Why do people say this guitar is a fake Chinese replica ?

- This is my original ESP MX 250 (year 2003 I believe) that I use for all the Hetfield parts on my Metallica cover videos and became one of my most special guitars that I own. Maybe I’ll do a in depth review of it. !
Im not just showing off the guitar or anything just sharing a little clip of me practicing rhythim guitar the other day and im sure some of you would enjoy watching (there are many guitars that I’d love to own and there aren’t any videos to check them out unfortunately)

I don’t know or care if that guitar is “fake.” As long as she sounds good, stays in tune long enough to get through a song, doesn’t fall apart, and doesn’t periodically electrocute you, that’s all that really matters. Oh! And it’s also nice when the fret edges don’t cut your fingers.
Id care of the price is not the same... Hahaha

Even with a guitar being fake, you can always make it play really well if you know a thing or two
just build your own. simple. exactly what james did. and if your truly know a thing or two, you’ll customize one that’s perfect for what you do. esketit tone warriors.

he obviously didn’t use his two hands to construct it, however with his millions of streams and dollars, he got someone with the education to build one. here’s some clarity. you’re the not out of the loop you’re the smartest one here.
Well guitars are usually overpriced unless its some crazy model like Framus Stormbender etc. 150$ guitar can sound.great with couple of tweaks and hardware changes. Kirk Hammetts ESP cost like 4500 and it sounds aweful.
@@sotirzvanidjubre4109 don’t worry I understand what you mean, I have a Harley Benton EX-84 and I love the way it plays and sounds came set up great only was around 300$, but how does that KH sound bad? It’s 1200$ not 4.5k$ are you just not a fan of EMG pick ups?

Probably because of how rare and expensive they are bro. I have 2 of them made by RRR custom and I couldn’t be happier. Sadly the ESP ones are becoming more and more unobtainable

It is because you took the truss rod cover off. I have a couple of MX's myself and yes... with the truss rod cover off they look "weird". Plus there are so many fakes out there that when people see anything that looks slightly off, they think it is fake. Great playing dude.
Thanks man I agree. I’ve seen one of your MX’s you’ve posted on social media that is pretty much identical to mine (I believe it also has the completely black ESP logo) ! Hahaha if only some people knew… 😝
@@gallettiguitartones nice man! Yeah my 2 MX's have the gold flake 3D around them and are called MXII-CTM's as I had them spec'd with honduran mahogany, 3 pieces maple necks, rose wood boards, sperzels and 60/81's. I kept them stock as they are all beaten up form gigs. Keep it up dude!

1) Because ESP is no longer making them since 2010 or somewhere around that time due to fear of being sued by Gibson
2) They're incredibly expensive
3) It's hard to prove to these people that it is not unless you show them the receipt, case etc. etc.
4) Dunno why people care so much since 95% of the tone is in electronics and not wood, at least not in metal music
@@DerSilvano I meant the guitar tone, Wood tone is a myth especially when you use high output or active pickups.
@@coldbastard6859 If wood tone is a myth, then I'm not sure why my Eclipse and M-1000 sound completely different, despite having the same pickups (EMG 81/60) and being plugged into the same amp and without changing the settings.
@@nckhed different type of bridge, probably different height between the pickup and the strings, probably also the scale length since a eclipse is usually a 24,75 while a M series is 25.5
@@coldbastard6859 Anybody claiming wood tone isn't a thing hasn't spent remotely enough time training their ear. Moreover anybody claiming different woods don't have tonal properties is wilfully ignorant.

Your failing to understand this, isn't anybody's fault but your own, and furthermore speaks highly as to your own lack of ear training. Moreover, no amount of pretentious condescension toward others will change that.

I have a Chinese wolf to man ESP and with a proper set up, refret, and REAL emg pick ups. It sounds fuckin great.

