Seeing that vintage footage remastered, makes you wonder what else they've got hidden away in the archives
Chris J probably other races from the past?
Arlind Sadiku just get F1 TV and you can watch full races from the past years
I have all GP's from 1970 upwards and I enjoy watching the classic races
@@davyheijlands1956 post them all on a public drive
@@davyheijlands1956 where??
Modern Hockemheim is a not bad track. Old one was awesome.
The old layout is a legendary circuit.
@@MaxMarinho41 It is. I understand why they changed the layout but I really think that they shouldn't have demolished the old section of the track.
@@KristiansKazmers Agree, they should keep the old layout rather than demolished it.
@@wildannandawicaksana5004 but then people would’ve been breaking in and probably been racing along it
Satana, leave this body
Us "circle burners" in the states mostly all loved "old Hockenheim" because in many ways it was a clockwise oval, with a few chicanes mixed in with it which gave it that thrill of seeing what both body and machine had to offer. That once a year test of seeing who built biggest beast underneath and who could survive 300km around Germany's speed palace.
Nurburgring challenges the mind, and automobile suspension, as well as handling.
Old Hockenheim challenged the engine builders, and the men who had the courage to lap the place at 200+ MPH.
I give the Germans credit, they know how to build circuits...
And yes Herman... A lot of us are still mad you neutered the forrest section.
After Hockenheim gives us one of the best race in decade then someone head be like, “Hey, now let’s remove it from our calendar”
Yeah, I love it and its a great track but Jeddah is gonna be better.

now we have turn 16😂
Fun fact: Turn 16 has existed Since 1970.
Jimmy where
@@justinf.3293 Well, The last turn before Start/Finish Line.
The old Hockenheimring layout and Nurburgring Sudschliefe (South Loop) could add so much to the F1 calendar.
At least one of the two. The germans have so much history in F1 it's a shame no german race is on the calendar!!
2:02 When Piquet is fast and *FURIOUS* with Salazar....
I want to see this track back in F1 again so bad
"where really anything was possible" - well after today's race I can say that statement still holds true!
The turn 12 at 2:54 is an entirely new corner complex, the turn shown at 2:58 is the one behind that - which still exists!
It seems to be very common nowadays to diss every track, diss the cars, drivers etc. I started watching F1 when i was 4 years old with my father, ive watched Häkkinen win the titles, ive seen the disappointments of Räikkönens years on McLaren, his 1st title on Ferrari, great years in Lotus, worse years on Ferrari. All the changes over the years and yet im a fan of F1. I can appreciate the technology going in the cars and how safety affects F1 quite abit. You have to understand, even if you pick a dangerous hobby/job in life, you still dont wanna die doing it, when you have families, wives, children waiting for a guy to come home. I think they are starting to make better moves to make F1 greater again, which is good for us fans.
its common to diss everything in f1 because it is so crap now. you grew up watching mika win titles? sorry but you missed out. it was half crap by the time you came along. now its just fully crap .
Pretty weird that you still follow F1 if its been shit over 20 years now. What ever floats your boat, i guess.
now now i said it was half shit 20 years ago ...... even when half shit it was worthwhile because half of the greatest thing on the planet ever was still not bad . just no where near the awesomeness . it rapidly declined in the last 5 to the bottom of the shit barrel though and its a struggle to watch an entire season now , half the races just blend into a blur of mediocrity and boredom
I tended to have a very high esteem of the mid 90's seasons because I grew up with those, but I recently rewatched them and I was terribly dissapointed with how bad they were compared as to how I remembered them. People just like to get on the Nostalgia trend even though the past could very much be worse than the present, which personally, it was, the old Hockenhemring was ok at best, Magny Cours was crap and personally, the only good thing about the early 2000's was the engines, the rest was just ok, that's why I stopped watching in 2004, I lost interest, I retook it on 2012 and now I love F1 more than ever.
Their paranoia with safety has become ridiculous lately. Just because there is 0.001% chance for something to happen, so many restrictions are introduced that hold the sport back. At the current state, me racing on my phone in my bed is probably more dangerous than them driving. My house is quite old and the roof may collapse on me, who knows...
Anyways, after 10 years of not caring about F1, this years Silverstone was the first race I watched fully again, and it was exciting, so I am back! I will ignore the worst sound in motorsport (even Formula E sound better now) and all the other bs and just focus on the racing which is still fun and quite close at times.
Massive comments of "Old Hockenheim is the best" incoming.....................................
Old Hockenheim is the Best!
At least it was different and had some unique character.
@@MacGovernor long straight chicane etc...
Because... It was.
Because it was. It was a unique circuit. The new one isn’t bad by Tilke standards, but it’s just that, yet another Tilkedrome.
To be honest: yes, the old one was absolutely bonkers. However the new one is still better than almost every Tilkedrome - so enjoy todays race :D
I find the new one to be more interesting to drive on. The old one is actually a straight line with 3 chicanes. It's still really nice though.
if current cars raced on the old circuit, guess what? top 6 cars will lap all other car in about 5 laps.... last year's mclaren honda will have engine failure before it got lapped
fuzzfizz eehm the Problem is that the Old circuit doesnt exist anymore sadly you can only See the Track On Google Maps, cause the trees are Not as high as the others😭
I Love the Track cause im from Germany
Horst Horsti what problem? not a problem for me. i like the new layout. it is good they changed the layout.
The destruction of the old layout was a tragedy.
that says a lot more about the current state of f1 and its regulations than it does the track
Today's faster cars need the old circuit actually.
2000 German GP was one of the most emotional races I have ever seen. The first win of Rubens Barrichello.
Rip ... Jim Clark you will be missed
Senna's rear wing mounting broke in 1984. That had to be terrifying given that this was at probably close to 200 mph!
Excellent short clip about Hockenheim history! Well done Liberty Media!
R.I.P. Patrick Depailler you will always be remembered.

