Someone is selling a used D lux 5 for 230 in 2019 do you think it's still worth playing around with Focus accurate I don't really care after a little slow I still get great stuff from. Rx 100 and other compacts
So I haven't watched the video yet but my first question right off the bat is how is this not an not an fz1000 just by the specs alone except to get 4k on the fz I do have a feeling it's the same sensor
Hi there could you recommend this camera for V logging what is the camera you are using to film the actual video with would you be able to let me know love your videos are awesome and very informative
Thanks for the video! Makes me want to buy it. But: Consider about if the music in the background is really necessary. The idea behind it is probably to get it modern and to catch the young viewers. I have to say: No music. It is really anoying. No music. At least: much lower.
I had the Panasonic Lumix version of this and have just bought the V lux 5 Leica......its a different world in quality , everything packed up on the Panasonic ...and to be fair it gave great results ...until it packed up .
I haven't had a 35mm in my hand for the past 40 years- I'm now writing a cookbook and living in the Caribbean - looking for a very good camera that I can use for both studio shots of my good and travel that won't break my retirement. This looks to be a very good choice.😎🤙
Thanks for the review! Idk what camera you’re using to shoot the whole review and how much it was color graded afterwards, but my god colors from Leica are miles better, it’s like day and night difference. Would really like to see more test pictures, indoor, low light, skintones, how far it zooms, how max zoom affects image quality, this kind of stuff.
The colors aren't that different from the fz1000 you have so many capabilities in that camera to change coloring saturation even the highlight and Shadow Curve
Great video, I appreciate this review. I'm currently deciding between this camera, the Lumix LX100 ii and the Leica D-Lux 7. I'm leaning towards the LX100 ii because I think it better suits my needs (mainly it's compactness), but after seeing this review, I'm starting to like the V-Lux 5/FZ1000 ii.
I have both the FZ1000 and LX100. Both Mark I models. If compactness is a need, the LX100 is quite good. However, it isn't pocketable - unless using a large jacket pocket. However, its weight and form factor make it very manageable. I'll use it with a wrist strap or sometimes without. It is a camera that is very hands on, and once familiar with it, you'll be adjusting its settings almost instinctively. The sensor will fair better than the FZ1000 in low light by a couple stops. The lens is versatile, and great for everything from street photography, macro to portraits. Video is excellent quality, even though it crops at 4k. The Panasonic menu system is very good, and you can tailor a number of buttons to your shooting style. It is this camera that really helped me get into photography more creatively, as it is so hands-on, it encourages experimentation. With the m4/3 size sensor, it will be easier to obtain a more shallow depth of field at shorter ranges than the FZ1000 1-inch sensor. With the FZ1000, you can get very bokeh, but you'll have to put some distance between yourself, the subject and the background. The FZ1000 is a lot of camera for the price. The lens quality is superb and the 1-inch sensor fairs very well in good lighting conditions. It is more versatile than the LX100, and when using it, you feel like you can handle almost any type of shot. Previously, I had both the FZ200 and FZ300. Both very good, but they had even smaller sensors that could get quite noisy. I prefer the 1-inch sensor on the FZ1000, as it has a bit of Dynamic Range that you can use to recover shadows or adjust highlights in raw or via the cameras internal JPEG processing. The reach on the FZ1000 is of course much better than the LX100. Video quality is great and allows for external mic input So they both have trade-offs. They actually make great companions, and with both I feel like they cover any photographic needs.
@@malfunkt thanks for that. I think I might just go with the FZ1000. I just wish it was Splashproof / Dustproof like the FZ300. Other than that, I think its a great camera.
Artistic Images I don’t think so. They did a minor upgrade to the FZ1000 mkii recently and the FZ300 is fantastic as well. I just moved to a Fujifilm X-E3 as I wanted some of what a larger sensor could bring. And yes there are some advantages. But you lose the flexibility and compactness of the FZ zooms. Also, with experience, you can coax excellent images out of the FZ 300/1000. I might recommend just sticking with the FZ300 to cover daily shooting and telephoto and consider buying an older larger sensor compact to cover indoor shooting. Or get the fz1000. The inch sensor is better especially in raw. But you lose some range. There aren’t really any bad choices here, just different tools.
The colours are great!! And the video is sharp. The camera eventually focused on your face perfectly! I love that you don’t have to buy more lenses.. in tired of spending thousands on lenses. My next Leica will the the Q2!
Thanks for the review. Would like to see a little review/comparison between those 1" sensor Bridge/Superzoom cameras: RX10 M4 Powershot G3X FZ1000 M2 / V-Lux 5 FX2500/2000 Thanks.
Thanks for the tutorial. I just got this camera and I love it. Must have turned off the touch screen, how do I turn it back on. Thanks in advance. Catherine
I tried the Panasonic version briefly - the video was annoyingly "jerky" and was told that that was 'normal'. Did you find that the case with this camera also? (the selfie video appeared to have the problem...)
Could please let me know whether it is manufactured in Germany. I own a Leica M 5 which I had to stop using it as the availability of Film Rolls was very poor. Thank you.
Hey Mate!! I agree IT’S a LEICA!! I love it!! I have the VLux ( typ 114) it’s really much the same! Got it on eBay as new perfect for $1000 AUD! Is there much difference between the VLux 5?
Great review - quick Q if I may: my touchscreen suddenly stopped working a couple days ago on my V-Lux 5. I can't use it as a viewfinder at all. I updated firmware, reset the battery, powered on and off...I have no idea how to get it back on. Any thoughts?
Can you use this camera for web streaming / webcam ? Does it need anything else software/card to webcam ? I have Panasonic & bridge leicas & love the Leica lens on both Agree Re the red dot, when I’ve been able to get a good price on a Leica version, I do. & Great video thanks
Definitely the leica in my eyes. Leica provides much better service should something happen to the camera. I have only had good experiences and the cameras are great. But of course it's up to you, just wanted to give my opinion.
n increace ISO and one or two MINOR so called improvments.Stil 20mp,still 1ch sensor. In Australia at the moment(sept 2020) it costs a bit under$2000,if you can get it at a reasonable cost, and not at at a LEICA STORE,get it.I;ve always used my type114 for street photography a few minor problems, i suspect the V-LUX 5 would be the same.
Very Nice Review. Can you tell me because at B & H photo it does not say if it shoots 24PM or 23.98. It just says 25P. I notice some cameras really shoot just 25P which would not work for me. Please let me know if you know. Tom
I like this guy. Funny dude, reminds me of a friend... but yeah, thanks for the info, nice video. Best regards from germany ;) Because... it's a Leica.
Constructive criticism; Your music was too distracting as were your excessive hand movements. Oh, btw, you didn't say if the camera is weather proof or weather resistant. Otherwise, a nice review.
Hi, just got the v-lux5 today. it is very noisy wenn it is on. is that normal? sounds like a bumblebee the hole time. .... no, not a bumblebbe, it's coffee mill! very annoying.

