Little Things (Grace VanderWaal tooling around to create a song)

In May of 2020, Grace grabs her guitar, gets on Instagram and starts strumming and grabbing at ideas to (maybe) create a song called Little Things, but it more turns into a sort-of funny gab-fest and reflection on the way of the world, of adults not being adults, on schooling and more. Still interesting to listen to her grasp at straws and try to find that perfect spark.

Of course, this represents the Grace of 4 years ago, her total outlook may have changed as to music, way of the world, adults etc. This is a look into her mind at 16, wonder if the now adult twenty something Grace looks with humor at her social media.

I'm not sure what to think when It comes to Grace. Love her music. Either she has had bad management, or she just made bad choices. I think she will end up in the history book of what could have been. 😢

I'm not ready to call the ball on her quite yet, but the situation is concerning.
I wish she was less distracted with clothes and makeup and acting.
I'm sure she's great at the latter, but there are scores of pretty little starlets in the film world but only one musical talent like Grace Vanderwaal.
People say she has plenty of time, and maybe she does, but many great song writers like Paul Simon were hitting their stride when they were only a year or two older than she is right now.
I get the feeling that she makes the perfect the enemy of the good as far as her own work goes.
I just hope she breaks out of whatever is holding her back for music's sake.

​@@aristoklessmith5867I don't think she's "distracted." She seems to be right where she wants to be. Back in November, she seemed quite excited about a music project that she's working on that she said she plans to tour with once she finishes it in 2024. She also made music for "Megalopolis," so no matter what she's doing, she's still incorporating her passion for music.

I'm pleased at how tenacious she is. She has something in her mind.....just out of reach..... and she just keeps digging and digging and digging. It proves just how focussed Grace can be when she needs to be. ALL of the truly great musicians I've been around had that ability to dig and dig and dig until they found what they were looking for. This video confirms what I always suspected about Grace. Get her away from music and she's hilarious, frivolous...... but get her with a musical idea in her head and she's locked on like a pit bull.

Hi Dax. May I offer some additional info. This session took place when the hammer dropped on the world for Covid. I can't imagine how it effected these children, with the closing of schools, mask, distancing, quarantines, and every other change in the daily lives of these children. These song writing sessions were not only for Grace, but also for her fans to help get through the days and weeks and months of the Covid pandemic. Also, in another part of the original post in which she sung and wrote several more songs, she said that this was how songs were created in studio writing sessions. A legitimate peek into her writing process.
