. The story and the graphics. So progressing in the story by completing levels would make me want to play it way more. These are just personal opinions and brainstorming thoigh. I definitely think there’s a lot of potential for this to become a really great tool for learning languages, especially as a beginner learner. I look forward to seeing how it turns out! Edit: Ok ok I have another idea. I love brainstorming. So what if instead of a storyline that progresses with the levels and stuff you have like a little world or village sort of like in animal crossing, and the more levels you complete the more places you unlock and the more creatures/inhabitants you meet. Then you could use the yon to decorate for example your living space (like a cave or something? Idk what dolphins live in) too, maybe even get pets or something, and you could have short daily quests in your target language. Like idk, “hold a conversation with a neighbor without making any mistakes” or something idk. And you can have shorter conversations with the creatures you’ve met and befriended in your target language. Then you would get to use the language in a more normal way and it’d be rewarding cause maybe the friendship level would go up or something, like in the sims lol. You could also preform tasks and small “missions” for your neighbors, like asking someone to borrow some eggs for your neighbor because they wants to bake a cake, or going to some kind of market place and navigating that. Those would be like beginner quests I suppose then. Anyway I think it would be really freaking cool and you’d get to use and practice the language with a more game-like feeling and daily quests and relationship levels would make it more rewarding, at least for me, to use the app daily. Idk how doable it is, it’s probably way harder to do than a storyline but I think it could be fun. Maybe you could even have both eventually. Idk, I’m just brainstorming.

Honestly, mad respect to Ikenna for his motivation to create this app while suffering from POTS simultaneously. Fluyo looks amazing and I'm very excited to get it, I love the idea of the "journey to fluency" idea it has to it as it makes language learning feel more adventurous and exciting rather than just reading through text books. These features are so much better than I expected. I am really excited for beta. One feature idea I had: after a minigame give the option to mark whether you knew the cards, etc. so it can feed the SRS algo. This could make SRS WAAAAAAY less boring. Amazing work!

Hi Ikenna, This really is a revolutionary masterpiece in the field of learning languages, Fluyo already in it's development stage has pretty much topped all other apps, I would be glad to suggest you that to improve the pronunciation understanding and it's application in speaking, Fluyo should introduce phonetic diagrams and depict visually with the position of each organ while producing the sound and show the exact way of getting it right, also short mouth close-up recordings with real people pronouncing the sounds

its incredible to see this after waiting for such a long time. it is clear that the time spent has been worth it. youve done an incredible job, and im now even more excited to get this app
Two suggestions for the battle/1v1 feature: - Introduce items/weapons/gear that you can equip which you unlock through milestones/achievements (e.g learn 500 words) to make the game more fun and complex - Make sure the ranking system is AS GOOD AS POSSIBLE - no joke, the ranking system and being able to battle vs strangers to gain elo would absolutely make me play the game a ton
Honestly backing the campaign I was a little skeptical how good of an app someone I thought of as a RUclipsr could make. But this exceeded my expectations in every way. I am blown away with how good this is and I am super hype to be able to use it. This is an order of magnitude above any other language learning app that currently exists.
I hope the animations and sounds get polished. The game looks really solid for a pre-Alpha but I don't find the animations to be as engaging as competing apps and the sound effects of the enemies make it sound like a child's game. I'm a fan of Pokemon so hopefully they steer towards those sounds effects. I also think that background combat music for enemies would really benefit from the emptiness when fighting them. Still, it looks like a really diversive app with tons to do and explore. Congrats, Ikenna. :)
Yes definitely the animations could use some improvements, I suggest making the attacks more visual by having some kind of visual projectile (maybe magic missiles or something? ) flying from the creature making an attack. Also and this is an idea that would probably take longer to implement but it'd be interesting to make battles more strategic somehow like the Pokemon battles, maybe add a way of defending or healing oneself or poisoning the opponent and vise versa.
To be honest, I was really skeptical of the app prior to this video but it now seems like a fun and entertaining way to learn the basics and to keep up motivation when learning the deeper parts of a language!
I'm excited for the mini games. One of the reasons I gave "Lingo Legends" a chance was because it's turn based combat like Final Fantasy or something, but the ONLY mini game is just clicking for materials. It's not even language related 🤦. I can force myself through the boring part of studying, but I really need the fun stuff to feel good about what I'm learning.

