fuga is a prequel to both solatorobo and tail concerto. another fun fact: in one of sock's link event he says he wants to make tank with feet, which i think are used in both games.
@@arekushi_ninjo2454If I am right it is a fact that Socks is the ancestor of Merville, an important character for Solatorobo's plot so even if he wasn't able to build tanks with feet his decendant did
If you want to know why the language is only in French or Japanese, you'll have to ask the creator on why no English. Reason for French is due to the fantasy location your moving around on. The giant land your roaming is called Gasco and the big city you see is called Paresia, where you can see what looks like an Eiffel Tower. Another fun factor is whatever language you pick, any song that involves Choir will sing either French or Japanese which is a nice touch.
Spoilers for Solatorobo and the rest of the franchise Gasco (and the Sheperd Republic of Solatorobo) is on france, like THE france, our france after making it float to the skies do to the events of the background of the setting.

It's great to see you playing this, it's a really underappreciated title. The developers definitely made this as a passion project, and they even made a sequel despite the first one doing poorly in sales. I can't wait for the third series! You should do challenges for the other Tail Bronx games too!
21:45 You could actually just leave the guns empty to prevent anyone getting injuries: game lets you do any party as long as at least one person is active (to make "all kids dead" runs possible) and back row does not receive status effects. Also that was a nice run and very cool way of avoiding chapter 11 and main story spoilers, *tank* you very much
I HAVE BEEN LOOKING FOR THIS GAME FOR MONTHS. I remember getting it from "somewhere" a long time ago near it's release date and being really interested in it's story and gimmicks but not able to finish it. Thx for reminding me of the name i will go play it again :D

I fucking LOVE this game to death, Jin's best boi. SO awesome to see someone doing a challenge run of all things on it. This game deserves so much more recognition than it gets. Especially its sequel.
Thanks to you I found out about this game and immediately bought it and am having a great time playing it. Please do more challenges from less popular games because challenges to popular games are plenty.
THIS VIDEO WAS AWESOME!!! Fuga Melodies of Steel is one of my favorite rpgs of all time. It's actually a prequel to an obscure game series called Little Tail Bronx, which consists of Tail Concerto on the PS1 and Solatorobo on the DS. I'd highly recommend checking it out! Keep up the great content!!!
Ironically, this challenge would have been even harder if not impossible if you had taken the easier paths. You need the resources from the hard paths to really bulk up your tank/guns for the boss battles.
Wow. The art style in this game is absolutely GORGEOUS! I think alternating between smaller and bigger games would be fun. E.g. one video FFXVI, then one vid Chained Echoes, then Pokémon, etc
This game is a part of the Little Tail Bronx series, a CyberConnect2 original concept. It involves a post apocalyptic world where humans went extinct due to the giant robots and living machines they created for war. Humanity was replaced by dogs and cats that created their own society and unearthed some of the advanced technology to better their civilization. TL;DR: Post-apocalyptic world, furries, giant robots, mech suits and aircrafts are the staple of the series. There's also magic, but it's extremely rare.
As someone who grew up with Tail Concerto for the PS1, I really hope CyberConnect makes more games with the Little Tail Bronx IP, and I don't just mean Fuga. If you want an idea for another obscure game to look into doing challenge runs for, might I recommend Legend of Dragoon? It's an oldie that a lot of people have played, but oddly, no one ever talks about.
I really want to see games during the Shephard/Abyssinia wars, either during the tail end of the hundred lilies war to see how the first mechs were developed, or during the incantation wars to see how the revolutions went and how Shephard turned from kingdom to republic.
I'm happy to see you showcase lesser known games; in that case it basically serves as part challenge run and part review. While it's undeniable that you'd get more traction if you focussed on well-known games, I think you should do what makes you happy. If growing the channel is your #1 priority above all else, to the point of being a business, then sure, focus on bigger games. But if you aren't as focussed on that, then you should cover whatever games and runs bring you the most personal joy!
