As a female I would be totally for it if my husband wanted to wear a full wig unit. Whatever makes you as a male more confident and happy overall. I say go for it!
If you were single would you date a man that wore a wig? Say he was a coworker or a friend of a friend? Id bet you'd say "oh thanks but I'm dating someone." I have all my hair and I wonder if I would be as willing to date a bald woman.
Also there are ways to pluck and thin the front lace making the unit look way more realistic. Guys you can RUclips the videos the ladies watch. Same approach.
I've been wearing a full cap (Daring from HIM) for nearly a year now. I'm also considering 'upgrading' to Distinguished from HIM, and am still treating my hair loss with topical finasteride and minoxidil.
How do you like or not like the full cap from HIM? I was considering trying one of them. At least on RUclips they look much more natural than these, but with filters and such you cannot even trust your eyes anymore. Looking forward to your feedback.
I've been a full cap wearer for many years. I was with HD and lost a lot of money as they went bankrupt. I have no temporal hair to show. The key to adding temp hair or even sideburns, is when you're (or whomever) is making the template. That can be tricky. The hair in that area has to be either ordered thinner or thinned by your stylist to create a natural look. My systems are all lace which helps a lot. I've ordered 2 full cap systems from Lavivid and was dissapointed. 1.They came way too thick and secondly, I ordered bone straight hair and they came back with a wave which I didn't like.( Similar to the guy in the video) Speaking of which, as everyone can see 110% is too excessive in density and he would look more natural with a graduated hairline. I agree with Jake, to add facial hair and sideburns would improve this guys look.
One other thing to add, when creating your template, make sure you add some recession to the hairline. One subscriber eluded to the fact that this guys hairline was too round or straight with an unnatural appearance. With full caps, getting the template right is key. It must have worked though, he got the girl. lol
Hi Jake, I have a full cap system that I have been wearing for about 3 years. If you would like to have a chat I can tell you about my whole experience with them and the transition from toppers. I still can't quite get it right, but would be great to have a chat with you. Is there somewhere that I could email you?
With the first model it was the hairline particularly at the top-center that looked unnatural. Yes, you are correct, facial hair and sideburns would help immensely. It looked like he was wearing a cap. Why he didn't have some facial hair as well as the 2nd model, I do not know. It would seem common sense to incorporate that look when trying to blend in the wig.
It looks like it came straight from the Halloween section at Walmart. Just a huge dark wall of hair! No recession, no scalp showing, too thick.! I actually think bradley cooper wears partial pieces for some movies
Who does make good human hair full-cap wigs? I’m not sure about this one from LaVivid. Maybe if they had options for density, I’d be more inclined to try one. Also, I can’t grow temple hair or a good beard. My solution, so far, has been to go with Belle Madame men’s wigs. They have a lighter density and, for me, they fit well. Some of the styles have temple-to-temple lace fronts, fortunately. They’re hard to come by right now, and I have to order mine from the UK (I’m in the US). They have a couple of HH styles, but I’d like to find alternatives, if at all possible.
I have a full cap that is excellent, I have worn full caps for about 8 years but my most recent is the best anti was a stock unit. I am 67 so it is white to match my facial hair. Why is this one so good? It is a lace front from ear to ear and is a lower density unit and best of all it is easy to apply with no need for glue or tape ,but I use some tape. I get hair compliments from strangers and those who know me. If you are interested I can send pics. Yes it is pricey.
From video I've seen of some of these full wigs I'd be interested. I'm 73 and want something but my hair is still dirty blonde where beRd is all colors
Designed theatrical........everyday full cranials and this one......whew.....we need a makeover!!! LOL Starting from the base up.....a thinner skin or lace......a softer hairline and not straight harsh lines...........hilites......less density........more recession.........temples........and if not a total alopecia client......growing out would help. As a hair replacement guru and long time since the age of 18....hair client needing a 3/4 cap I am one of the worst clients to have sitting in your chair.......I would cringe if I sat in my own chair and had to design fake hair for myself. We full and or 3/4 cap clients sort of got screwed in the hair department.........lol. Thanks Robb...........would luv to talk to you more sometime.
I would absolutely try one of those to be honest. Wouldn't even fully care if it looks 100% natural. I think I'm vain enough to admit that I'd use hairpieces to begin with. As long as it doesn't look ridiculous - I'm good with it.
There are full lace mens wigs out there, but they're pretty pricey and mainly used for costume/tv instead of balding. Edward zo has made some content about them since he has his own brand.
This is a great video. The problem with full-cap wigs is finding a reputable company that makes wigs that don't look like halloween costumes. Truth in advertising is a huge problem with this industry. William Shatner has the most real-looking wig I've seen but I have no idea where he gets them. I live in L.A. and have not been able to find any wig makers in town.
yeah every company uses fake pics.. real guys with real hair and they advertise thats what its going to look llike. its honestly pretty dumb. degrading brand integrity. ive consulted with these companies on this, but they dont make changes.
There’s a guy called Troy Mitchell that does wigs for celebs (and non-celebs). I have no idea how much he charges though, it might be several thousand dollars.
It doesn’t look good at all on the first guy. I don’t know how the stylist could let him walk out the door like that. It’s a major disservice. The second batch looked a lot better; a lot more realistic.
I agree with you that the lack of temple on full cap wigs often creates a super unrealistic transition. It is for this exact reason that I wear women's short hairstyle wigs. I haven't personally tried it yet but I think the best way to go if you're going to wear full cap is to use a full lace wig that has temples in sideburns and glue/tape to your head. There are tons of resources in the alopecia community addressing this but it is mainly aimed towards feminine hairstyles. The reason I choose to go with a full cap instead of a hair system is that it gives me the flexibility to change my hairstyle often and also go without any cap at all
But with the full cap_ without any doubt at all, and if you want to be honest it looks like the people are wearing wigs especially when you look at the foreheads, maybe it has to do with the density like you say 😮
Jake, your comment about adding lace at the sides sounds very reasonable. If lace at the sides of these systems were added and extended to fall in front of the ears and even a bit further down, and the hair there was kept fairly thin, it might work better for men. As for the density issue, I agree with what you have said in many of your videos that most of us, male and female, from a European background look better in medium-light or light density. (We women have it easier because society accepts women in huge piles of styled hair.)
Hey Jake. Got a full cap on right now. It's not attached by glue like the one you show in this vid. Mines got an elastic band inside. Feels like wearing a baseball cap. Feels secure. All these full hair wigs look like great pieces however, they are not cut in very good at all. Someone not afraid to cut these in makes all the difference otherwise they will look like wigs.
The first dude didnt look good, it has a bad hairline, and it does look too dense too.