I have a fake Chinese explorer (cause I don't have $30K to throw away at a guitar) and I got some work done on it by a luthier , I changed the pickups, and it plays better than any of my other guitars. Nothing wrong with a fake explorer. Sure I wish I had a real one like yours, but even if I won the lottery, I couldn't have one anyway cause I'm left handed 😂

I have a cheap copy guitar from the 80's, my black "Sticker V". I bought it with a trade in about $150 total back in highschool around 1990 because it was a black V with a whammy and we had a band already. It still works and plays lots of Metallica and Slayer and stuff 40 years later and I have had ZERO done to it... not even a professional set up in all that time. IT does have a Kahler bridge and Grover tuners though.
Because they're jealous and probably don't realize their epiphones were all made in China too

I believe it's because since Gibson doesn't want ESP to make the same guitars as them, they discontinued making it. And now, in the day, people are trying to look for it, and all they found was a Chinese copy of the guitar.
My fakes play just as good as real ones if not better after electronics and setup. Boom.

one of these is easy to make out of an Epiphone 84 AW. Just repaint the headstock and apply ESP decals, those are for sale on ebay for a few bux. Any luthier can do that for you, for a reasonable amount of money. Also swap the pickups if you wish to a 81/60 or the hetset.
You will have a decent quality guitar which will look exactley like the MX220. Not the 250, that one is trickier.
No it will not look exactly like an MX-220, the headstock shape will be way off even if comparing to the small ESP headstock and the body will be off as well; most noticably in the upper right (assuming the neck is pointing straight to the right hand side) corner which is less extended to the right and the lower right horn which is a lot shorter and more stubby looking. The entire left side edge is also more curved than on an ESP. Also the bridge pickup for god knows what reason seems to be too far from the bridge which in turn seems to be too far from the nut, at least from what I recall from my struggles with adjusting intonation on one of these guitars with the narrow stock bridge.

I think people say it’s fake because of how white it still is. Most white esp mx guitars are yellowed by now.
The muted temolo picking is suuuuper crunchy. Maybe a bit too much. Maybe lower the distortion or change the angle of the pick so its not so diagonal to the string. It may make it harder to flow through the string and you may need to put more effort into it but it will definitely sound better.

I have a real snakebyte and a real schecter e1 frs. They both sound as good as my chinese mx250 copy after refretting it and changing the hardware/pickups. It's not difficult to make a decent ish chinese guitar sound and play like an expensive guitar if you're willing to put in a little money and a lottttttt of effort
It's probably your EQ. They're expecting some hunka-chunka bass grunts out of that thing and experiencing cognitive dissonance because reality ain't like they imagined it.

That one dude - the one who's solely responsible for inflating the market price of all MX guitars into the +$10k range after 2021 - gets the same comments on his videos lol. He has an impressive collection, and people call all of them fake.

It's a beautiful guitar. But besides it being an original, I don't think it matters as long as it's got a good output, tuning stability and quality etc. Hetfields replica 'Kill 'Em All' Flying V is one of the most, if not THE most iconic instrument in Metallicas career

I bought a Chinese fake. Pickups are horrible, nut sucks. Don't buy one You're better off buy an epiphone 84 explorer and sticking an especially logo on it. You'll be able to play it.
Probably because the only guitar that Hetfield used that was similar to this one is the "Papa Het" tattoo kinda one which is not very popular, has a rosewood-looking fretboard with custom inlays and to add to this it is covered with graphics. Also you don't have the truss rod cover which is often missing on new chinese replicas from what I know. The black nut looks kinda off as well. The logo doesn't appear to have that gold glitter outline that seems to be typical.
Who cares? James Hetfield brought a Chibson Flying V because he can't afford a real one

Unpopular opinion: fake mx250s are better than real ones and here's why
1. They are cheaper in price and possible amount in upgrades
2. It's better to get one fake for $300 and modify it than spending $15,000 on a real one just for it to sound not so good.
3. They are best to customize for you can spend $300 and modify the fake to a higher quality which can sell for quite a little more than going broke for a real one