Honestly had no idea that CyberConnect2 had broken out from the licensed anime mines at any point since Asura's Wrath, cool to learn they're working with original IP again
It's too bad that Bandai doesn't care about originality and only what sells, and while CC2 technically is a independent company the vast majority of their work comes from or gets owned by Bandai so they are too busy to do personal stuff or Bandai just says no
@@RubescentDragonI mean, that's how LTB is still alive and they're making the Fuga sequels despite the first one bombing. The licensed anime game money is keeping it afloat.
This is my first time ever seeing this game 😃 As for content, I don't mind seeing challenge runs of less known games, mainly because they give plenty of possibilities for original and outside the box ideas and it's always great to get to know new games, especially on your channel who never spoils anything major. So just do whatever challenge you feel like. I'll always watch everything you upload 😉
You have no idea how happy I am to see someone, especially such an entertaining creator, make a Fuga challenge run! It's one of my favorite games of all time :D
I absolutely loved this video and i did not even know about the game before hand i would love to see you do a follow up video on the sequel or hell even a mini lets play on this game i think it would super fun to watch u play the game and then do challenge runs on it. Even so keep up the incredible videos love every single video you have made so far.
After all this time having seen your upload and not wanting to spoil myself, I finally bought the game myself and playing it is something different! Thank you for showing the game, I'm gonna watch this video the second I've finished the game :)
The art for this game is so cute! I love the character designs and just the overall look of the game. It's not a game I'd play personally, but it looks like a great game. Also, your channel, you pick the games. I'll watch whatever you make. (as long as its not a game I have been avoiding spoilers for)
Good video man! I love both Fuga 1 and 2 and it is nice to see these games get the praise and recognition they deserve. I've also been trying a challenge run of my own for these games, NTU. (No Tank Upgrades) Based off of FFXIII's NCU Challenge, (No Crystarium Usage) it basically means... 1: No upgrading the Taranis' weapons, armor, reactor or facilities. 2: No save scumming for favorable notebook wishes like Secret Gardens. (If you know, you know) 3: No Deluxe Edition for bonus items. 4: Get the true ending. (No Soul Cannon and ALL children survive) And 5: Always choose the hardest path if possible. If anyone wants to try this challenge out, then by all means, be my guest!
I checked out this game on steam, only to notice they have a “tail concerto” costume pack which led me down a rabbit hole of realising that the devs for this game are the ones who made “tail concerto”, “.hack”, “solotorobo”, “asura’s wrath” and a bunch of “Naruto”, “JoJo” and “dragon ball z” games. I’m actually surprised these guys aren’t better known after having been responsible for a small pile of cult classics.
Oh, right, since you asked, the orbs that final boss spawns are random and help out his tank and Managarm cannon (or have a small chance of restoring your SP (and I think HP too?) if you destroy them in time). Blue ones restore his armor, Yellow ones speed him up and I never let Red ones do their thing (would they heal up final boss and Managarm? Make attacks stronger? We might never learn)
My opinion about the balance of popular vs. less common games is that it can't hurt to have a mix of both. The flagship titles draw in the broadest audience, but the people who love those niche games will cherish every video about it much more (and there's significantly less competition in search results, if we're being cynical about it). I've seen a lot of creators get pigeonholed into one specific game or franchise so deeply that it ultimately implodes their channel when they get burnt out on it, so it can be useful to establish yourself as a variety channel to help defend against that, especially while you're still growing yourself. It's the difference between your core audience seeing an unfamiliar game and going "Never heard of it, but if he's covering it must be interesting" rather than "WTF is this I came here for Final Fantasy, why aren't you talking about Final Fantasy??" Anyway, niche games are mostly niche because of lack of attention, so without people covering them, they're inevitably going to languish in obscurity. Consider, for example: the popularization and revitalization of the Yakuza franchise outside of Japan can unironically be linked to a couple of popular Canadian RUclipsrs talking about how much they love the series and doing videos about it in the mid 10s.
I can just feel the status condition Depression hitting me just by watching this. I can tell Chapter 1 is the biggest wall (if not doing new game plus) and especially when we get to Chapter 7 boss and just surviving near the final boss of the game. This is incredible. Still having trouble grabbing all the orange gears on my 1st and 2nd games and kinda wish there was a proper guide for each specific gear your supposed to be doing.
