I have been a huge Gary Clark fan since I saw him for the first time at Eric Clapton's Crossroads Festival. I had the chance to see him twice and was blown away both times. Cant wait to see him in June at the met!!!! he just seems like someone you could just hang with over a pitcher of beer 50 wings and a stack of old albums and have at it.
I could not more LOVE Gary just being himself!!!!! One of the things I have always LOVE about Gary is his diversity of styles!!! Seen him twice! Awesome!! Please keep coming to Greensboro, NC GARY!!!
Greatness is listing to gifted men with lots of excellent quality and wisdom of the world in general and being able to have a diverse approach for music and knowledge of self and life to enjoy the moments of excitement and joy in being blessed with talented gifts from the Most High has been very helpful about the life of the artist and musicians point of views outstanding interview 👏 👌 and very interesting and knowledgeable about music in general 👌 good job 👏 blessings and peace to you always 😊 🙏
Sooo glad, to see how the conversation flows from artist to artist. You can tell he was genuinely interested in his process. They covered things i was very interested to know but didn't think of cause i wasn't seeing Gary from that point of view. Great Job to you both for bringing quality content.
32:13 I don’t blame his son at all. I saw Slash when Paradise City dropped for the first time and I wanted to be a guitarist too. 😂 Great interview. Proudly a new GCJ fan
8:00 the next couple of minutes is such a real answer. He's just a guy. I remember seeing him start to take up that mantle and it didn't seem authentic. Which stands out cause everything this dude does seems 100% him. Glad he's back to doing what makes him happy.
Huge fan here. Had the possibility to assist to his show at Madrid last year. Was awesome. I don´t fit 100% into this new album, but man, I´ll give it a second, a third and another chance. Maybe I can learn about what he´s showing us.
this was such a beautifully intimate conversation among two men I hold in high regard. I'm coming off of a week where I saw GCJ twice, once at the Hollywood Bowl and then again last night at Rady Shell (SD). JPEG RAW is no doubt an incredible album, I'm so glad Gary chose to share it with us.
I bet Gary listened to Apollo XXI Really looking forward to sitting with JPEG RAW just from the two songs i heard so far PS you guys tore up gma I hope that audience was delighted PPS --> a dancer friend once told me " Once is a mistake. Twice is choreography "
I didn’t know about Gary until I brought his signature SG. Closest thing to a strat I’ll play…But I became a huge fan after the fact. Being a. child of the 70’s and coming of age in the 90s i love the mix of analog and acoustic music with samples and beats. Can’t wait to hear the album
so where does being black come into this? i was watching this and didn't see a black man until it was mentioned! all i saw was two men talking music! I don't get that shit! I dont see Slash as black, I dont see jimi as black, or bb, fats or albert collins! all I see is a fantastic person playing good shit!
Love Gary Clark... but don't put that label on him of being the next "......" so and so. There's a lot of young(ish) guns out there who are still around, who are taking electric blues to the next generation, and who have been doing it longer than Gary. Building the hype actually gets in the way of the artist's development because in the end the personality is nothing... it's the honesty of emotion behind the playing... Just my take on it.
Isn’t it weird how artists get so obsessed about genres, like I get it’s their identity, but as a consumer I couldn’t care less. If it’s good I’ll f with it regardless… Also found it funny him saying ‘I’m not a political guy’ to then being all ‘i had to speak my truth on a 9 minute song, because it’s not okay’. The personal is political more often than not…

LOVE GCJ, had great time at the three shows I've been too. New album , no really good songs, but hey, can't all be great.
i realised the pandemic was bull shit.
nothing to worry about.

Unfortunately many in the world don’t share your viewpoint…
I know. I’m sitting here as a black man just watching two MEN talk , not two black men. Didn’t enter my mind until it was brought up.
Gary keep up the Great work! Great interview

well there's that level of political and then there's something like rage against the machine. I can see what he means by 'not political'.
so overrated
