The reason why artists don't pay producers. Over the years a lot of producers complain about artists not paying for beats. Here's my theory of why artists don't like to pay for music.

This is a sickness, and I'll tell you why:
You will NEVER see a video titled "Why grocery store owners don't want to pay for produce" or "Why lawyers don't want to go to law school" or "Why contractors don't want to pay construction labor." Why? All small business owners in other career fields KNOW they have to invest in themselves, believe in themselves and take risks. It's not even a question.
This shows us that even the people who make music don't take their own careers seriously enough. And that's a sickness.
Let's be real-- with these low cost beats and buy 1 get 1 free deals, an artist's production budget for a 10 song album can end up around ((34.99 x 10)/2) = 179.95
That's NOTHING in terms of investment.

DJ Pain 1 Man, this is so true! There’s never an issue when it comes to investment in other fields. It’s simply a part of doing business. It’s expected!

It's a different industry though. A construction owner knows they are getting paid, how much they are getting paid, and how much they can budget to pay their employees per job. Yet for music it's backwards. They spend first then hope they make it back. A lawyer knows he'll make X amount of money on a job. A musician is just hoping to make that money back. They have no idea what the return is, and most of their music won't make any return. This is how the music industry has always been so shady. The industry knows this, that's why they pay you upfront to take all those rights to your music, they know theirs only gonna be a few good hits you make in your career that'll hopefully make a ton of money. But they'll give you a small chunk now upfront to get that dough later. Music is a gamble. That's why people don't want to pay. Musicians are better off paying percentages of royalties to producers. But it seems only big name artists have that luxury.

@@Dance1617 poor premise. that construction company owner may magically start off fully booked, but as jobs end if they don't sell their services, there is no booking fairy that appears and fills their calendars. layoffs aren't just an excuse to keep all the money. When a company loses good workers because they can't afford to pay, it hurts like selling off your keyboards. law school hopefuls don't know they will pass the bar, and not all lawyers get to star in tv shows. some are drudge working 9-5 people who may even regret their expensive choice of occupation. same everywhere.

It's 💯 facts.. the artist has to believe in themselves and take that risk and invest in themselves.
A producer spends money upfront to buy the gear to produce the music the artist gets to sing/rap on..
These days you could lease a beat for 25.00. Theres alot of artist that won't even want to spend that on their careers but will buy weed on a weekly to daily basis.
Honestly I think the artist that doesn't want to invest in themselves and will only rock with the free beats they can steal/download from RUclips or other free sources just lack the grind mentality to really make things happen for themselves.
Think about the end goal for most of these artist is to make a million win that Grammy and be the next dude to smash amber rose but expect all that to happen but can't lease a 25.00 beat so they can legally put material out there to start a buzz and monetize their art.
Don't let the fear of failure dictate your future. Take charge of your destiny and put in the hard work and stop taking this career so lightly.. thats the only way to really win.. you gotta be willing to spend/invest your time and even a little money to get things going in the right direction for you to blow up.

The simple answer is, those artist don't understand business......When an artist goes to a great studio, theres no excuses with paying them the money for the studio time, so its the same when a producer is giving there serves and they charge you ,so if this was a well known producer , they can't come at them with crap, so with an unknown they should get the same respect as long as those producers stand behind there business.

Another point is Offer VS Demand. Nowadays, the production landscape is very competitive (saturated on the lower echelons) and prices are often extremely low. There’s no incentive for artists to pay the big bucks for exclusives. Unless you differentiate yourself with original music, a great content strategy and ultimately, a stronger brand.

Great points and many artist don't trust their own brand! They know they really don't have the work ethic that it takes to be a SUCCESSFUL artist so they hope they can "luck up" then they will start to pay! GOOH!

Thats why leasing exists they can get low cost production then when they make money buy exclusive there are options people are just too lazy to learn how to make it work

What about producers who want to change your vision? Adding a whole bunch of crap the musicians don't want in they're original songs?

    • @MikeRP3147
      @MikeRP3147 Год назад

They just need to find another producer.
