The paper launch of all GPU's has been a blessing in disguise, great as miners have bought the dud designs. By the time cards are available for gamers the best of every category has been well reviewed.
Let's debunk your nonsense. 1. It wasn't a paper launch, as cards were available. 2. Miners arn't the ones who's buying RTX 3000 in droves. Infact they are hurt as much as the gamer, because the higher prices makes it that much harder to recoup the costs. Nor do they buy the same models, a miner don't care about noise or cooler design, all he cares about is price and undervolting. So they arn't exactly "beta testing" for the gamers..
@@Orcawhale1 "arn't" to aren't ; "who's" to who're ; there fixed it for you. All that you said is also nonsense, but my nonsense has no spelling mistakes so its more valid.
@@Orcawhale1 stating something without evidence isnt worth anything. You did debunk nothing. It was a paper launch full throttle and hes right with the miners. shortage is also a factor clearly.
They won't. All indications points to the: 1. MSRP having been set without taking into account premium on shipping due to the global pandemic (which... fair. AMD & Nvidia shouldn't change their products cost to include unprecedented shipping issues, usually not included in price) 2. Nvidia MSRP being set too low due to their chips requiring some premium parts to have the associated cards run well AND with decent temps (that's 100% on them) 3. MSRP set before the tarrif expiration, components shortage & a general unwillingness from AIBs to take on the added cost to make it transparent to customers (which... again... Fair. It's a business) Supply will improve with time and thus, the issue of scalpers will temporarily solve itself. Mining will still affect us and the shipping industry "global pandemic edition" will normalize itself slowly. But those MSRP? They aren't relevant anymore. Add 100-200$/€ due to shipping.
It seems the 6800XT isn't on stock everywhere. But AMD is pushing hard to get out as many GPUs as possible. Thank you AMD for your great efforts for PC Gamers.
I really do appreciate this review, although I would have loved to see a comparison between this and the 3080 TUF/TUF OC. I know I can look at the differences between the FE boards and the indiivdual TUF model reviews and extrapolate but it would have been helpful to include in one vid. Also, there is much talk over pricing and MSRP, but given the amount of time that has gone since these original prices am I the only one that has forgotten what these high end cards should (have) retail(ed) at? It's also difficult to keep track when hearing aussie currency. Any chance for GBP and/or USD? Although I understand that may be better asked on a different channel... if anyone reading this knows the answer please let me know!
bought the same one today, for 1353 AUD (in eastern europe, vat included), amazed by its quiet operation, thanks for the good review of the cooler and its components. Interestingly, Sapphire are using two bigger fans on the edge (100mm) but it does not give them advantage.
From what I have heard, AMD implemented the upper clock speed limit because that is the limit of the architecture. If it goes higher apparently it experiences logic failure
There are also segmentation purposes, the 6900XT can go up to 3000 Mhz (if the cooling and silicon quality are good enough), since it's the same die there is no reason for the 6800XT and 6800 to not have a 3000 Mhz limit as well if that is the true wall.
Keep it up with the content! It's much appreciated. I'm fairly certain I and some others may be coming back in a couple years to check out budget builds once MSRPs fall.
@Goblin Slayer The prices are ridiculous but me not buying a card isn't going to change that, so thought why not. Hopefully stock changes soon and everyone can get what they want.
Just bought a open box 6900XT TUF for $449 plus tax. Working great and it actually runs cooler than my 6700XT barely kicking in the fans around 56c game temp. This 6900XT actually runs around 80watts less in game than my 6700XT. That is due to the easier nature of running Battlefield 4 at a 142 frame cap. Without the cap on newer games it hits 274 watts. Wasn't expecting to save power using a 6900XT.

They do! People buy these as soon as They go to online! So the prices Are just right or maybe too low... so if manufacturers deside prices based on how we think (and behave)... the prices will go up more. Ofcourse it means that some people Are not able to buy these, but there Are enough who can and that is only thing that matters to companies. Do They sell everything They can produce at $10000 each or $100 each... Do I want more money... Yes please because these succers pay it!
Way more expensive than I will pay and its out of stock anyway. I've owned a lot of Asus and AMD boards and cards including current TUF X299 and ref 5700XT but I think that time has ended.
Yay, more nonsense to debunk. 1. There were no bait and switch, the prices arn't set in stone infact MSRP stands for manufacturer's suggested retail price. 2. There's no such thing as "60%" vaporware, nor is any of the gpu's actully vaporware. As vaporware is defined by never being cancelled or released... 3. Companies don't care about you, or loyalty, they are only after your money. So the fact that you've owned a couple of their products in the past makes no difference.

i think if your video card is going to be 2 or 3 spaces in size they should have an extra PCi-e insert (a blank one ) that plugs to one of the buried PCi-e slots just to help support the card's weight better. sure you might still want a gpu brace , but having it pin into two slots actually would go a long way to help support more weighty cards. and besides you might as well since the card is gonna cover those pci-e slots any way .

