Wale... Most headphones on a casual stroll through an electronics section are still cheaper (with those which are much more expensive just seeming unreasonable in contrast). So this is already a serious investment for many casual buyers.
EDWARD VISCARELLI Probably, considering Utopia cannot match any other headphone in its price range like stax 009/007, abyss phi and hifiman susvara in terms of sonics.
Brainwavz HM5 even though are not bluetooth/noise isolation headphones are great in isolating noise and sound great with the best to detach/replaceable ear pads ( sought after ear pads around ) or if you want some style go with the M40x.
Finally someone who mentions the bonehead Anti-Feature that disables passive mode. I hate not being able to use these without powering them on! I ended up with an extra pair of these after trying to return another because not the volume being too low. I don't like them much for music but they are killer for white noise. The fact that I can't use them passively without running the battery would be a boner killer on trips. Guess I'll stick with my Galaxy Buds for every else. Nice review! Best one I've seen for these, in fact.
I love the recommendations at the end. I keep telling people that if you want noise cancelling, bluetooth, over-ear headphones that also make a great coffee, the trade-off's are so massive that it's not worth bothering, but I don't know what to recommend as an alternative, so these suggestions are great!
I can't use them if the switch is off ??? And they do sound like they have a short when NC is on the first pair I had of them I did not have to have them on.
awesome honest review. def. change camera angle.:) hyper critical but thats good thing. loved all the details to back up your opinion. suggestions dont help though if your not recomending a similar product. I need wireless criteria #1. pricepoint #2. double the price isnt in the same region. and wired phones or in ear suggestions dont help. just leaving you some feedback not complaining. what are some wireless headphones you could recommend that have ball park price point under $100 with vs without noise canceling? thanks
Totally agree mate. I just ordered these specifically FOR the BT (I already own good wired headphones, for example the Sennheiser HD 6XX) but I just wanted reasonable BT for the phone, YT videos etc...) Luckily I got the E7 that do not have the NC (only $30 in 2021) cos I knew I didn't need that. Even after his great review, it sounds like there are STILL no other low priced BT cans that are legit competitors to these E7's....
@InnerFidelity Do these make a deafening loud beep sound if volume sets too high when pressing the volume up button? I had this problem with mpow headphones I was afraid to control volume from the headphone because the beep noise would give headache. it is better if it is a voice talking.
Hello all. I'm going to ask this question assuming Tyll is too busy to answer, but hoping one of you might pick it up. I'm trying to EQ out a hotspot in a pair of headphones. Is it better to set the parameters myself using a peak EQ filter, or to use a notch filter and only define the gain reduction? Thanks! :-)
I just recently purchased these. headphones. Paired them with my MacBook and they worked great. Now the bluetooth will not come on...macbook recognizes it and when I click connect it won't pair. Do you have any helpful tips to figure out what is wrong? I was loving these headphones when the bluetooth was working. Thank you
Can you do a review of the Ghostek Solo 2 bluetooth headphone. The are the same from the outside in design and button layout as the RBH. Is there any connection between the two?
From his article: "Look, noise canceling is a tricky, tricky thing; it costs real money to do it right. If you can't afford $200-$300 for noise cancelers and you're going to spend 16 hours on an airplane, I'd suggest an inexpensive pair of in-ear headphones like the $70 HiFiMAN RE-400 Waterline in-ear monitors. If you're okay with sticking things in your ears, in-ear monitors generally offer even better isolation from outside noise than most noise cancelers. If you don't really need noise canceling but want some isolation from the outside world, the Creative Aurvana Live ($69) sound darn good. If you can spend more, the Audio Technica ATH-M50x (~$150), or better yet, the Sennheiser HD 569 ($179) will deliver a much better listening experience and better isolation than the Creative Aurvana Live! If you simply must have a wireless, noise canceling headphone, the AKG N60NC ($299) on-ear is as low-priced as I can recommend in good conscience. At that point, you're really probably better off crying once and pop for the world-class Bose Quiet Comfort 35 ($349)." Thank you very much. I don't mind getting in-ear headphones so I'll probably get the HiFiMAN RE-400. Thank you so much for saving me $70!!
So it would be better to get regular wired headphones? Could you please recommend some good wired headphones for cinema, with good lows, mids and highs? Less expensive the better.
ryan011193 Hi Ryan, unfortunately I haven't had the opportunity to listen to them yet, but I'm considering buying a pair. Just would have loved to hear Tyls opinion on them because it was his review that sold me on the LCD 2's :)
This guy is a full on audiophile, so his standards are a little different than most peoples'. The other headphones he mentioned were more expensive, or if they were a similar price they weren't bluetooth. So what he isn't doing is taking into account if these are good bluetooth headphones for the price for the average person.
Well for what I used it for it wasn't so bad. Usually use them when I'm cutting grass. Very comfy on my ears. I thought 39 bucks was excellent for these.
RE400, the IEM that couldn't last a week without cable fraying. So if you're planning to buy one, look for a moder who's willing to replace the cable or mod it to removable cable.
I've had my RE-400 in ear's for a month. ripped them out of the jack on accident a few times, and have had zero issue with build quality. Perhaps your sample was an older revision. Plus, they have been $49 with Prime for quite a while. That is what I paid for it a month ago.
I bought cheap £15 BT brand bluetooth and they clamp so bad I heated the band and stretched them, the headphone cup is too small too and the pairing noise is audible. The sound quality is awesome though and really loud and bassy with no mush. The driver is massive. It has a radio. I will not buy higher priced one's because they all have 250mAh batteries including in Sennheiser £350 one's. These one's came with 600mAh because they have level lights that go up and down when sound goes through and because the extra circuit is wasting electric it was draining in 2.5 - 3 hours so I put 1050mAh in it like I do with all bluetooth headphones. I have not found a perfect pair though I have the best sound quality other than the pairing noise, these beat the senneiser. What' am I going to an extra £335 for a tiny battery and bland sound. They are all shite. I might bypass the bleeding circuit that drains battery.
They're fantastic at that price (299 MSRP remember) but the ANC is pretty underwhelming. Very similar to the UE6000 in that regard. Minor low freq coverage and that's about it. It doesn't block my computer fan fully for example. Remember reading an article a while back from Tyll saying he liked the A01 run passively. Maybe now would be a good time for him to revisit them since they're so absurdly cheap?
Darth Vader,, Holy Shit,, I thought it was me,, Looks like a Small Cessna Airplane ready to takeoff,, if he Sneezed,, BROKEN CAMERA,, THANKS FOR SPOTTING IT ALSO, DISGUSTING!!!!!!!
This headphone is trash. I bought one and it doesn’t work. There is no customer support nor can I contact customer service. There is a number, but no one answer it.

