This two part song was from Tool’s 2006 album “10,000 days”. The album title has a double meaning: first, it’s roughly the orbital period of Saturn, and in astrology each “Saturn Return” in a person’s life is associated with transitioning to a different stage of being (adulthood, maturity, and old age/wisdom). The second meaning is that vocalist and lyricist Maynard James Keenan’s mother Judith Marie had a stroke in 1976 when Maynard was 11, and was confined to a wheelchair for the next roughly 10,000 days until her death in 2003. You’ve already reacted to the 2000 song “Judith” by Maynard’s other band A Perfect Circle, where he rather harshly criticized his mother for maintaining her strong Baptist faith after suffering so much. This track a few years after her death has a much different tone. This should get posted around Mother’s Day, so I guess that’s timely? I find it touching at least.

My mother passed away in 2020 after 17 years of being paralyzed and mute from a stroke. We read the "Shake your fist at the gates" lyrics at her funeral. Probably the only 72 year old to have TOOL lyrics read at their funeral.
My grandma was left quadriplegic after a bad fall for 8 years and has since passed away. She raised me and my brother so she was like our mom and father in one. this song definitely speaks to me in the same way I'm sure it speaks to you.

I say this with no offense intended: My soul hurt when she’s reacting to “colors” on this shitty fan made video instead of this emotional masterpiece song. A lyric video would have been much better.
They were all purged from the internet by Sony. One for part 1 got reposted recently and hasn’t been removed yet, but none for part 2.
Tool is one of those bands whose entire discography should be added to the national archives.

Yeah, that was an atrocious reaction. They may as well have been reacting to any other mainstream song. No analysis of the context, no contemplation about the meaning. Just woeful.
The band writes all the music first and then sends each song to the singer Maynard for him to write all the lyrics. Maynard plays the music in his car on long drives or while working on his winery and then he writes the lyrics after letting the music become a part of him.
It depends upon the song.

You have to listen to them all in order you have to listen to Jimmy then Judith and then wings for Marie 1 and 2
Great reaction (as usual). Tool has said repeatedly that they compose the body of music and then send to Maynard when it's complete (years). Maynard then feels and writes the lyrics adding both lyrics and inflections. They only do slight musical changes after sending them off to Maynard.

Very somber songs you may have missed the true meaning ,should have had lyrics
Sony and that mini mall copyright striking firm they hired purged every single non-Salival Tool lyric video from the internet after Fear Inoculum was released. A few have been reposted in the last year that a few heroes preserved and archived, but not for both parts of this song.
