- Very un-biased video about Nightingale. Title is because I noticed not many people really talk about her, while she's honestly (imo) one of the best operators in the game, bare minimum in the Top 10. She's so damn useful I would expect her to be mentioned all the time alongside all the meta like Silverash, Surtr, Ch'aaaaaa and Ling, but it doesn't really happen at all. She's like a character everyone knows is incredible but at the same time goes under the radar when it comes to talk the meta. Skill 3 makes everyone nigh immune to Arts Damage, Skill 2 has funny pumpkins, and her Talent 2 is extremely valuable. So idk what's up. I know it allows me to put a clickbait title, though.
I really do think she's better than Warfarin and Kal'tsit. Nightingale just feels genuinely irreplaceable, and is a borderline necessity in JT8-3, H8-4 and many many CC stages and dailies.
If anyone found this video ableist, I want to apologize. Nightingale not being able to walk proper is inherently funny. The image with chibi Shining carrying chibi Nightingale on a wheelchair is also inherently funny to look at.

@@InnerWorls she is very useful for dealing with Arts dmg in the game. Arguably the best in the game. A healer by themself is already useful, but shes the only one that can help protect against arts dmg. Which is good because the majority of the units in game do not have Arts Res in their stats.
I would say shes niche, but her niche is very useful when you need it.

There is one thing about why people mainly ignore her. On the early days of the game (where healing medic still matter) we dont have many enemies that can deal art damage save for few casters, i saw few discussion where NG was useless and her only utility is to defent against caster and people mostly recommend ptilopsis for her rare sp boost.
But with talulah came and more enemies deal art damage, people start to use her but since the new era of arknight was all about beeg damage, her heal only ability make her gettting ignored by meta player.
Its a sad story honestly, now i mostly saw her during clear with boss that deal art damage or some niche clear where her cage was important.

Part of the reason as well as to why Nightingale is so valuable while Shining is not is simply do the abundance of arts being an actual threat while threating physical damage is much less common. After Patriot, high physical damage on his level is not common enough to where Shining can see more relevant usage. And I think part of that mainly has to do with the locations of where the main and most of the side stories take place: the eastern side of Terra, which has a lot of focus on arts compared to the western side, where we see mostly physical. Both in story and in the operators.
It might be a stretch, but I think when we get to the western nations like Columbia in the main story, we are gonna see a lot more dangerous physical damage enemies popping up to where Shining just might get her time to shine like Nightingale.
also just that a boost to def is minor and easily overcome, but any boost to res is massive.

I do like making them. It's the editing process that is incredibly miserable to go through, which is a shame, because I do like scripting and voicing them

I once brought Nightingale to fight Tallulah and as she was about to throw her fire wall, Nightingale said "No". Tallulah changed that day, she followed us back to the landship and didn't talk to anyone, then one day... she left, never to be seen again.

The phantoms get 100 res in nightingale's s3 which means it can just null arts dmg and skalter really helps keep it alive
Arts damage works like Physical damage: it can only ever be reduced to 5%, not negated totally, so the phantoms still takes a bit of damage.
I think one of the biggest reasons NG is so good is because she is filling a very specific niche NO other operator can fill.
We have dozen of operators who can solo hold the lane (duo if you count Kal'tsit), clear stage by themselves or heal (or you can just pick Skalter and ignore the fact that healers exist). But the second you need to deal with a LOT of arts damage where does it bring you? Right, back to NG.
To this day I giggle when I think about the "OG 6* roulette". Every single one suffered one of two fates. Either they got outscaled really hard in terms of usefulness by more specialized kits, or are inherently forever broken.
I mean... Nightingale will forever cockblock Arts damage like no other, while Ifrit will forever cockblock RES like no other, it's magical really.

Nightingale dolls saves so many operators and general moments in Arknights' late-boss stages, her utilities practically disorients enemy attack patterns in the best way possible for every players that gets her on the battlefield, all while giving great amount of resistance against the dark arts so Nightingale is a Hogwarts teacher or something like that truly a masterwork of an early 6* operator
She was my first 6 star. I got her P6 like 3 months ago or so. Love her a lot. She definetly is the Operator of all time.