I'm pretty sure most of us are here for you not just the games! I haven't played a good chunk of the games you've run on this channel. TBH I think the only one I've played and finished is actually Persona 5 ~darts off to check~ Ah. Persona 5 Royal I've played and finished. FFXV I've played but procrastinated the ending(I got sucked into the fandom before I played it so...yeah we're in happy happy world of aus over here lol) and than needed to ditch it for space for xiv and genshin(and than my laptop died while considering a memory upgrade wheeee). FFX I've played but never finished due to borrowing it. Persona Strikers I've played but not finished. So...yeah a good chunk of these I've never played or finished. Your passion for the games comes through in the videos and it really makes it an enjoyable experience no matter what game it is and introduces me to new ones to put on my wishlist!
I forgot to comment when i first saw the video, but i love how you adjusted "we need to ~grind some more~" to fit this challenge! Also, love the lesser known rpg videos!
It was on gamepass until the sequel came out, and now the sequel is on gamepass. One strategy you can utilize that you did not here- Switch your team to allow who you need to attack next. For example, red are the slowest to move and blue are the fastest. If you do not need to heal, you can swap your Hannah/Kyle team for your Boron/Malt team when it is Kyle's turn to go. This allows Boron to attack again immediately for more damage. The sequel is more of the same, but the abilities are different and the soul cannon is forced after 20 turns of it being activated so you have to "beat the clock" to keep all the kids alive. It is harder to keep everybody alive in the sequel because of this.
Yo this game looks awesome! I'm surprised I haven't seen *any* coverage of this game at all before. Maybe the anthropomorphic military moe WW2 genre is just a little too niche. The gameplay looks great though, it reminds me a lot of Skies of Arcadia's skyship combats.
Hearing that the Soul Canon is optional might be the thing that finally tips me to finally pick this up. My brother and I, well, WE JUST CAN'T STAND TRAGEDIES. The thought that we'd have no choice but to start sacrificing the little kiddies was too painful for us, but if you can beat the game without it and heck, without even ITEMS and SKILLS, then surely we can go for that golden ending ourselves.
Since the second one is a direct sequel I advice against playing it first. But the first game has a free demo which is just straight up the first 3 chapters of the game. I would rather recommend this if you want to try it out instead of playing the games out of order.
great video, love to see a good rpg challenge run edit- realise that sounds like a bot post. I didn't have much to say on the game itself but the run was great as usual.
There is a red orb but he just didn’t summon it because you killed him too before he could also these orbs when defeated grant health or SP I don’t know what they do either because I killed them faster than they could act
The French dialogue is twofold. Primarily, it is an artistic choice: the region this and Solatorobo (also in French) is set is based on France and even incorporates French myths such as the Tarrasque. But, Cyberconnect also had until very recently a Canadian Studio in Montreal - so French would be quite an accessible thing to add
more lesser known is a pretty cool idea. Plus hey now I got a game I want to play now that being said...hmm How about beating Metal Saga for the PS2 with only one Tank (I think you can go one tank) that or tankless using only non-tanks
I would love to see someone who has a audience do challenge runs on games that I guess would be known as "cult classics" but do you know why they are called that? It's because back in the day they are games that the then small but vocal gaming community loved and were loved as much as main line titles like but because the franchise stopped getting sequels and overshadowed by new releases and new people joining the community after it's no longer in the spot light that would have been a bigger spot light if they came out when there was a bigger audience. Like a good example of this is back in my young internet days you say the letters LoL everyone would know right away you meant Legend of Legaia but now it's so forgotten that LoL now means League of Legends. So I'm talking about games or franchises like that. I'm thinking Legend of Legaia, Shadow Hearts, Wild Arms, .Hack, Breath of Fire, Suikoden and many more like this. Like you say at the start of this video it probably won't do well but with big enough of a following at least it will get out and interest SOMEONE.
i also never let spheres from final battle attack, but i'm fairly certain at least that destroying the blue ones gives back energy. edit: there are red spheres, not tied to type of weapon main body uses, completely random.