@@marisareyes8107 I wanted to like the Leica, but the Lumix FZ2500 is a much better camera. The V Lux feels cheap with it's plastic body

Very clear and interesting. Thank you for creating and sharing.
The audio in perfect on that camera

Hi! Vs the fz2500 which one is best? Tks
Thanks for this review , now do you have a tutorial on getting started ? Thank you
Thanks for the review, informative enough to decide to purchase this camera.
Great stuff, thanks for the heads up
You can buy mine for a very good price...I have tried for 5 months, but absolutely DO NOT like it.
Great review! But I need to know how to set it up - I’m an absolute beginner 🤯

Agreed. I'll see if Luke's still got the camera and if he has time to do some more sample shots, a possible part two to this video. Watch this space!

How do you set silent mode for taking pictures of birds etc? Please thanks

You need to change the settings If It's jerky specifically on that camera from the defaults and then it's way better
Please let me know how I could obtain a HDMI connecting cable to connect from Camera "LEICA V - LUX 5 " to my Computer or Tab.
Would the Billingham Hadley small pro be a good bag for this? Thank you.
Who doesn’t like a Leica? 😁
If I can get the same camera with the name Panasonic Lumix instead of Leica I do not like this Leica lol
Not really leica

Depends what street you're on depends on who's noticing the red. Dot

Didn't notice hand movements.

Does this camera do monochrome???
Yes
Is the lens fixed? Or you it can cater interchangeable lens?

Yes
If V-Lux 5 and the Lumix DC-FZ1000 II are almost the same, why pay double the price to get a Leica?
It's a higher price because the leica has the red badge on it
If you count every dime, no, it isn't worth it.
Leica still survives means there are more sentimental reasons among us than we think.
