How many racing games I've seen
shift 2 is still the one I prefer in matter of brutal sound engines forza horizon 5 that's tremendous
and damage models.
This game is the best, not even forza, the crew, GT, etc... could recreate such a realistic sensation of driving as this game does. I pray everyday for Shift 3.

Sadly I don't think we will get that game at all even under the Need for speed name. Slightly mad studios have gone completely mad studios.
I don't think they will release a Shift 3 nowadays since we just got GT7 and there is Forza 8 coming but in 2025 it wouldn't be a too crazy idea.

Yeah or take this engine mix it with tuning from pro street where u can make your spoilers and bumper holes wider etc for air flow etc , give it a japan open world map and slap underground 3 on it

Two reason... It puts "need for speed" in a GTracing game and god awful twitchy handling which results the drifting challenge is equivalent to dark soul difficulty

Playing Unleashed now. I can tell why.
Sure, it's a great game and I'm having fun for the most part. The handling model and physics are...debatable:
The customization and car pool this game has is pretty generous, but the handling feels way to twitchy (not in a realistic way), sometimes it understeers, sometimes it skids (playing with some assists, can recall which) and you lose speed.
It's harder than other NFS titles because it's not that much of an arcade game, and I can see why it pissed off loyal NFS fans in the late 2000s when racing games were starting to depart from street races and going towards a TOCA/GRID-esque style. It's like if McDonalds stopped making burgers and offered you pasta instead.
The controls are delayed as hell (there's a few guides on steam that help reducing that until it's mostly playable), the graphics look alright (a bit too exaggerated at times), and the sound is choppy (could my game tho). The setting and athmosphere is enjoyable and a bit more elaborated than other games of the genre.
Overall, it's an alright game, fun, feels like a Project Cars' version of Pro Street (probably bc Shift and PC are made by the same guys).
Play it if you have a controller (I play most NFS games and Grid w/keyboard), you're playing every NFS game that's enjoyable or you want more games that have the GRID aesthetic.
Heard there's a physics mod that greatly improves the game but:
A. For some people "improved" means completely killing off the personality of a game.
B. I first wanted to play the game the way it was released, so I can tell if the game is good by itself or needs mods to be good/fixed.
TL;DR: it's like Heat in the way that it's got good aesthetic, questionable handling and physics model, but ends up being an overall cool game.
It's the best NFS game, and the racing game I've played the most since the early Gran Turismo games.

This game is really a hidden gem and I prefer it over games like Hot Pursuit 2010 and Most Wanted 2012

The only NFS that makes me scared to go fast, had a really hard time when i played it for the first time but as time goes by, i turned off all assist and driving with a manual shifting.
this game looked great back in the day and still holds up
Facts
Both Shift games are my favourite in the series. I prefer the second one and i think it's the best game in subgenre of track based simcades that put emphasis on dynamic races. GRiD was awesome and clearly they took much inspiration from it, but Shift 2 is just the goat.

It's not hard you just have to get the feel for it
Don't push gas too much which is unfortunately impossible on keyboard
You also need to have experience before hitting the track
Know every car limits and every corner and then it just gets easy

5:27 I played this game with a keyboard and it was impossible to drift. Maybe you have some kind of a drift assist enabled in the settings. In real life an RWD drifting requires a subtle balance of steering and throttling which is hard to achieve on a keyboard.
Yeah with keyboard is really hard. I was using a controller and it’s much easier.

+Gladiator remixes, dark ambience, real car sounds-sound efects, diffucult at the beginning but extremely fun simcade handling, cockpit view.
-Worst AI I've ever seen in a racing game. Obviously EA didn't give them time to finish it.

THIS GAME IS MOST DEFINITELY NOT THE STANDARD NFS DRIVING PHYSICS...WHICH IS SOOOO DOPE! THE TUNING I AM HIGHLY IMPRESSED CONSIDERING MOST NFS GAMES IS JUST GRAB A CAR THAN GO. BUT THIS NFS GIVES ME "IF GRAN TURISMO AND FORZA MOTORSPORT HAD A BABY" VIBES...BEST WAY I CAN DESCRIBE IT. NOT PERFECT BUT SOMEHOW PERFECT 11/10 🎉

NFS Shift 1 and 2 need a remaster or a remake without lose physics, gameplay etc.
ea killed it, thus made a strong sim racing competitor by its own hand. Remastering it would be last thing ea would consider😂

Its been 13 years since NFS SHIFT 2 UNLEASHED and its still AMAZING GAME! Way better than FORZA MOTORSPORT 2023! The damage model is also way more impressive than in GRAN TURISMO 7 and Forza Motorsport 2023!
Yup i was scared of the sound and crash in 1 custcene,and i bump on every wall that i met(i was 3 yr Old lol)
And i remember thatgame,in replays,get slow down
And in replay mod,the music rlly kicks in(à lot more on pilot view
it was so different from the other nfs games which made it hard to play at first ;)

It's the best racing game so far, at least for me.
This game and games like dirt and grid or even the original San Andreas, are my biggest references as to why games now a days look worse. The new games are too clean focusing on textures and draw distance and high res. Games now are losing the charm and details that the older games had in favour of pure texture res. I hate it.

Idk... I have a ps3 but uhh nfs shift 2 runs great on it despite the ps3(slim) being 14 years old(yes my dad owned it for this long)
