    Made it my routine over the last few months to go to the gym in the morning and watching the vlog on the treadmill each weekday morning. Helps keep me consistent and it's a good way to start the day. Thank you for the help with consistency. The morning video's come out at the perfect time here in Michigan.

    QD: Hawaii was the most relaxing place for me. I booked a holiday to Hawaii for our 30th anniversary in 2013. Pearls are the traditional gift for 30th, so we went to Pearl Harbor (on 7 December), with Diamonds the modern gift, so our hotel had an amazing view of Diamond Head. Our anniversary was on the Tuesday, and our hotel held a free Hawaiian vow renewal service on Waikiki Beach, near where Elvis got married in Blue Hawaii. The hotel was only a 5 minute walk from part of the Hawaiian Marathon so I went and watched all the runners go passed. I hadn't run since I got ITBS in 1986, but was so inspired, when I got home I purchased a pair of shoes and took my first run on 31 December and have kept running since then. So not only was it relaxing, but it changed my life for the better as well.

    I have no experience with the brand. In other news, I ran a half marathon yesterday in Long Beach with my S/E Speeds V1 at a time of 2:11:07. Not bad for a 65 year old who just started running this year from scratch. I will keep it simple: In my easy chair watching TV with my beloved cat purring in my lap when the day is done.

    The woods. I just spent two weeks in a caravan next to woods and moors. Unfortunately no running because of a bad knee problem, so just walking. No other sounds than that of birds, the wind in the trees and the occasional boar (we surprised each other, looked at each other for a minute or two and went our separate ways). Just quietly walking taking notice of everything around me. Now I'm home again full of new energy and ideas.

    It has a glass fiber plate for a change. Similar glass plate inside the Adidas Takumi (2021) .
    I belive that the idea to make glass fiber instead using the other material is to have much similar weight and durability of the carbon fiber plates with less cost . Seems a nice trainer for short bursts up to 10km .

    QD: I distinctly remember visiting Yosemite in October 2007. Made the beautiful hike from the valley to Half Dome. The cables were down, but I climbed to the top nevertheless. Up there I was all alone. I sat on a protruding ledge on the edge of the big face, watching over the valley. It was amazingly serene, quite unreal!

    I have the Speed 2, Mark 4 and the New Balance RC elite two. My favorite shoe is the Mizuno rebellion. This is the first Mizuno that I've ever bought. I love the plate in there because it gives it a great aggressive rocker motion. Every time I put the shoe on I run my fastest times ever. This shoe is great for the road, the trail, and even the track. Way faster and I mean way faster than the Saucony speed 2. My first race was a half marathon in Columbia Missouri and it was a trail run. I saved about three minutes off my half marathon. I'm thinking about using the shoe when I run the Magnolia Silo District Marathon in Texas. I love my New Balance RC elite 2 but I think they might be too soft for a long distance.

    As far as durability goes I'd have to give Karhu a well deserved shoutout. Even though they aren't my favorite brand to run in I've had several pairs with hundreds of miles on them before they show signs of wear. They remind me of Toyota trucks in the fact that even with higher mileage they still ride good as new. For a brand which such a rich history it's too bad more people aren't familiar with them.

    QD: Strangely enough the most relaxing place I’ve ever been was 10000 feet above the earth the first time I went skydiving. Even during the adrenaline rush of free falling, I remember thinking to myself that I have never felt more free. Once the chute opened and I floated back down to reality, I just gazed around in amazement at the earth with a slight wind through my chute being the only noise. To this day it was the most relaxing and peaceful place I ever had been.

    QD: St. Augustine, Florida, or on a cruise ship.
    Seems like this shoe is similar to Asics new Kinsei Blast running shoe, where the Asics is using FF Blast, a pebax plate from heel to mid foot, and, of course, Asics GEL. The price point is exactly the same, too. $180, which is a little insane to me, but I think you hit it on the head with some companies needing to lose that “signature” piece to make the shoes better, like coming back to Asics. No GEL in the Novablast, and it’s an amazing daily trainer. If Mizuno could rid of that plate, they’d probably have a really awesome daily offering, but would need to price it around the Novablast/Pegasus/Velocity Nitro range.

    Seth, as we know, most runners typically meet their running mileage to complete races. As we all know, you are not a typical runner. Nutrition, weight training, flexibility/mobility and rest are equally important. As of today, I am no longer a typical runner. I finished my first 100 mile ultra yesterday (at age 59). All was well until just over halfway when the running gods broke out the magnifying glass. I knew my achilles and hips were my weekness. This race put the exclamation point on my weakness. Now I need a whole body plan. Any suggestions on where to find one? You, Truelove and the boys are such an inspiration to my family. God bless.

    • @blainmasterson3053
      @blainmasterson3053 3 года назад

      You need significant time off for starters- 100 milers have never done any body any good. Frankly, you'll be lucky if you haven't done permanent damage to your already weakened areas. Take some time, pour your energy into other outlets. Walk, bike, maybe do some light lifting in a few weeks. Time off is your only option; you do not want to rush back

    Mizuno waiveraider is still my preferred shoe, they last 500+ miles, vs asics that I can only use 300+. They were leading in the era of stiff soles, but with softer and bouncy foams, thing are changing a bit. The plate work better for heel strikers, and you Set are a fore foot striker, may be that is why you don’t like it. I bought the Hokas match 4 based on your review, but they never fit well for me. May be we have very different foot strike, and mizuno does not work well for you. And for a daily trainer, I prefer a shoe not too light, so I feel the difference in race day.

      @@nunoborgesdias6332 I ended up on a bit of a long path of shoes not working for me. I got the Mach 4 and returned them after 8 miles because Hoka's sadly just destroy my little toes due to some unknown reason of my foot not agreeing with their toe box. I then got the NB 1080 V11 that I got 150 miles in before the heel counter on that thing causing severe pain (pain started after like 20 miles but I kept using them before giving them away). I now am on a pair of novablast 1's that I got for $70. They work well enough, even though my right foot feels like it is pushing over the insole of it.