Radiant Historia was one of my most favourite lesser known RPG's, you should have a look at it at some point, the gameplay is very unique. Love your videos though.
OK before I even want to video I just wanna say thank you for giving this game Attention because it honestly deserves it And I already left a like and Subscribed immediately Also can you do fuga 2
There was a rpg for the ps2 i think you played as a Anthro tiger cub at first you fight a wild boar as a boss but i cant for the life of me remember its name if anyone knows please tell me
Baum and Stollen were nearly correct! Baum works, Stollen is a german type of cake. St in german is pronounced like Sht, like... shtick! So next time, if you find a german word that starts with St, you can pronounce it correctly!
Im down to watch any challenge run, I just want to see how youll suffer next. Ive been playing throught Trails of the Sky for the first time, so maybe a no Orbal arts challenge of one of those games might be worth trying
French is the only Western language that got a dub for this game? Are the French secretly massive furries or something? EDIT: Oh wait, it's about fighting the Germans, that explains it somewhat
So I'm not familiar with this game, but if the Soul Cannon causes perma-death and you can Save and Load then rather then sacrificing your characters shouldn't you just load and make better decisions as opposed to risking ending up with an unwinnable save file because you kept relying on the Soul Cannon? Mechanically this seems like a major oversight.
Great video as always. I’ve had this game on my wishlist for awhile now so I’ll definitely have to pick it up when it goes on sale. Also I was wondering… can you beat FF7 Remake with all characters wearing the enfeeblement ring?
You come forward with a run every now and again that just leaves me like wow just cause you could eh. What's next can you beat Tony hawks pro skater 4 without a skate board 😂😂😂😂

If anyone wants to try this challenge out, then by all means, be my guest!
This isn't a JRPG, it's strategy/tactical RPG.
Thanks, that's very interesting!
Game looks interesting. Will give it a try :)
that's what she said
Great stuff! I think there's a free demo to try first, because the game can be quite pricey.
Мега харош (Interesting fact, the Fuga is unexpectedly popular in Russia)
My opinion about the balance of popular vs. less common games is that it can't hurt to have a mix of both. The flagship titles draw in the broadest audience, but the people who love those niche games will cherish every video about it much more (and there's significantly less competition in search results, if we're being cynical about it). I've seen a lot of creators get pigeonholed into one specific game or franchise so deeply that it ultimately implodes their channel when they get burnt out on it, so it can be useful to establish yourself as a variety channel to help defend against that, especially while you're still growing yourself. It's the difference between your core audience seeing an unfamiliar game and going "Never heard of it, but if he's covering it must be interesting" rather than "WTF is this I came here for Final Fantasy, why aren't you talking about Final Fantasy??"
Anyway, niche games are mostly niche because of lack of attention, so without people covering them, they're inevitably going to languish in obscurity.
Thanks, that means a lot! 😀
I hope I keep making videos that you enjoy.
I think this game is a spirtual sequel to Solatarobo
I forgot to comment when i first saw the video, but i love how you adjusted "we need to ~grind some more~" to fit this challenge!
Also, love the lesser known rpg videos!
The French sold me.
I only briefly heared about this one.
the chapter 3 boss was a very intense and difficult battle for me.
i enjoyed it a lot despite how difficult i found it
Yo this game looks awesome! I'm surprised I haven't seen *any* coverage of this game at all before. Maybe the anthropomorphic military moe WW2 genre is just a little too niche. The gameplay looks great though, it reminds me a lot of Skies of Arcadia's skyship combats.
Fuga 2 next?
Hearing that the Soul Canon is optional might be the thing that finally tips me to finally pick this up. My brother and I, well, WE JUST CAN'T STAND TRAGEDIES. The thought that we'd have no choice but to start sacrificing the little kiddies was too painful for us, but if you can beat the game without it and heck, without even ITEMS and SKILLS, then surely we can go for that golden ending ourselves.
Thank you for championing this game. More should play it
Your narration makes it interesting. That's all.
Well this will be interesting. I know the second one is still on Game Pass and I've been curious...
Since the second one is a direct sequel I advice against playing it first.