Hello, really looking forward to the app! I hope you add something like "lingq" where you have youtube videos or audio with transcript which can also add to your Flashcards I think that would be awesome and maybe even have a battle at the end to check you have learnt the new words 😊!
Now, that I think about it... Fluyo is kinda like Prodigy just that instead of been for math it's for languages XD Oh, and I like the Fluyo design more
At first i didn't think much of fluyo, was probably like it's a nice thing to add to your language learning journey as a bonus but... This might actually be a game changer, by the look of it once everything fully fledged out (probably still a couple of years imho) the features it has might make it the first app you could use alone with immersion allowing you to reach a good intermediate level with all the vocab+grammar+fluency that you would need. HYPED. TLDR: If everything will be developped as advertised, we would be able to use this app with immersion to reach intermediate level easily by triggering the addiction system in our brain (a bit like duolingo day streak but on cr-ck)

One feature I'd super like is Read-While-Listening. Basically short stories read to you with a transcript to follow along. Could be fun for Fluyo lore! It'd be great if any work could be selected to show the translation, or a whole paragraph. Super helpful to me for comprehension

This is a great app for beginners with zero knowledge of a language. It can help them to get into the language in a fun and engaging way. That being said, I doubt that serious language learners (like the creators of the app itself) would use such an app to get to fluency. We all know that gamified language apps are fun for casual learners but ineffective at actually helping you acquire a language. But yes, this app (just like many other gamified language apps) is a great resource for beginners. Looking forward to other cool updates! 🎉

I remember watching you years ago. I found you again on an ad in Instagram. Finding out that you are actually releasing an app made me so happy. Just from listening to your experiences, advices and seeing how much passion you have for languages made me so happy that you are actually doing this.
I knew that if anyone could do it, it would be you. You have the drive, motivation and knowledge to do it. Everyone is proud and happy for you.
This is the first time I've ever been excited for a language learning app, I hope this realeases soon! I feel like this app will make a lot of people enjoy learning a new language and people who already enjoy will enjoy it even more.

It's nice, but how is this a game? It's just look like a mix of Anki and Duolingo, with a more beautiful design. Can we call this a game?
Personally I was hoping for more content about the grammar lessons and possible aids for speaking the languages. So far it unfortunately just looks like a more polished and gamified Duolingo twin with a heavy focus on simple vocab learning.:( Nevertheless, I can see the effort you put into the app and wish you best of luck with the campaign.

the graphics and animations are looking great! it's quite polished already. Looking forward to the mini games and league system as well as pods.
The story mode looks quite bare tough, but it's understandable since it's already a lot of work to get all of this going. But it would be cool in the future to create an actual story that could be mixed with learning grammar rules or new words..

6:02 THIS is so good. My least favorite thing about Duolingo (the primary way I have learned my languages) is that it’s difficult to retain words because they have no form of spatial repetition (or repetition at all in some cases), so this is a more than satisfying drink of fresh air.
I was already excited, but this looks so much better than expected. I wish I could play it right now
Looks super cool. I have only one piece of advice. Hire a behavioral psychologist to the team - you really want to make sure something keeps the player/learner coming back for more and the most addictive video games have consulted with psychologists to find the sweet spot that lights up the nucleus accumbens. Even if you don’t hire one, the app will still be great, but it won’t change humanity. A game that is so irresistible that people cannot stop playing and learning languages - that would be legendary.

Glad you added leagues and league rewards. Don’t know if you remember, but I was the one who suggested to add that ages ago and you hearted my comment 😊 when you asked for ideas in a video you made. I know it’s a common theme in games but I am so happy you have added that feature.
I see this app as an investment into my time as I plan on learning many languages, so I will be paying for the lifetime subscription.

