Jake the fact that your system gets more realistic each video proves the tough but necessary learning curve we can all do own our on I have tested 15 tapes and bond. Just now I found walker signature tape and “ for me” and my lifestyle it’s working excellent. But it took a lot of experimenting.
One of the most needed videos for people interested or currently using hair systems. So true. Hair systems are supposed to be a diy unless you’re on a movie set and you’re getting paid to have someone do your hair. Granted, somethings you might want a professional for but most is totally doable!
I like both of your channels. I learned about Toppik because of DJ's videos, and now I use it all the time. Aside from hair loss drugs, it's the best thing I've done for my confidence.
Salons are a disaster in my experience, never again, everything you said happened to me, I went to a salon the first time and a day later it had all lifted, they told me I needed to sort out my sweating issues. It was disgusting the way they treated me. I now order off lord hair they cut to template size and I also get them to do the cut in, their cut stylist is awesome
There are a lot of online shops that will make you a true custom unit if you send them a template and hair sample (or specify curl type and hair color). Some of them will also cut and style the hair for you.
Congratulations Jake! in this video the position of your system is correct! each time you do better. I know it is something that took time but it is gratifying to know that there are people like you who are there to help and support the community that is in this challenge. let's go for more !!!
To me this is way better than a transplant. Your hair looks natural and great. People who have transplants to me are never happy, they spend fortunes going through pain and inconvenience and then keep wanting more. I'm 56 and still got my hairly luckily. My problem is fighting grey......
I have a Swiss Lace. It lasts 6 months; holds well and looks great. I can squeeze another 2 months out of it if I need to, or the time of year suits it. I do everything myself; I don't use a hairdresser.
I just watched a newer video where you are getting 6 months out of a system so it's cool to see the knowledge evolution and it's even better that you are able to share it with the rest of us. How did you learn to cut your own hair - especially the back?
Hi Jake, I agree with everything you said. I wore one for many years. I started in the 90's and back then you did not just use the tape. She used to shave the top of my head and then she would make a braid with fishing line. Then the inside of the unit all around the edge was rubber and she would use a sewing needle, insert the fishing line through the rubber, and into the braid all around the back of my real hair. The front piece she used sticky tape on both sides with some glue added to the tape. My scalp at times used to get so itchy when I would pick the front up to change the tape before I glued the front back down I had a separate toothbrush and I would dip it in a bottle of alcohol and brush the whole top of my head and go back as far as I could to kill the itch before retaping the front. I brushed it very gently because the hairs do fall out and of course don't grow back. The sun and washing the unit would fade the color so you had to color every month. She charged me 20.00 for each color. I watched her do the coloring and I started to color it myself. i told her my niece was a hairdresser and she would color it. i did a better job in the color than she did. The maintenance fee every month back then was about 45.00 plus the tip. I stopped doing it like 13 years ago. Screw her. Today I see on YT people put them on themselves. I am still not bald on the top of my head but the hair is thin.
Hello. and thank you for your advice and video's. I am a licensed barber and hairdresser so I have a lot of experience with hair. However, My wife has talked me into the possibility of a hairpiece. I learned from your video and will be looking for more from you,
Virgin human hair conserves color and silkiness better, last longer, but like any human hair u gotta take care of it and deep condition from time to time. I also recommend getting a sun block spray made for hair.
I use to wear some kind system they called the "Hollywood" model that was either a lace or monofilament base with a thicker, polyurethane-coated material around the edges (which they hid with under-vented hair), and the base did last a long time, but I had to periodically have fresh hairs added to it.
When the typical initial cost of purchasing and having a system installed is at $1000 in my area, replacing every month is crazy. I've been really struggling with getting it done out of fear of the upkeep being equivalent to a monthly car payment. Doing upkeep at home seems intimidating.