Fast redeploying Surtr for the cost of smaller range, target count, invincibility etc.. yeah a lot of things lost, but one main thing remains. The Surtr tier DPS.
She debuffs a bunch of RES for something that redeploys a lot. Then she also has another great skill that is actually considered for purposes, and good talent on top of that. Like if we put to perspective, not even Surtr nor Chalter have that pros (you dont see much use of Surtr S2 and Chalter S1 eventhough they're legitimately good skills)
I think Surtr is still at the top due to insane quality of things she has but Texalt should definitely be regarded somewhere her tier as well
"Surtr tier DPS" in only in the numbers on paper, it means little in practice. Buff Army Passenger has way way more DPS than Buff Army Surtr, but it doesn't make him broken

@@SUPAH_SUPAH_SUPAH youre incredibly wrong about this. Youre seriously undervaluing 18 second redeploy time. Also, surtr doesnt have any stun unlike texas s3 which absolutely IS broken for its aoe, cc, and still good damage.
Well personally all medics besides Kal'sit are niche (And I guess maybe lumen because he can clear self stun), because damage is usually better than trying to heal stuff coming at you. That being said, Nightingale singlehandedly carries boss mechanics as an operator so long as they deal arts damage which is what makes her amazing. But thats the thing, she is dependant on bosses being arts and not strait up one shotting the party.
Now for Shining, yes her Gimmick is bad for later game but think about the number of enemies with high physical damage. Its not really that many, like only Possessed enemies and Patriot's Guriella's come to mind. In those cases she is pretty good at keeping squishier operators alive. Just wish her modules made it so that she gave physical damage reduction instead of more def. Plus I find her S2 to be better than her S3, because its shield applies to both physical and magical damage.

You forgot to mention that she gains an extra doll if you redeploy her plus they gain the arts resistance/dodge if placed in her range especially when her skill is active for even more tankiness. truly best crippled waifu. max pot gang!

I've had my Nightingale maxed for quite some time, and I am currently waiting for her banner so I can get max potential for her.
She was my second 6 star operator, and she has served me well as one of my main healers.
The biggest reason why she isn't talked about too often is because magic damage wasn't a large threat early in this game, and most healers who weren't Pt were utterly ignored.