But the first game has a free demo which is just straight up the first 3 chapters of the game. I would rather recommend this if you want to try it out instead of playing the games out of order.
great video, love to see a good rpg challenge run
edit- realise that sounds like a bot post. I didn't have much to say on the game itself but the run was great as usual.
I loved Fuga 1 & 2
one day i'll see a Radiata Stories challenge.
There is a red orb but he just didn’t summon it because you killed him too before he could also these orbs when defeated grant health or SP I don’t know what they do either because I killed them faster than they could act
Great Job once again
do whatever RPG you like , we are all here for the ride
The French dialogue is twofold.
Primarily, it is an artistic choice: the region this and Solatorobo (also in French) is set is based on France and even incorporates French myths such as the Tarrasque.
But, Cyberconnect also had until very recently a Canadian Studio in Montreal - so French would be quite an accessible thing to add
The japanese VA and french VA are the same
more lesser known is a pretty cool idea. Plus hey now I got a game I want to play now
that being said...hmm How about beating Metal Saga for the PS2 with only one Tank (I think you can go one tank) that or tankless using only non-tanks
Played both.
Is that a metal slug tank in the beginning of the video?
FUGA is awesome ty for this challenge
This game looks damn nice, I'm actually considering to buy it.
In the sequel you control the final villain's tank and he joins your crew
i also never let spheres from final battle attack, but i'm fairly certain at least that destroying the blue ones gives back energy.
edit: there are red spheres, not tied to type of weapon main body uses, completely random.
I really like your challenge runs, can you look and try a run on Medabots Metabee/Rokusho for the GBA?, i remember was not a easy game at all
Radiant Historia was one of my most favourite lesser known RPG's, you should have a look at it at some point, the gameplay is very unique. Love your videos though.
OK before I even want to video I just wanna say thank you for giving this game Attention because it honestly deserves it
And I already left a like and Subscribed immediately
Also can you do fuga 2
Thanks so much! Would love to do Fuga 2, it's absolutely AMAZING!
There was a rpg for the ps2 i think you played as a Anthro tiger cub at first you fight a wild boar as a boss but i cant for the life of me remember its name if anyone knows please tell me
Sounds like either Ty the Tasmanian Tiger or The Legend of Kay, neither of which are RPGs but match up otherwise.
@DisplayName317 it was legend of kay. THANK YOU. IT WAS DRAVING ME UP THE WALL
Baum and Stollen were nearly correct!
Baum works, Stollen is a german type of cake. St in german is pronounced like Sht, like... shtick!
So next time, if you find a german word that starts with St, you can pronounce it correctly!
amazing job, but I can't help but think you should have fed more orphans to the mana cannon to obliterate your enemies even harder.
He said at the begining no Soul Cannon
The Grenadiers never give me good RNG, man
Waitno wrong game
Im down to watch any challenge run, I just want to see how youll suffer next.
Ive been playing throught Trails of the Sky for the first time, so maybe a no Orbal arts challenge of one of those games might be worth trying
Gotta say that the French voice acting was performed by Japanese actors and is essential for the game's atmosphere and lore
French is the only Western language that got a dub for this game? Are the French secretly massive furries or something?
EDIT: Oh wait, it's about fighting the Germans, that explains it somewhat
So now you know why we in the Fuga community give Boron the humble title of "God".
I remember seeing this and being a little put off by the, ahem, character designs, but if you think it's good, maybe I'll give it a go!
Great video as always. I’ve had this game on my wishlist for awhile now so I’ll definitely have to pick it up when it goes on sale.
Also I was wondering… can you beat FF7 Remake with all characters wearing the enfeeblement ring?
I only just barely beat this game before it expired on the Xbox GamePass
Can you do this challenge for the sequel FUGA 2?
i would prefer spoiler warnings instead of cut content
You come forward with a run every now and again that just leaves me like wow just cause you could eh. What's next can you beat Tony hawks pro skater 4 without a skate board 😂😂😂😂
wtf.. you made that look so easy.
Yes! Fuga!
Can't believe they gave this French voice acting but not English
Challenge run of the sequel when?
My goat Fuga