I get a year out of every system by taking care of them. I remember a friend telling me it looked like I was losing hair because so much fell out. and that was on a swiss lace piece I got at a salon with bleached knots. with the exception of this piece I got in September that this stylist destroyed, I couldve gotten 2 years out of the same model. threw it out unfortunately. I have never had a swiss lace that retained most of its hair until I ordered this model on Amazon. Thé piece I had on before thé one thé stylist ruined(same model as before) I couldve gotten 2 years out of it but like an idiot threw it out. I actually abuse this piece to get the hair to thin out. Ive used Ross and Nancy on Amazon..not the best but serves my needs def wanna try lavivid. I almost always go for thicker density because I know in 6 months hairs gonna fall out...yes you have tp dye the hair but you can definitely get 2 years out of them. A 90% density a year max. A 130% density is harder to style to look real but can be done...thick hair on the sides and thick beard and knowing how to make them look thinner in thé beginning..unfortunately my expérience with nonsurgical hair replacement stylists is that they know how to blend and do a template but cant style. I am wearing thé same piece since I started commenting on your channel a few months now ..tweaked it along thé way grew my failed undercut out and cut the basé à little..parting it To thé left instead of to thé right..less bangs and compared how I look now compared to the pièces I had cut in at salons for 12 years and looks just as good. I know in one of your vidéos you mentioned how theres always more of a challenge on thé side you part it and notice you never show us that side..show us..I agree with you.just intérested how you do thé part. I think because I forgot To get bleached knots thé last few times (I always assume mistakenly when I order thé knots will automatically be bleached).. I am an H1b..even with bleached knots H1b is still détectable in thé front...Im thinking of getting a very blond piece and dying it dark brown to be able to wear thé hair up for once. Guys with super blond hair have it easier to wear it up. I think because bleached knots make the hair fall out quicker.
I regularly get a year or more from most systems, SFS, UTS and combo lace/UTS. I think that the main reasons are I use only water to clean the hair and alcohol to remove the tape (yes, tape on UTS). Moreover, I sleep with a skull cap and use a skull cap while playing ice hockey and bicycle riding. The wig hair does not need a lot of product IMO.
Interesting. I have 7 champions from Lordhair, I always rotate them and I never sleep in my hair, I don’t even use hard glues because I never go swimming in them, I exercise in them. I just use Taft hair glue… it’s easy to wash out, I’ve literally had some of my pieces for 3 years and all my hair is still really great
I do the same. I don't want to sleep w them on my head. I've used Schwarzkopf gels which dry firm and hold great, but come off with just water alone in the shower. I googled Taft and saw that it's made by Schwarzkopf also. I've never seen it in any stores here in the states. I think you might be in Europe somewhere. Anyway there's also a spray called Ebin. The one in a black can holds great. Comes off in seconds under warm shower as well. No mess to deal with. Your systems stay clean and last years.
Jake here's a tip... Try some BGM that doesn't sound so tangled (excuse the pun) try lower music than the pitch of your voice . Low Light orchestral please.
Also I'd add that hair salons try and push their products, as if they are the only ones suitable for a hair system. Experience has taught me this is not always the case and that there are equal if not better products on the open market, available in general stores and at a fraction of the cost. Hair salons never tell you about deep conditioning the system to prolong the life of it which is something I do to gain an extra few weeks out of the unit.
I am waiting for my first fitting some time this week hopefully, and I have to say I'm lucky, the lady doing the fitting has told me where to find products on a budget in budget shops near me. I appreciated that truth from her.
@@momentoftruth9827 a place in Bury, England. I haven't had it fitted yet but during my consultation the lady kindly told me where we can find the suitable hair system products on a budget stating "it's already expensive enough as it is" which was really good of her
@@markyh88 Great Mark. I was with a company in the UK called Total Cover Plus. Had some issues with them and now do everything on my own, just ordering the system online. I can point out some good products that will help as I've had several years of trial and error with numerous ones, from shampoos to deep conditioners, to glue and tape.
Hi Jake, what hair system would you recommend me if I do a lot of sports? I am thinking about getting a hair system but I am always a bit nervous about the posibillity that it could fall off during a football (soccer) match or while going on holiday (for example to Greece or Spain, where it's hot + see water). I am not rich and definitely don't earn as much money as ppl in the US. Therefore I can not afford one buying every 2-3 months.
I like v-looped ultra thin skin systems because they're the most comfortable and have the most realistic hairline, but I CONSISTENTLY have problems with the side part, at least on the stock units. They're advertised as "freestyle", but that part is NOT adjustable. It won't budge from where it is, and it's usually not in exactly the right spot and doesn't look right. Is there anything I can do about that (OTHER THAN slicking my hair straight back with gel to hide it)? Would a custom unit be less likely to have this problem? Would I HAVE TO order a permanent part?