Absolutely loved this video, more like this please!
This video was truly awesome. Hope for more like this.
Great video. Good explications
Intro sounds like YMCA.
yeah
WaterxDragon Every time I think of YMCA I always think of the scene in the office where Dwight slapped Michael at his expresso-disco party which completely changed his mood: "gawh! What the hell Dwight!? ... It wasn't even the 'Y'.." as he mosies on out of scene lol

Doesn't it sound like Soul bossa nova quincy jones more?
Back at again bucky!! 👍👍
I enjoy watching buxton on these videos. Miss his commentary in the pits at race day.
I miss the old hockenheim. Bring it back
If the old hockenheim still exist today it will have the longest drs zone in the calendar
The old layout was epic however I do like the newer track very much. Always lots of action and good racing
R.i.P. Old Hockenheim!!
Awesome !
(As always)
Wow, amazing that the old circuit was so different!
Sweet video.. Gets me into the racing fever mode..
Will Buxton is just absolutely brilliant! Love listening to him speak.
no he is not because he made several mistakes and he forgot to talk about the original hockenheim layout
Will Buxton I love you
Lennart G. Don’t we all?
Nitin Bharadwaj Yes we do
Its looking pretty ok here, rained a bit yesterday. Im 20 miles away though
felix crab from Hockinem? Will it rain for any of the race do u know? 🙏
Lewis 41 its cloudy and humid but i dont think so.
0:58 Wrong, the straight after the last chicane out of the forest went on to the stadium section, so there is a white line missing.
2:56 That corner didn't exist back then, 3:01 is the entry to the stadium. Poorly researched...
Actually, it's not poorly researched, the problem are just the graphics. If you listen you'll notice he says "Turn 12" which is the correct turn but for some reason the footage is showing Turn 7(which didn't exist).
He means that the old Turn 12 was the entry to the stadium section, actually it was turn 12 back then, he just said what turn 12 is now. like the old turn 12 has nothing to do with todays turn 12.
@@Triedient Turn 12 is the entry to the stadium section today. It's literally the same turn.
Increible, encima el canal oficial de la formula 1 mintiendo asi...

