Hi y’all! Dietitian here to clarify the omega-3 talk. Omega 3 fatty acids come in two forms: EPA/DHA and ALA. The EPA/DHA is the most potent form meaning we get the most health benefits from it (reduced inflammation, decreased symptom from depression/ADHD/OCD, protection of heart and brain, etc). ALA is less potent because we only use the small percentage that gets converted to EPA/DHA for those benefits and the rest gets used for only energy like every other kind of dietary fat. Not to mention the conversion rate from ALA to EPA/DHA depends on adequate levels of other nutrients (zinc, iron, B6). We can only get EPA/DHA from fatty fish (salmon, tuna, mussels) and algae. ALA is much more common and can be found in plant forms (walnuts, chia seeds, spinach, kale). It’s true that the fish get their EPA/DHA from algae but that is the only plant that provides this form and humans don’t normally consume it. You can definitely supplement EPA/DHA but to get a quality form can be very expensive so not realistic for some people when considering accessibility and food insecurity. But it’s definitely a great option if you are able to afford it and trying to be mindful of our implant on the environment. Hope that helps clarify! Thanks for speaking up on important topics :)

I think for women it's often based around looks. If you haven't found a partner and want children, then the pressure is really on. One because we have a biological clock. But I think it's also harder for women in their 30s to find a partner. Men are afraid that they only want them out of desperation to have a baby, which can be true. And also men in their 30s can date women in their 20s and 30s. Where as majority of women will want men the same age as them or older. It's rare to see a woman in her 30s with a man in his 20s. Where as a woman in her 20s with a man in his 30s is very common. Also you seem really young by your profile. Claudia, while I want to thank you for spreading awareness regarding the pollution the fishing industry causes, I do want to include that there are better solutions to the issue than to simply say we must stop eating fish/seafood. A lot of cultures such as Japan depend on the fishing industry for their diet. While I am not at all saying the fishing industry is sustainable and ethical, I just think a better solution to pollution is to call for major fishing company heads to change their fishing practices and educate their workers on climate change rather than declaring we completely abandon seafood. There are generations of families that have made their living through fishing and watching one documentary should not be a reason to make claim that all fishing industries are bad and therefore seafood should not be eaten. There are a lot of readings that explain more in depth why simply boycotting an industry does not equal the elimination of the issue (such as thinking completely boycotting the fast fashion industry will stop sweat shops from operating is narrow minded because its immediate effect is leaving the workers, instead, there has to be more advocating for a change in the work environment, wage regulation/enforcement). Just wanted to say that there are more innocent parties affected that have to be considered before we demand boycotting!
i study natural resources and am passionate about commercial fishing and our depleting fish stock. i am so happy to see someone with such a large platform bring this up!!!! awareness is awesome

No but this whole vlog is soo beautiful???
Just wanted to say that there are more innocent parties affected that have to be considered before we demand boycotting!
the scene in this video is just so amazing, i’m so glad i found you. you make my day better 💛

hey claudia! i'd recommend reading some articles about the seaspiracy documentary, many of its facts and its narratives have been debunked. nonetheless we need to care and protect our ocean and planet!
