    Hi Lauren,
Greetings from Mexico. I really liked your video because you discovered how sensitive this song is. Surely you know something about the singer and her authentic struggle for her health. She is a real fighter!

I recommend you her singing with April Darby on liberation day , in Amsterdam . the netherlands in a massive blue lighted environment in the city centers watercanals. The audience partially sitting in boats that are for the ocassion "parked" o n the watersurface , even the dutch royal family is there with the King and his wife and many high ranking officials. The son is entitled " when you believe " (one can at least contribute to achieving a miracle ) and many miracles prayed for , not always come to pass in the way and in the form or the time we mortal human beings have eventually thought out , as suiting us in our minds. Being the essence of what they sing together. Emma though ,appears with friendly and compassionate wisdom as a singing queen, marvellous.

I suggest you now react to Emma singing Dancing on the stars. Andre Rieu released it as an official video. Introduction by him and Emma is nice. The song was written 20 years ago and never released. Composer saw it fit Emma and Andre worked with her on the arrangement. Beautiful.❤️❤️

It is most likely beyond our comprehension to comprehend with our minds and our hearts what it means for her to be obligatory plugged 22hrs a day unto machines that keep you alive. As her stomach does not do anything it normaly and naturally does. Also for her darms and intestines she is connected to a second tube that both are connected to a artificially constructed entrace button mounted in the skin of her belly . By which singing can be troublesome due to the pressure in her abdomen built up with singing , as also the nutrition process becomes many times quite painfull for her. But with little known about this rare and seldom sickness with no current medical care , it falls her many times very hard the pains and lack of understanding of people around her , those with which she she is confronted every day. But she proceeds with her life as she is strijder (fighter). She sings the entire song in Dutch her native language. identical sounding to german , at least for in particular englisch speaking people , but it are two different languages .

"Ik ben = I am, "vechter = fighter" and "strijder = warrior". The lyrics are about herself. That's for sure. The way Emma can draw us (the audience) into the song is really extraordinary. It is a gift she has, I think, and I love that.
And than, just to let you know: On Friday, July 12, her new song "Dancing on the stars" will be officially released, according to Pierre Rieu (son from conductor André Rieu). This is not a cover but a song (in English!) written/composed 20 years ago by Dutch songwriter/composer Tjeerd Oosterhuis. Emma is the first singer performing this song, so it is hers. There are already some amateur recordings on-line because Emma is performing it during the present concerts in Maastricht (the same event where "Voilà" as filmed, but now in 2024), but I think the official video is THE video to watch and share.

    Thank-you for your thoughtful Reaction.
What I find amazing is that you, like most other Reactors/Coaches/etc who don’t speak Dutch or French, follow very well the basic story lines, general trends, emotional build-ups, etc of the songs as performed by Emma. Perhaps it is not all that amazing : we’ve been doing exactly that for decades, even centuries, with Italian, German and French operas; when you have exceptional performers the messages always pass. Bravo Emma, you have truly found your place among the few, really World-class singers of our era.

Emma was fourteen years old in the video. The song is about her wish to be able to "fly away" from her problems and be just like everyone else, if only for a few minutes, so she could truly be free.

    Hello Lauren,
Even though it is one of her Dutch songs...
So no German, which she can speak as a resident of Kerkrade located on the Dutch-German border. Describe what the text is about very well.
She indicates here that she is a fighter and a warrior who has to fight against her illness....
During the performance at Ministars where she won €50,000, she was asked what she was going to do with the money...
She suggested that she start a foundation to research her disease and support others with the same disease...
Even though she would only receive this money when she was 18 years old, it was immediately released so that she opened the foundation a month later.
    Bravo Emma
    Thank you Lauren

    Hello Lauren,
Thanks for your kind reaction on this song from Emma.
This song is one of the two songs she brought out about two years ago.
The second song is "Laat mij een vlinder zijn"(let me be a Buterfly)
Both songs are due to her daily struggles with her illness.
Mentally it is very hard for her not being capable to live the life as everyone else of her age.
She is 16 yeras old now.
In the meantime she is on worldtour with Andre Rieu and his Johann Strauss Orchestra.
Her performances gets everywhere well deserved standing ovations.
In the beginnng of the month of may are in the Netherlands many commemoration and liberation concerts.(WW2)
Emma is a very welcomed guest at these concerts together with the wellknown military orchestra KMKWJF.
She did perform the songs "Hero"and "Father"
Also the Liberation Concert on the Amstel on the 5th of may she performed an amazing liveduet with April Darby ("When you believe")
in front of the king and queen and many other high spectators.
All mentioned events are to find on RUclips. RUclips does not like links.
You have to do some homework, but it is strongly recommended.
She is a very strong girl and an amazing singer which you have already noticed.
    Keep up the good work

The sad one is her lying in the hospital bed unconscious. Brings tears to my eyes. She is a warrior and fighter as her song states. Many videos out there and new ones from last week. Something that doesn't seem to translate well is that she is using 2 different words vechter en strijder. Both seem to be translated to fighter, while I think it would be better to translate them to fighter and warrior. It's in Dutch by the way, but I think you already got that from other comments. Just noticed that you made the same translation, associated with the leather jacket.

A second comment, linguistic and literary in this case. Tolkein, an expert in germanic and celtic languages, named one of his “Lord of the Rings” heroes, a exiled WARRIOR king who spent his life STRIDING through the badlands, STRIDER ?

    • @bsirta5824
      @bsirta5824 4 месяца назад +1

Actually, the original Proto-Germanic root was stridanan (to strive). It become striden in Middle English "to straddle, mount" (a horse).
The sense of "stride" as "walk with long or extended steps" in English is from circa 1200, usually implying haste.
However, in German, Dutch, Swedish, Danish, the root evolves in a different way, and will mean "fight".
To conclude, in Elvish quenya, "strider"' can be translated as "telcontar", which will be the name of Elessar’s lineage after he become king of Gondor. Of course, it was again the fault of foolish Meriadoc Brandybuck, speaking to Aragorn when the latter entered for the first time the citadel of Minas Tirith :
"Strider! How splendid! Do you know, I guessed it was you in the black ships. But they were all shouting corsairs and wouldn't listen to me. How did you do it?'
But Imrahil said to Eomer: 'Is it thus that we speak to our kings? Yet maybe he will wear his crown in some other name!'
And Aragorn hearing him, turned and said: 'Verily, for in the high tongue of old I am Elessar, the Elfstone, and Envinyatar, the Renewer': and he lifted from his breast the green stone that lay there. 'But Strider shall be the name of my house, if that be ever established. In the high tongue it will not sound so ill, and Telcontar I will be and all the heirs of my body.'
