    Hey Paul. Can you please create a tutorial for ACPT Repeater field and how to output it in Bricks? The main reason I have not switched to Bricks is because outputting Repeater fields is difficult and requires custom css. However, in Elementor, you have Dynamic ooo, which has really simple repeater templates for elementor. So, does acpt make repeater output easier in bricks? If yes, can you please do a video before black friday?

      Thanks for the feedback. Using Bricks in the video, it defaults to 62.5% for rem usage and that’s where the 10px value comes from.
      If I’d changed it to 100% to get the standard 16px 1 rem value I’d imagine a lot of new Bricks may have missed that change and wondered why their spacing was different to mine. 😉

    Hi Paul, I know that a lot of people are going to laugh at this question, and I am sure I am missing something here, but... "What is the point of these plugins like ACF Meta Box and ACPT?" When you are in Guttenberg using something like Kadence, you can layout a post or a page in any way you like. So if you build a template and then fill in each post with the information that you have generated within these plugins, are you not duplicating the post twice and putting more load on the server? Everyone, stop laughing.

    • @WPTuts
      @WPTuts  7 месяцев назад +3

      It's not a stupid question at all.
      Tools like ACPT allow you to create your own custom post types and include all manner of different meta fields (think of meta fields like the post title, excerpt, featured image, etc.), but you can create your own in any combination.
      If you do that, using the default WordPress post template (that's the template that is included in pretty much every theme available, including Kadence), you will only see the standard WordPress meta fields (title, content, etc.)
      To be able to display all your own custom meta fields you would need to create a new custom template and assign that to your new custom post type and choose where you want to display your default WordPress meta fields as well as your newly created custom ones.
      As for adding extra strain on the server. It's not really a major issue as this is no real difference to using the default ones created by your theme. The server resources would be pretty much identical in most situations.
      I hope that helps. :)

      As an example, you could conceivably create a real estate website with generic WordPress. But it would be hard to have things like an Advanced Search that lets visitors choose how many bedrooms and bathrooms a set of houses should have in their search results. And put all those houses on a map. That's why we use the type of approach Paul is demonstrating here.
      We use

    • @TLCOnlineChannel

      @@WPTuts Hi Paul, thank you for your reply. OK, I would like to dig deeper into this topic. So I set up some extra fields to go on a post. Let's say - Property location, Schools in the area, Price of the property, colour of wall property, what are the neighbours like. etc. You set this up in a template and looking at your videos, (Which I have for years) you then go to property, which is now in the menu on the left-hand side and click "New Property", so at this point you have a new post. Then you fill out all the details about the property and click "Publish" So you now have a new post in the property section of the website. - OK What is to stop me from doing a patten with the required information, as above and just pulling a new patten into each post as I go along. I am sure, as I said be for, I am missing something. And Paul, I am not trying to be funny by asking these questions - I think I am just a little thick on this subject.

    • @WPTuts
      @WPTuts  7 месяцев назад +4

      @@TLCOnlineChannel you absolutely could pull in the details from a Pattern if you wanted to. There is nothing stopping you doing that and in some circumstances it would work fine,
      But, it lacks flexibility and scale and for a simple example like adding a couple of extra pieces of information in it would work. When you scale up, it becomes incredibly unwieldy.
      For example, let's keep with the real estate analogy. You have a blog, properties & agents all using the standard WP post type and use Patterns to pull in data to each of those different post types.
      Now, scale that up to 1000 properties that use various taxonomies to group them (houses, flats, apartments, commercial, etc.), then add in your blog that has another 10 taxonomies and different patterns and finally you have your agents that may be group (via taxonomies) to various locations, business sizes, multiple employees, etc.
      All of that information inside the default posts in WordPress would become a nightmare to manage from a structure point of view as well as from a design point of view.
      It makes a lot more sense to create dedicated custom post types and related taxonomies for your properties, agents and use the default WP posts for your blog.
      You could then create a template for your properties that displays all the relevant data and custom meta fields without the added steps of adding in patterns just to handle that data.
      The same goes for your agents which could then use a relationship to connect them to the properties they are selling and include that data in your properties template and have everything handled dynamically and all you need to to do is fill out the relevant meta fields and everything else is handled for you.