I hope i'm not the only one that loves the new hockenheimring!
Aghilesh Arasu no I do too. Even though it's also designed by Tilke, it's quite unique in the calender
Aghilesh Arasu I like it too :)
You're not, it is really nice
I was always enjoying, watching DTM or Porsche Cup races there!

No mentions of Schumacher whatsoever. A living F1 legends home soil and he won most times in here. But not a single word about him
Nanderlizer Nanderlizer he's well now. Todt and him watched the Brazilian GP together
@@CL-fg5ne
Yes they did, but he is not 'well'. If he was 'well' we would have more information about his condition.
Pilots from 42 different countries, constructors from 18 different countries and F1 has been in circuits from more than 30 different countries, but Liberty Media videos are only in English, do not even have subtitles for their huge worldwide audience
I love the old circuit but the new one is very good too, just two very distinct styles.
They should have kept the old circuit!
Ruud Severens well as said in the video, lots of crashes and 2 deaths
Harry's Tech Reviews because it was old security regulations, if they re-do it, it will be like Monza, and tbh Spa saw more fatalities of than the entire racetracks on the calender, even the shortened layout
The old circuit was removed as they were forced to replant trees in the area following the massive deforestation to make the new circuit - which was built to satisfy new safety standards and also to make a better spectator venue (because being able to only see the cars once every two minutes is a great idea, right?).
I would love nothing more than to see the old track restored and the heritage to remain. It was special, but it had to go.
there hasn't been an f1 death here since 1980 and the cars are exponentially safer than even the mid 90s . unfortunately track and venue changes to the modern schedule had as much if not more to do with money and politics than safety
who died in f1 at hockenheim in 1994?

Spin Now: 5 LAPS SAFETY CAR

Good vídeo excelente☺
The scene that F1 cars run through in forest was very attractive and characteristic individuality of Hockenheim.
The loss of spectacle of one and only is still very unfortunate.
lovely Curcuit 👍🏻
The old Hockenhiem was deemed to be bad fast. Long straightaways, 3 chicanes, that's super fast, but dangerous. Since 2002, they changed it to a new layout of what we as fans see today. I like this circuit, and a fast one, but safety is the #1 priority in racing. 🏁🙂❤
The music sounds exciting. Name?
Darude sandstorm
the old hockenheim layout was the best
I like the new circuit a lot, I also like the look of the old one (never actually seen a race on it) but I feel like it should have stayed there as a historical thing, much like what's left of brooklands
I ❤️ you Formula 1.
The old circuit was the greatest race track of all time and it always will be the greatest track of all time
Nordschleife is the greatest track of all time. This track was a politically correct dull substitute for the Nordschleife when they decided it was too dangerous.
I love old hockenheim
2:04 Soco "Lango--Lango" kkkkk
He missed a perfect ballkick.
Man... I wished that they maintained the old circuit config. Even if its just from a historical point of view like the Nurburgring or even the old Monza banking
Well done.
Hope we get 2020 again to celebrate 50 years
For the ones saying that old layout was not technical, I say no.
Adjusting your braking and going through the chicanes is very technical. If it was just flat out and not technical how are we going to explain the fact that, specially throughout 90s, there was a group of drivers always doing well over there and a group of drivers always performing average to bad. You can not see/observe such a clear cut on the others so called technical circuits.
Old one is untouchable
Bring the old track back!
old hockenheim pls come bacc
My favority circuit ❤
I'm a simple man, i see an official F1 video where Hamilton isn't cited, i press like.
Hockenheim was long
McLarens are fast
Bring back the long straights
To joy the past !
Just stick to kung-foo and karate sub zero.
I miss the old Hockenheim
You still can ride the "old" long layout in the woods in AMS.
Bring back the old circuit 😩
Senna didn't make a mistake in 1984, his hear wing disconnected. No fault of his at all. In fact, this was one of his best races in the Toleman.
Yes History. SO JUST LET THIS TRACK IN THE CALENDAR I WANNA SEE VETTEL WIN HERE IN GERMANY AFTER THAT LITTE MISTAKE. The track is 1h away from my home and I love it every time I get back there to see the cars
The new one isnt bad but the old one has the history and is simply put just better from a viewer perspective, Yea most of the overtaking happened in the forest wich meant for the time no one really saw them but with nowadays technology it wouldnt be a problem.
Grazie Ragazzi ☝🏻