I've been a nightingale supporter for over 2 years now and it's interesting to see the community resist acknowledging that she is actually good and actually has been good this entire time. Initially they would outright attack her and anyone that suggested she might be good. These days it's more just a passive aggressive disrespect by never mentioning her and constantly promoting ptilopsis, warfarin, or even perfumer over her.
For context I had no idea nightingale was good I just got her early and quickly realized that for the role of healing AOE healers were much better than single target in most cases. As I used her I realized how powerful she was, I think specifically the 1st indication to me were the stages with arts drones or bomb tails. Even when I made a solid argument in support of her the best I could hope to get anyone to admit is that "she's very niche". Which I mean I guess she is kind of niche, if your niche is EX-8, EX-8 CM, HM, and high risk CC.
What you said at 8:33 is so true though, her phantoms get very overlooked. A lot of people (many in these comments) just use her for resistance in intense arts damage situations. You highlighted several good uses but there's some even stranger ones like putting them on a tile to charge/capture a tower for example. Plus, unlike gravel, they don't take up any deployment limit and their dp cost doesn't ever increase.
I remember getting Nightingale (and Shining) as my first and only 6-stars for my first six months playing, and then when I finally found tier lists and people talking about Arknights online, every single one of them said Shining was great because Aak, and Nightingale was the worst 6-star because she was "literally less useful than Ptilopsis and Perfumer"
Only way I've gotten Nightingale was through gold certs. I've yet to obtain any pots for her. She deserves headpats. 👍
She doesn't even come close to top 10.
She's useful in maps with Talulah, especially with Fire Storm... She is also useful in a small handful of Contingency Contract.
In pretty much any other map I can think of, she is completely unnecessary. Not in the way of "You can use anyone in Arknights, so avoiding Nightingale is easy." but in the way of Skalter being literally the only healer you need in 95% of all maps, with Skalter also giving you more DPS whereas Nightingale won't add anything beyond healing. The reason why you can almost only find Nightingale footage in JT8-3, H8-4 and the contingency contract with the sandstorm is pretty obvious.
The res bonus simply doesn't matter 99% of the time. Having a medic in the squad also doesn't matter most of the time.
So it is no surprise then that Warfarin&Skalter providing more DPS, and Kalt'sit being the DPS are simply better choices in the broader gameplay of Arknights. Not even mentioning the upcoming Reed alter, which is the DPS and the support and heals way fucking more than most medics as long as enemy resistance doesn't start completely trivialising her, but then she still has the support of course.
If you really need a good medic to support Skalter then Lumen's utility of removing stun/freeze honestly feels significantly more useful than Nightingale in much of the content already, especially with his insane range.
The only thing underrated about Nightingales kit, are the gigachad cages. Those bastards are super strong as you mention in the video. Yet many people seem to forget about them. Nobody forgets how powerful Nightingale is against arts damage though, that is simply too niche to care about most of the time.
Surtr, Chalter, Ling, Silverash, Eyja, Mudrock, Thorns, Horn, Bagpipe, Skalter, Kalt'sit, Mlynar, Pozyomka, Omertosa, Penance and Reedalter are all busted operators that are worth putting into any team, I can not say the same for Nightingale.
Verdict:
Nightingale has a very strong niche in which she simply cannot be replaced right now. This is so niche however, that she is struggling to compete for being in the top 5 healers, let alone top 10 operators in a game that is all about destroying the enemy before they destroy you. *ESPECIALLY SINCE GUMMY IS ALREADY THE TOP 15 HEALERS ALL BY HERSELF.*
Nightingale is super worth to E2, but simultaneously not a high priority. Not being discussed often, until ridiculous arts comes into play, is well deserved.

As a nightingale simp since day 1, i was caught up by her beautiful design, her voice is gentle af, overall the best waifu, at least for me.
I used to think that Texas was overhyped as well. Nowadays though, I have no problem saying that Texas alter is the strongest unit in the game. I wouldn't even say it's particularly close. When I created my CN account, the moment I unlocked IS3 I went into it, simply to try out the new CN units, since because I lacked an E2, I couldn't borrow E2 supports in normal stages. I tried units like Reed Alter, Thorns, specter alt, and various other units, all very strong. The first time I use Texas I clear the first ending. It wasn't even difficult. I've used her plenty since then and she is no less broken. I haven't used Mlynar much, so maybe he can compare in strength. But compared to Surtr and Chalter, I would absolutely say that Texas is stronger.
Perfumer is more overlooked than NG. With NG everyone knows that she is the ultimate answer to arts enemies. Perfumer gained a lot from the module. With Perfumers S2 active the passive global heal is stronger than skalter S2 heal. combine that with only 14 dp cost and you have a must pick for someone like me using mudrock, la pluma, scene.
i upgraded her but ends up using only in some rare cases, nothing more, i still prefer Myrrh and Shining over every other medics (except if we're not talking about elemental damage)
I mean- Tbf (ACTUAL)supporters and healers are generally one of the most overlooked classes in any video games. Seeing someone healing isn't as exciting as doing the actual bajillion damage.