I'm gonna be that guy, but enlightening is misspelled on the dolphin select screen! ❤😅
1- Characters could be designed differently, they all look the same
2- Exercises are pretty much the same as duolingo except the background is a game
3- Items are very basic and dont have any special features apart from looks.
4- Flashcards feature could be made using pictures, clips from movies and series or videos.
5- Games are unbelievably simplistic and minimalistic. There should be speaking challenges to distinguish this app from others as speaking is the most difficult problem in language learning.
6- There is little to no interactive speaking features with other people apart from crossword games. There could be rewards such as the winner of the league or the games win a 20 min 1-1 conversation with a spanish native or a french fluent speaker to practice your speaking.
I understand this is just a kickstarter and you will be bringing so many more features in the upcoming years but with this much funding that put the app to the top list in the budget rank, We really have a lot of expectations from this app and hopefully you wont dissapoint us Ikenna.

I don't think there will be new content for the alpha/beta/official launch except the thing he anounced and teased. The app is in development since 3 years, abut idk when they brought up the full team. We'll have to wait for the following years that could add depth and more content.

I'm really excited to see the progress! I would love it if maybe you guys had 2 additional modes. 1. Where you could just have fun, little everyday conversations with the npc creatures to practice comprehension and basic conversation. 2. Public language lobbies where you could practice the language you're working on with real people. (This may be in the social features tab you were talking about which I think would be so cool!!)
I am extremely excited for this project! I have a idea for a simple minigame:
There will be 2 groups of cards: The word cards and the picture cards. You simply have to match the words with the pictures. Maybe a memory version of this will also be great, but I honestly dunno :P

I absolutely love the idea and what you’ve done so far! It looks amazing! I had a few thoughts that I wanted to share in case you see this.
1. It’d be amazing if there could be more speaking, listening and longer reading exercises. I’ve spent a year in Spain and now consider myself fluent in Spanish. I personally learned mostly through listening and talking and occasionally reading books (easier or harder depending on my level) so maybe there could be either short texts that you could listen too/read out loud/translate or a storyline that progresses with levels fully or partially (depending on level) in your target language with the opportunity to translate stuff and add words to the flash cards. Something like that would be cool.
2. It’d be cool if you could unlock or buy new characters for yourself that aren’t dolphins. For example maybe you could get the option of buying characters the species of the big boss you’ve defeated so you get more options the more you play. This would require a lot of 3d models though so might be hard. Or characters you could meet and befriend in the potential storyline that you could then buy and play as (or like a unique character of that same species). I personally really enjoy naming characters so maybe you could name your different characters too, or even characters you meet, perhaps give them your own nicknames could be an option.
3. For aesthetical proposes I’d suggest making the way until you get to the abyss longer, like more gradual. It’d be fun to see the change in environment gradually become darker and darker until you get there. I think it’s make it feel more rewarding once you reach the abyss too if it’s a longer journey there. I don’t know what porpoise it has gameplay wise though so I don’t know how it’d work.
4. Since it’s not like the final version I assume the animations and fight scenes will become more developed in the future but it’d be cool if the fight was more fightey. Like maybe an animation for attacking the other player/creature, taking damage causes bruises or bandages to appear on the character or something and some kind of death or win animation.
5. A way to befriend and talk to native people would be cool. Like a chat or something. And a way to add your real life friends to some kind of friend list in the game and be able to chat with them and challenge them to minigames.
I’d personally be really exited if the storyline became a thing. That’s what I personally play games for. The story and the graphics. So progressing in the story by completing levels would make me want to play it way more. These are just personal opinions and brainstorming thoigh. I definitely think there’s a lot of potential for this to become a really great tool for learning languages, especially as a beginner learner. I look forward to seeing how it turns out!