And CRASH!
#MISSIONSPINNOW
I really miss the high speed version of this track
Playing these two circuits in F1 Challenge 99-02. X)
I feel really proud to live in Hockenheim. This is our track! A shame that nobody at Liberty Media is willing to support the GP in future years.
Liberal media is a shame. They also don't like Hockenheim for it's history, because the "Nazis" used the track and altered it... Schuldkult.
First corner mayhem
*1994 flashback*
Bring the Thrill back!!!
Both versions are fun (well, what I can tell from PC games =)) ) Old - trying to not overcook brakes and find balance between top speed and keeping some speed in stadium. New - more balanced for overall enjoyment. Hairpin really made it good.
Remember kids, Tilke track
Not a single word about the great atmosphere during the "Schumacher days"...
I wish they kept the old layout but still built the new track. That way F1 can be run on the new layout and other series could run on the old one (endurance layout?).
We want the forest back
that's exactly what the greens said, which is partly the reason the track was changed in the first place
Swam too bad the track became one with the forest again
Bring back the old track
Anyone here after it is officially ousted for 2020 calnendar?
Bring it back in 2021 hopefully #wewanthockenheim
Its such a shame
They can't afford it
1:42 That chicane looks like Monza.
I'm pretty sure that Senna crashed at the Oskurve (2nd) chicane approach, not the first chicane, in 1984.
I miss the Old Hockenheim, was a amazing circuit...
Do that for everything track please
Please rain for the German Gp please 🙏 🙏 🙏 🙏 🙏 🙏
Lewis 41 no bro..ferrari 1&2 this race..hihi
Lewis 41 rain possibility is 50%
akhaironi channel watch out for Bottas at the start
NO
FIFAFinnish Today its 39%-43%
Senna did not lose the car, he lost the rear wing and was sliding backwards already well before the braking point and to sum up ,that was ahead of the ostkurve chicane and not the Jim Clark. I do not understand how one may edit video with such a mistake.
Please F1 next video add the subtitles
People react to the track change like it's a personal attack.
AMWULF GAMING couse it is! ;)
AMWULF GAMING nostalgia. F1 Fans life in the past.
1 year ago they were saying that Magny Cours is crap and that F1 should race at Paul Ricard.
Come the French GP at Paul Ricard, half of them say that Paul Ricard is crap and that the French GP should have been at Magny Cours.
This is just a small example of how bad F1 fans are
Celicly magny cours is a bad circuit.
But the fact that it was in the cildhood of the fans makes it somehow a legendary circuit.
AMWULF GAMING man so true
It's soooo sad, that they have shortened this racetrack! :(
corners at the end of the straights are more boring, straights are smaller, and technical section is easier due to higher wings.
A masterpiece of modernization

old track couldnt exist now with our shorter attention spans. by the 3rd straight people would have flipped channels or logged into instagram. its an improvement now
Bring the San Marino Grand Prix back!
Yes officer, this comment right here 👆🏽
This aged well. Twice.
2001年以前のホッケンハイムが好きだな。
This is the one case where the new track is not too bad, compared to the old. Just the straight followed by sharp hairpin is what gives it away and tells you it is artificial, feels strange. Wonder why with all that space to play with (look at the size of the old track), they made the new one so short. Could have made same length as the old just with way more turns.
