  • Meet Elvy Musikka, a pioneering figure in the world of medical marijuana. As one of only two people still receiving medical marijuana directly from the U.S. federal government, Elvy's story is as unique as it is compelling. She has been part of the federal medical marijuana program for 27 years. As a child of the fifties, Elvy's journey with cannabis was unexpected; it was a doctor's advice in 1975 that ignited her path, warning that without marijuana, she would lose her sight. Explore her remarkable journey through the evolving landscape of cannabis legalization.

    Very nice video. Elvy, and a few other people, were on "The Hemp Tour", teaching and giving out information on Cannabis, setting up near the door of the club, etc.
    Somehow, they ended up at the club, downstairs from our Party house, where we'd get to play gigs pretty often. They were spreading the word on Cannabis, but not making any real money, and figuring out where to stay that night, that was cheap.
    We had a pretty big space upstairs, and asked if they wanted to stay with us. They accepted, right away. I'll never forget Elvy and her "cookie tin" container (not as tall), with a Federal prescription on it. Filled with joints, like above, but she said they "weren't worth smoking", but she could make edibles with them.
    Luckily, we were all working, and always had something decent to smoke. It was in 1990, I believe, and no one wanted to carry "on Tour", but many people, especially musicians, smoke, so we had some great times meeting acts on Tour.
    I'll always remember that night, smoking with Elvy and discussing Cannabis, as well her case. A Federal program we had never heard of, and she was one of the first approved patients!
    She was absolutely delightful to hang out with. Much thanks for the great video!👍💯🙏✌️

    My great grandmother was offered federal prescription in the 1950s for glaucoma but opted against it. It’s amazing that they were still allowing it as medicine during early prohibition. It’s almost like they knew it was a medicine or something 🤔

      back then they didnt know how to isolate the healing terpenes and cannabinoids from the thc or how any of it worked in the first place, you had no choice but to get high if you wanted to medicate with cannabis back then.

But to arrest a patient for choosing the creators work that's called blaspheme blaspheme blaspheme, may the true spirit of love always be your guiding light, ill take this as i always do in the name of Thanksgiving." wise words thank you Elvy in the name of Thanksgiving, cheers.

      thats like saying a diabetic is addicted to insulin or a fish is addicted to water. all you see is the battle fought on the outside you don't see endorphin imbalances or mental problems its used for hell i think you don't fully understand the pain and disability of cataracts and glaucoma. addiction implies a negative connotation, were talking about a plant that grows for free, is it fair for people whose body's naturally produce a low amount of anandamide, Vets with bipolar and PTSD, people with glaucoma, arthritis, ibs, even cancer patients to be branded "addicts" because their body doesn't work? addicts are disabled by their perceived needs, most cannabis users are just looking for medicine so they can function comfortably. it seems like she was dealt an unrighteous hand and the only plant that had a semblance of saving her vision was demonized. leave the term addiction for people who need to be dragged out of casinos or wake up in ditches.

    • @shawnndixon5254
      @shawnndixon5254 2 месяца назад +1

      you would assume "addiction" imposes a negative connotation. I never knew addicts could be happy, non compulsive, and have sustained finances.