Concerning Trump, it depends on what you define as 'good'. Some of us are actually crazy enough to like lower taxes, 4.1% GDP, a thriving economy, a white hot job market and rising wages.
Oh course bose and beats sound better this guy is a clown they are not even close to sound and quality but we are talking about of cheap headphones for entry level people here most people can't afford a $300 or more set of headphones that include to ordinary MO who has a 9 to 5
For a moment I thought Luke Skywalker was reviewing headphones.....
There is also that late 1970s vibe.
I could tell the outcome of your review by the tone of your voice in the intro. Really goes to show how much price matters to the general public.
Wale... Most headphones on a casual stroll through an electronics section are still cheaper (with those which are much more expensive just seeming unreasonable in contrast). So this is already a serious investment for many casual buyers.
if this guy was my grandpa i would call him everyday to see how his days going
...but are they on par with the Focal Utopia's?
Pretty close I'd say.
EDWARD VISCARELLI Probably, considering Utopia cannot match any other headphone in its price range like stax 009/007, abyss phi and hifiman susvara in terms of sonics.

Is it a good pair of headphones for a newbi to the headphone/wireless headphone game
was anyone shocked at how long they were when he stretched the headband out
what is the best affordable and quality sound bt headphones for the price with its own volume control. some vlume doesn't go up high enough,
These are good for gym and office use. I have HD 598 for flac listening and gaming.
Which are the perfect over ear headphones? Which would you buy if you had the money? thanks
I can't use them if the switch is off ??? And they do sound like they have a short when NC is on the first pair I had of them I did not have to have them on.
Haha! I like the barely restrained disgust. :)

Can you use them through jack if you are charging them? Is it possible to charge them through 3.5 jack?

What's the best pair of wireless headphones that costs around 50/60$?
honest man ...
I always believe your opinion
Anyone think that the next review is going to be the AKG N60C?
he already did a review of those
Joshua Begin I know, I just found it odd for the box to be in the background.
Thxs Tyll. That seemed to be a bit of a struggle.
thanks for the thoughtful review. i very much appreciate your effort and the sharing. thumbs up.
Hey Tyler, can you do a review on the Beoplay H9?
Max Patrick I hope you have chance to listen to the Beoplay H9 as they really surprised me. Superb headphone in my opinion for their price point.
I also hope Tyl does a review to see if he agrees with me or not
ryan011193 Hi Ryan, unfortunately I haven't had the opportunity to listen to them yet, but I'm considering buying a pair. Just would have loved to hear Tyls opinion on them because it was his review that sold me on the LCD 2's :)
Can't believe that you didn't put the pxc sennheiser 550's on the wall. Beautiful sounding headphone imo.
Thanks for a honest review...

bjue thoot lasted only 2 or 3 months have to be attack to the cable warranty won't respond
Why take 15:36 just to say that the headphones are CRAP 1 ?
They aren't it's literally just him that seems to really hate them in a review
0:56 to 1.05 that kiled me xD
they were on sale for a hot second today on Amazon for 39 bucks!
Vincent Rogers yeah I just got a pair ! But I'm scared now they're gonna be terrible, due to these reviews...
I use them while cutting grass, ...actually there not bad. I'm about to take them to London next week on a plane
how'd it go?
Well for what I used it for it wasn't so bad. Usually use them when I'm cutting grass. Very comfy on my ears. I thought 39 bucks was excellent for these.
Toby Bromfield where they good I ordered one of them yesterday but scared it ganna be bad
why did i never heard of this phones?

Saw these on Amazon and I was tempted but went with non Bluetooth Sennheiser HD201 in the end
I bought cheap £15 BT brand bluetooth and they clamp so bad I heated the band and stretched them, the headphone cup is too small too and the pairing noise is audible. Are you Santa Claus?
Best seller Amazon: i might have gone with Sony MDR or Audio Tech 30/40/50x.
For $70 bucks you cannot expect a bluetooth and noise cancelling headphone to sound good.
Timothy Hudson the A-Audio A01 are $20 on Amazon and are supposed to be good, esp for the price