Nightingale's viability is directly proportional to the amount of arts casters (especially the AoEs), the only gripe I have with her kit is that mastering it only ups her deployment SP rather than simply lowering it, but that's possibly just me.
The module is ok, the range buff is weird but increasing her stats is nice too. Though personally, I'd much prefer her to have a 4 target heal or higher atk speed like Shining, but an increase of healing intake is cool too.
Overall, she is the definition of a "balanced" operator, not too broken like Chen with a water gun, but not too underwhelming like... Idk maybe Vigil I guess (from what I heard anyways), if she was then it's probably early game where enemy casters are as weak as my will to live.
This perfectly highlights the community propaganda about nightingale. If you think she's only good vs arts damage then you know very little about her kit. I would say her resistance is only her 2nd best feature and that has been true since ch 6 released.

Let me tell you this: Nightingale isn't great at early game levels, especially in Episode 1 entirely (except for the Talulah stages JT8-1 to 3, and some chapter 7 levels with the Sarkaz claw mercenaries). Where she shines is where Arts enemies hit hard and/or there are lots of them, most especially episode 2 and future events like the Liethanian themed ones.
Simply put,
Early game:
Perfumer>=Ptilopsis>Nightingale
Late game:
Nightingale>Ptilopsis>=Perfumer
Also if Arts resistance is her 2nd best thing, what's her first?
@GrumbleGrumble 25 she's excellent through all of chapter 6. Her phantoms can keep your operators from getting crowd controlled.
If you use her it's like having 2 operators in 1 since she plays like an AOE medic and a fast redeploy.
I agree everyone is entitled to their own playstyle but that doesn't mean down playing an operator's abilities. You can not play Nightingale but still admit her usefulness.

Nowadays, I use her more than Perfumer whenever I start a stage so there's that (paired with Ptilopsis in some cases). I just use Perfumer with Skalter for stacking passive heals.

I agree actually and I would expand on that even and say she doesn't shine in "breadcrumb" stages. What I mean by that are stages that slowly ramp up in difficulty leading to a boss or more challenging stage. Another operator that doesn't really shine in those types of stages is Surtr, because they don't have a boss or stand out enemy that is tougher than all the other enemies.
When I consider an operators power I'm basically ignoring the "breadcrumb" stages and focusing on the challenging stages so that's why I rate Nightingale highly.
Exactly like you said she can be used in all those stages and works just fine but you're generally better off taking a more offensive healer or no healing at all just to make the clear faster.

Okay I counted 18 jabs at Nightingale being a cripple in the vid. With a runtime of 624 seconds, this averages out to one disabled joke every 34.67 seconds.

My first 6★, now pot 3. She's great, and always has been
Don't forget that you can make them immortal with someone like Skalter and their CC#10 max risk strat. That phantoms do so many real shit that most operators can't. In current meta medics are not really used much cuz you have real wall operators like Mudrock & Penance or shitty ass operators that kill the enemy before they can touch you to deal damage like Thorns, Surtr etc. (Also operators with self-sustain which can solo-lane like Mountain etc. & I don't want to mention what Ling does bring up to the table) Because of like really long list of reasons you don't really much use medics or even if you use them you just stick with the one with more hps or the one that can do more than healing like warfarin. (Lumen is chosed because he has really good overall hps) HG realised this problem and they approached a method where they introduced the "Harmacist" medics. Yea they made medics that deals damage so you would use them to also harm the enemies... Which is a really lazy solution.
Nightingale on the other hand can do something other than healing with her phantoms. The reason that she is still used in like every map (If you're not using her then something is wrong with you) is because she can literally summon a thing that can stall ranged enemies for a nice amount of time, twice. (thrice if you redeploy her) Her RES buffing talent is a good one to have and she can also make your operators literally immune to arts damage for like idk 60 seconds? Yea with just 5 sp needed after deployment. Yea shit

@@Khroniclas Because arts resistance isn't her best ability. Her best ability is being able to be 2 operators for the cost of 1. An AOE healer and a fast redeploy. The arts resistance is just a bonus.

