  • Following my last repairs to a weak point in the outer cockpit rim of my F1 skin-on-frame (SOF) kayak, one side of the rim began to spring away after a trip. Here's how I went about repairing and reinforcing it, plus a few tips on the way. If this doesn't hold up well enough then I plan to reinforce the entire rim by drilling and lacing it in place using the artificial sinew I bought for the build; if that transpires then I'll post a video of the process.

The abrasive sheets I show in this are made by JCB and I can recommend them for durability and ease of cleaning. You may be able to get them from your local hardware store but here's an Amazon link in case you can't find them: amzn.to/455Xtux (please note that as an Amazon Affiliate program member I may get a small commission from qualifying purchases, this helps support my channel but does not affect the price you pay on these products).