I have worn the best hair systems available. I stopped wearing them because I cannot take adhesives as a method of attachment. Why can’t someone figure out a new method of attachment, say along the lines of a “vacuum suction” seal unit? I think it is time to make wearing hair pieces fun and easy to apply and remove! Thank you. Walt
I really liked this! It’s very down to earth and informative. What bothers me is that there are no entirely, glue on base wigs for trans girls like me? That I can find anyway? They sell men’s hairpieces with glue on bases yet longer ladies “wigs”are all breathable lace front or full lace with little no base to glue to a bald head without getting custom work done. Love this though !
Dude, the hairline looks great raised! I, personally, do the four finger test (index finger to pinky placed on forehead), and I place them above my eye brows. I dot my hairline right above the last finger. As for salons, I did my research. I read a ton of reviews. My place offers a fair price, and they do an excellent job. However, I know a good 10 of them that are horrible. One pretends to be a “luxury salon”...yet the pieces look awful lol. Great vid and info!
I'm confused as the cost for one, the cost of maintenance. Do you take it off everyday keep it on? I wear a tight fitted full face motorcycle helmet will this ruin it?
It's crazy how fat was "destigmatized" before hair loss... there's more than just stigma to hairloss its like without hair you are just viewed as a completely different person, you can feel the difference even from strangers walking thru public... and there's nothing you can do about it unless you get a hair system and maintain it properly all this effort
Hi jake My concern is my temple area on sides ( forhead) is quite wide( far apart) Most models shown have strong natural temple areas. Would it work on guys like me?
what is better the tape or glue? would you be confident to fight in one of these? or would it come off? What about training daily? Would i need to take it off every 2 weeks for example to clean the system and my head? Thanks bro
Going to my first Salon on Thursday, too bad it seems the industry can be so scummy. I only have one option near me and DIY seems overwhelming. Hopefully I get lucky!
Sad you personally have really experienced some decietful salons! I am sorry as a hair client you had to endure this and be lied to so much. That must have made your hair journey more difficult. It is ashamed ever so often some of the good ones never get credit for trying to be vigilant and truthfully. Example......like the young lady you have in Florida she really seems like she would be incredible. Consider I know where she got her start I applaud her. But just like her there are a few of us that are knowledging not screwing people. Ashame.................
My local salon just butchered my new 0.03mm poly system by cutting into the hairline, leaving a short stubble from the front row of hairs. I'm so disappointed and seriously considering taking it off in a few days and going back to shaving my head. I've been happily wearing for 6 months and now feel so uncomfortable wearing one.
I do have a backup unit that's 4 months old but I only found out about the hairline after they reattached this new one. Won't it irritate my scalp if I take it off too soon?
After looking at it again it's not just the front row, there's hairs from about 1cm behind the hairline that have been cut flat. I was able to pluck a few but I think it would take hours to get rid of them all. Thanks for the suggestion though, it really helps having other people who can relate to me.
Joshua Morton I have found that taking it off early doesn’t irritate it, it might be a pain in the ass, but working a little at a time I think the hairline can be brought back to somewhat of a normal one given you have enough length from front to back and the patience to pluck..... but I agree with Jake as well..... this is something a noob(like myself) would do..... not a so call professional you spending hard earned money on!
Hi, jake i love your videos you really inspierd me to get my own HS :) Could I ask you something, where do you buy your systems? they look great probs for that :D I consider to buy my first system online to save some money :D i would use the same system (France+Poly) like yours do you have any advise for me ? Greetings from Austria :)
lee gives good advice. the best thing is to first work with a partner that can help you. i am making an ebook right now that will help with this process.
I don’t no where you are getting your information or what you are doing but hair systems last over a year easily, not 5 months , your judgement is on your climate of your country and how much you are washing it
This is spot on. I went to a local salon that specializes in hair systems for haircuts and she was cool at first but would always try to sell me her overpriced systems. I used the clip-on things at first when I had enough hair but when I transitioned to tape/glue she wouldn't help me at all! Basically kicked me out of the store cuz I kept asking her how get the tape to stick and the best glues/tape for my system. She was like "you obviously have been watching RUclips about how to do it so just go watch more videos. I can't help you." I was willing to pay this bitch for the first install. Like I get it, you have a business to run but I'm a DIY guy and you coulda made a little money off me anyway. She was like "if you can't afford it, don't wear it" and "you don't buy parts for a car and tell the mechanic to install those". Saying it was insulting for me to bring in my own stuff for her to use. Lol. Yeah can't afford it from you, I told her. And it's not a car it's a freaking hair system lol. I wanted to cuss her out so bad but I didn't lol. These salons need to get with the times or loose business. And there's nothing wrong with doing it all through them, just not for me. I've always been a DIY guy. Anyways, I eventually figured it out myself from awesome channels like this. Thanks Jake!!