And yeah, AK community has such a severe DPS brainrot that NG being balans is completely overlooked by almost everyone. She's honestly the unit I recommend the second most on those 6 star vouchers since she provides something both incredibly powerful but also unique while big dick damage dealers saturate the game so much that I'd be willing to bet that the average player gets their first one within 4 months of play, and that's assuming they don't get SA from the starter banner.
Because of this video, I won the 1/3 chance and got her in recruitment so thanks SUPAH for the funny wheelchair lady.
While NG is an absolutely amazing irreplaceable specialist (not the class but the niche nature) unit, her counterpart is the jack-of-all-trades Ptilopsis that just fits in most teams and stages, and that's why I use Ptilopsis way more often.
NG is arguably my most wanted operator. There's a reason why I haven't seen another operator added to the game that also does her niche. HG probably added her and said "oh fuck she's too good" and never made another unit like her again.

I absolutely agree Nightingale is one of the best units in the game hands down, the amount of things she is able to do is ridiculous. That being said I love how you say this operator is underappreciated while also saying Shining is pretty bad. Like NG is def better than Shining but imo that is strictly due to the phantoms alone, take them out and I personally say they on par. Shining was my first 6* op and honestly is the only ST medic I use except Warf, but lets be real and admit Warf is a buffer not a healer. Shining has enabled so many dumb moments even without me realizing due to the sheer fast that +100 defense on top of her passive def boost is kinda busted unless the boss has 9k attack. Shining and Warf are my running medic combo's to start any SSS run to this day still even.
Im also curious what the difference between "broken" and "really strong" is? To me broken is any operator that drastically reduces the difficulty of a stage while also being easy to use. Ling I dont find easy to use so I wouldnt count her as broken per say but really strong. So I am curious what definition you use.
I play Sarkaz niche, and not having both Liz and W to clear high difficulty stage is a pain in the bum . I'd kill to have Liz on my team.

Shining feels strange in that she does her defense up job the best with units that already have decent defense, in contrast trying to make her help low defense units usually isn't worth enough for a drastic change if you only use her ( and not Nian too)
I do think it's a launch roster issue but now I'm not sure why her talent DEF buff isn't simply higher since I'm not really expecting another medic that focuses on giving DEF.

Also if you use Skalter you can keep alive the Phantoms so they can tank a fuck ton of ranged damage for long periods.

Usually when operators are ranked, they are ranked in terms of "General Usage", as in how good an Operator is in the vast majority of stages, not "Niche" situations where "this operator is amazingly strong in X and Y situations" but is otherwise "whatever" in most other situations.
In Nightingales case, she is a rather strong but niche operator, as you will not always need her RES buff ability, but when you do, she is no doubt the best for the job. Compare this, however, to a cheaper to deploy and much easier to obtain 5 star version (Ptilopsis), that has a global +30% extra SP per second for all auto-recovery operators, and with her skill can heal once ever 3/4 (0.75) of a second with her skill, which while it does have a 100 SP requirement, her passive works on herself, so is more like 77 SP in practice, meanwhile, Nightingales S3 is a whopping 120 SP and offers no ASPD modifications, when AoE Medics have an abysmal once every 2.85 second heal rate.
This is why she isn't favorable in most situations. She is generally outclassed by her 5 star counterpart and outside of that particular niche, she is not really worth bringing 9 times out of 10 unless you just really like her, which is fair, she is a really cool operator design, and I do wish I could use her more, since I raised mine all the way to E2L60 S3M3 and L1 Module just for Tallulah's fight, and barely get any opportunities where she shines more than Ptilopsis does since then. That's just how it be unfortunately. Don't take any of what I say as me badmouthing her, as I generally really like her as an Operator, I am just giving an unbiased review, while explaining why she isn't rated higher in most lists.
On the topic of Texas Alter however, she is overhyped as hell mainly because of the whole "she can solo CC11 18 risk", what people don't seem to realize is the only reason she does that, is because CC11 is actually really easy in general, you can solo CC11 Risk 18 with just Dorothy or Magallan too, doesn't make them broken operators, same with Pozyomka and Ling, however Pozy at least is actually rather strong, just not broken, while Ling is debatebly broken with how overtuned she is, not going to get into a rant about that though, comment is long enough already-