Ok ok I have another idea. I love brainstorming. So what if instead of a storyline that progresses with the levels and stuff you have like a little world or village sort of like in animal crossing, and the more levels you complete the more places you unlock and the more creatures/inhabitants you meet. Then you could use the yon to decorate for example your living space (like a cave or something? Idk what dolphins live in) too, maybe even get pets or something, and you could have short daily quests in your target language. Like idk, “hold a conversation with a neighbor without making any mistakes” or something idk. And you can have shorter conversations with the creatures you’ve met and befriended in your target language. Then you would get to use the language in a more normal way and it’d be rewarding cause maybe the friendship level would go up or something, like in the sims lol. You could also preform tasks and small “missions” for your neighbors, like asking someone to borrow some eggs for your neighbor because they wants to bake a cake, or going to some kind of market place and navigating that. Those would be like beginner quests I suppose then. Anyway I think it would be really freaking cool and you’d get to use and practice the language with a more game-like feeling and daily quests and relationship levels would make it more rewarding, at least for me, to use the app daily. Idk how doable it is, it’s probably way harder to do than a storyline but I think it could be fun. Maybe you could even have both eventually. Idk, I’m just brainstorming.

Honestly, mad respect to Ikenna for his motivation to create this app while suffering from POTS simultaneously. Fluyo looks amazing and I'm very excited to get it, I love the idea of the "journey to fluency" idea it has to it as it makes language learning feel more adventurous and exciting rather than just reading through text books. One feature idea I had: after a minigame give the option to mark whether you knew the cards, etc. so it can feed the SRS algo. This could make SRS WAAAAAAY less boring.

Hi Ikenna, This really is a revolutionary masterpiece in the field of learning languages, Fluyo already in it's development stage has pretty much topped all other apps, I would be glad to suggest you that to improve the pronunciation understanding and it's application in speaking, Fluyo should introduce phonetic diagrams and depict visually with the position of each organ while producing the sound and show the exact way of getting it right, also short mouth close-up recordings with real people pronouncing the sounds

its incredible to see this after waiting for such a long time. it is clear that the time spent has been worth it. youve done an incredible job, and im now even more excited to get this app
Two suggestions for the battle/1v1 feature:
- Introduce items/weapons/gear that you can equip which you unlock through milestones/achievements (e.g learn 500 words) to make the game more fun and complex
- Make sure the ranking system is AS GOOD AS POSSIBLE - no joke, the ranking system and being able to battle vs strangers to gain elo would absolutely make me play the game a ton
Adding a top league to the minigames where, if you lose, you lose points might be a good idea, so only the best players can stay there
Honestly backing the campaign I was a little skeptical how good of an app someone I thought of as a RUclipsr could make. But this exceeded my expectations in every way. I am blown away with how good this is and I am super hype to be able to use it. This is an order of magnitude above any other language learning app that currently exists.

I hope the animations and sounds get polished. The game looks really solid for a pre-Alpha but I don't find the animations to be as engaging as competing apps and the sound effects of the enemies make it sound like a child's game. I'm a fan of Pokemon so hopefully they steer towards those sounds effects. I also think that background combat music for enemies would really benefit from the emptiness when fighting them.
Still, it looks like a really diversive app with tons to do and explore. Congrats, Ikenna. :)
Yes definitely the animations could use some improvements, I suggest making the attacks more visual by having some kind of visual projectile (maybe magic missiles or something? ) flying from the creature making an attack. Also and this is an idea that would probably take longer to implement but it'd be interesting to make battles more strategic somehow like the Pokemon battles, maybe add a way of defending or healing oneself or poisoning the opponent and vise versa.

To be honest, I was really skeptical of the app prior to this video but it now seems like a fun and entertaining way to learn the basics and to keep up motivation when learning the deeper parts of a language!
I'm excited for the mini games. One of the reasons I gave "Lingo Legends" a chance was because it's turn based combat like Final Fantasy or something, but the ONLY mini game is just clicking for materials. It's not even language related 🤦. I can force myself through the boring part of studying, but I really need the fun stuff to feel good about what I'm learning.
Online battle will be awesome and extremely motivating

At first i didn't think much of fluyo, was probably like it's a nice thing to add to your language learning journey as a bonus but... This might actually be a game changer, by the look of it once everything fully fledged out (probably still a couple of years imho) the features it has might make it the first app you could use alone with immersion allowing you to reach a good intermediate level with all the vocab+grammar+fluency that you would need. HYPED.
TLDR: If everything will be developped as advertised, we would be able to use this app with immersion to reach intermediate level easily by triggering the addiction system in our brain (a bit like duolingo day streak but on cr-ck)
