In this video I talk about pets in retirement. There are many things to consider when you decide to have a pet. The pros and cons of having a pet. I feel that they are beneficial, however, that comes with some pitfalls and responsibilities.

I had my Nigel (a Westie) from the time he was 3 months old until he passed away in 2018 at 14 years old -- I'm single so he was my family and it was devastating when I had to say good-bye - but I wouldn't trade the 14 years I had with my beautiful boy for anything. He brought such joy into my life - still miss that little guy

This comment brought a tear to my eye. Cannot imagine life without my little guys and know I'll cry like a baby when they are gone.

I watched this video and I think, it's good to have a pet. I'm retired and I have a rescue cat. I can agree with you. My cat loves me more than my children do. She never gets an attitude or slams doors. She follows me and loves my attention. She's a good companion. I lost my other cat during the pandemic and my adult children advised against me getting another pet. I am an adult, I have a right to another pet. I found this cat and she's a sweet little thing. When I come home from the store, she is happy to see me. 🎉😺
She's a little tuxedo cat. She was the runt of the litter.
    Good video.

Awesome! Good story. Whether you are cat or dog person, pets, to me, are great to have around. Our dogs do the same when my wife and I get home. Nothing like seeing those tails wagging when we open the door. Thanks for stopping by, I really appreciate that! Have a great weekend.

Excellent topic for retirement. I think its the first time I've ever seen it discussed.

Thank you. I thought it should be talked about. Many seniors have pets, including me, and they bring such value to our retirement I can't even express. They also bring responsibility. I hope I conveyed both in this video.

Cassie and Katie sure are cute little travelling companions nice to know that you and your wife adopted them from a shelter.
Our dog is much larger (also a rescue) and is a really good passenger in our car, so we take him everywhere. We recently returned from a four day driving tour through Nagano,
Yamanashi and Shizuoka prefectures in Japan, staying in dog friendly hotels for 3 nights (lucky for everyone he doesn't bark).
The added bonus to having 'Chevy' with us ,is that we stop at many places along the way to do our "business" and find new and interesting places along the way whilst taking nature walks.
We also (talk) with our dog, he listens well and even though he may not understand " our human words" he sure can " read the air" and our emotions.
Our mixed breed , beautiful boy is the best dog ever(any dog owner has the right to say that) and the best 30 dollars we've ever spent! (for the paperwork).
Happy paws and have a great day Scott!🐾🐾

This is a great story. We find new and exciting stops along the way as well. Dog friendly hotels are awesome and ours don't bark either, UNLESS, other dogs bark 1st. Rescues can be a challenge but once they are comfortable with you...they are the best! Give Chevy a hug from me.

In my younger years and in my work I traveled all over the world. In those days you could hitchhike anyplace and I hitched across the US multiple time. In my 20's I lived in France and England for extended periods of time. And for work I traveled to Sweden, Brazil, Japan, Australia, The Netherlands, Mexico, and places I'm probably forgetting. At 70, I have no desire to leave my house. Travel when you are young. Traveling, especially today, is not for those of us with mobility issues.

    Dear Scott.
I love your videos because I'm approaching the age when you retired.
My only complaint is the audio. It comes through only the right headphone. Hope you'll fix it.
    Your friend from India.