to be honest, I don't care if they are reviewing unavailable hardware, I don't watch their content beacuse I want to know waht to buy ( that always depends on prices, and they change from time to time and region to region), but because I want to see which board partner makes what kind of products, hwo good they are and if they meet marketing claims and so on...
Finally bought one of these second hand in Australia for $500 AUD (~$320 USD), appreciate the review guys!
2 years later, i got this card for £365 from ebay.
Just got this for 300, hope I don't get scammed.
100% confirm. Got my since Friday, best card in my life.
Great review! Just picked one up for $599 USD.
I find it genuinely useful to consumers that you mention the shortages and pricing issues in every GPU vid Steve. We shouldn't be letting these questionable tactics with pricing and overpromising about availability go lightly. The sooner we forget about it and stop holding AMD/NVIDIA and vendors to their word the sooner they'll be right back at it the next time.
Also I've been waiting on a review of this card for months and I'm glad you finally got one and tested it -much thanks!
The Radeon RX6800 XT et al currently resides with the unicorns over in la la land.
Elvis and Jimmy Hoffa are building their PCs now.
I've purchased two. Quit bitching and setup a stock alert.
The cards are out there instead of goi g to your prefered retailer online go to google shopping and enter what you want
@@DJ.1001 Buying from retailers right now even if you catch one in stock is a rippoff, most are at least 100 over the retail price, everyone is up for making money out of you over the shortage, just wait for things to settle, it's not life threatening using what you have right now.
@@DJ.1001 you sound like Frank Azor. "Come on guys I got one, all you have to do is hit f5".

Other than that, have a nice day.
Can I just say how much I appreciate you giving the weight in metric. Great review, as ever.
I thought they use GDDR6, Steve. You wrote GDDR6X on the timestamp
Yep. Nvidia uses GDDR6X which is capable of 4 different states (or whatever 4 it was). AMD uses GDDR6 which is traditional video memory and which can have only 2 states (or whatever you call them.).
You are correct sir, this is Asus' language taken from their site. "The ASUS TUF GAMING Radeon™ RX 6800 XT OC edition 16GB GDDR6 is a tenacious implementation of AMD RDNA. It is probably just a typo.
One year later, I have this video card :). Thx for the video!
The paper launch of all GPU's has been a blessing in disguise, great as miners have bought the dud designs. By the time cards are available for gamers the best of every category has been well reviewed.
by the time you can buy them, next gen is out and they land in the bin.
@@tudomerda Thank you, i will edit it.
here me out, what if these cards will never ever be at msrp until the next gen comes out
I think this is somewhat probable
They won't. All indications points to the:
1. MSRP having been set without taking into account premium on shipping due to the global pandemic (which... fair. AMD & Nvidia shouldn't change their products cost to include unprecedented shipping issues, usually not included in price)
2. Nvidia MSRP being set too low due to their chips requiring some premium parts to have the associated cards run well AND with decent temps (that's 100% on them)
3. MSRP set before the tarrif expiration, components shortage & a general unwillingness from AIBs to take on the added cost to make it transparent to customers (which... again... Fair. It's a business)
Supply will improve with time and thus, the issue of scalpers will temporarily solve itself. Mining will still affect us and the shipping industry "global pandemic edition" will normalize itself slowly.
But those MSRP? They aren't relevant anymore. Add 100-200$/€ due to shipping.
This is MSRP now. Thanks leftist ideology!
They won't but it sure is a way of making consumers think they will be getting a relative bargain. Of course you'll never get them at this price
they never will, especially considering how much covid has been mutating recently...
I just bought this card brand new, sealed for $500 CDN. I love it.
It seems the 6800XT isn't on stock everywhere.
But AMD is pushing hard to get out as many GPUs as possible. Thank you AMD for your great efforts for PC Gamers.

The 3080 version of this card was reviewed very well. I was excited for this review, Asus has come back to form for the 6000 series.
Now if only you could actually buy one.
I'm position 554 in the queue and have ordered many months ago.
I have the 3080 Tuf card. I can't praise the quality of the construction enough. It is superb for a "budget" line.

This was also the rumor before the release.

Abhorrent pricing - thanks for the review. If only the community could stick it to the gpu makers.
I imagine game studios would be able to, the scalping has cut into their game sales massively since gamers aren't able to buy the products.

I though Nvidia was bad with bait and switch pricing but this is absurd. 60% over the vapourware reference models is completely unacceptable.

Another great review mate , the availability situation is quite astonishing isn't it , they'll be previews of 4000 series and 7000 series cards before these are readily available , madness !
i think if your video card is going to be 2 or 3 spaces in size they should have an extra PCi-e insert (a blank one ) that plugs to one of the buried PCi-e slots just to help support the card's weight better. sure you might still want a gpu brace , but having it pin into two slots actually would go a long way to help support more weighty cards. and besides you might as well since the card is gonna cover those pci-e slots any way .
