Annie Oakley grew up three miles from my house and her grave is five minutes from where I live. It’s pretty amazing to see Reba playing her childhood hero and living and working where Annie Oakley was ! Reba come to Darke County !
amazing Reba McEntire did AWESOME and I think better than any other performer who has ever played Annie Oakley sorry girls you've all been outdone. Reba became Annie in this part and you can tell in her voice the fun and joy she had doing this and her voice out sings them all . once again girls sorry but you've been out done by the rebster.
I had the great good luck to have seen both Reba McEntire and Ethel Merman perform Annie and they were both equally great. The musical direction of the Merman 1966 revival was much stronger and truer to Irving Berlin's original intent. The new arrangements they did of the music for this revival took the music too far afield for my taste. Check out Patti Lupone's performance of Annie and see how much stronger YOU CAN'T GET A MAN is when it doesn't go through all those key changes and sudden tempo changes.
Kind of thinking Reba might not be human........lol. Is it really possible for someone to be this perfect at everything, let alone just an all-around decent human being and humanitarian? God had a really good day when He made Reba...................that's all I can say :) What's that saying........"often imitated, never equaled". Yup...........that's Reba.

The legendary Barbara Cook said of this show: "When Reba McEntire did “Annie Get Your Gun,” I put off seeing it for practically the whole time it was here because I thought: “Are you kidding me? A country singer doing Annie?” I was persuaded to go, and I was knocked out. It was one of the best performances I’ve ever seen."

It's about Annie Oakley, a real person, who joined a travelling wild west show. She was the greatest woman sharp shooter of her time. Annie came from a very poor home and was responsible for seeing her younger siblings were fed. The stage show had a lot of humour and great songs.

She is phenomenal! I would kill for a recording of this with Bernadette Peters as Annie, but Reba is amazing too!

Don't know what the problem is I have increased the audio, it plays fine for me. It is in mono not stereo.

I would kill for a recording of the abbreviated televised Lincoln center revival with Orbach and Merman.
I had a few comments about the sound so added more volume.