She kinda has a point, she has years of knowledge and expertise that you want imparted for free - she didn't get that knowledge for free, youtube is where you get "free" info. Kodak used to be the giant on the block in film but is now out of business because they refused to see the changing marketplace, these stylists may be making the same mistake but they if they move toward the DIY person they still should be compensated for imparting the knowledge
Here are my feelings on hair systems. But you need to do what makes YOU happy. I am balding, and definately don't like it! But I don't wear caps, and I don't do the Donald Trump whirly twirly comb-over thing either, I just keep my hair short. The problems I have with wearing a hair system/toupee is the deceit. Example, if a hotty comes up to you and compliments you on your hair, what do you say? If you acknowledge her compliment, you are lying to her. And if this encounter turns into a serious relationship, at what point do you tell her? If I was a women and the guy I was dating was wearing a hair system and he kept it a secret from me for awhile, I would question what else he is hiding from me.
Ok here we go- I wish this very realistic and informative video’s title was “Realistic expectations “ not lies stylists tell you. As a stylist and business owner I can tell you I never guarantee Anything, because everything I do And the client does plays into longevity of Any service in the salon. Stylists are generally the helpers of the world. We love to help people. Please don’t paint us as liars.
Wait, this guys hair is a hair system?!?! Wow!! It looks so real. Also - if someone happens to figure it out, who gives a FUCK?! You can so easily turn it to your favour by 1. Laughing about it to show your humility/strength of character. 2. Self preservation shows you care :)
Number 10 you forgot to put gas in your car when you visit the hair club Number 11 you have to open the door when you get there Number 12 Im just wasting your time with repetitive bullshit
Number 1 - there's no such thing as hair system!! These are wigs, toupees( still a wig!)or hair transplants! " my darling, your hair system looks really pretty today; did you wash it? Oh, no,I've sent it with the shirts, so don't know what they did! You got buttons along the parting, so that's why you look cute as a button!!

They sell men’s hairpieces with glue on bases yet longer ladies “wigs”are all breathable lace front or full lace with little no base to glue to a bald head without getting custom work done. Love this though !
Hi ,wanted to what is the best product to take the shine from the hair ,also can you advise me best system thin skin to buy ,many thanks
How do you find a good salon? I am in North FL and beginning my research but it is pretty overwhelming. Thanks
How did you go about researching, finding and booking the right stylist to install and regularly refresh your man unit hair system?
my bond only lasts good 2 weeks
Same here!
@@JakeKent and the hairdresser said it was 3-4 weeks. lies! :D
Great vid and info!
thanks dog! yeah... my girlfriend put it a little low. anyways, glad to hear you are finding a good partner!
Most online retailers lie and say they manufacture the hair - they are just reselling
correct
Way to get the truth out!
I'm confused as the cost for one, the cost of maintenance. Do you take it off everyday keep it on? I wear a tight fitted full face motorcycle helmet will this ruin it?
Ok buddy her we go since u say u can help I do construction I sweat an on the weekends I go vert skating so it has to do whit sweat any suggestions ??
Hi buddy, what system r u wearing?
I know you’ve said it, but what type of system and bind do you have
It's crazy how fat was "destigmatized" before hair loss... there's more than just stigma to hairloss its like without hair you are just viewed as a completely different person, you can feel the difference even from strangers walking thru public... and there's nothing you can do about it unless you get a hair system and maintain it properly all this effort
wild
Since I work outside, I’m thinking of getting my first one only in winter time! Are there systems for the summer? Like shorter hair maybe!
i wear mine year round, but lace systems will be most breathable.
@@JakeKent thanks! I will ask for lace system. It’s like 800 dollars here in my city for a custom! 550 for one off the shelf
@@79cobraac cool!
Hi jake
My concern is my temple area on sides ( forhead) is quite wide( far apart)
Most models shown have strong natural temple areas. Would it work on guys like me?
Hair looks good today and completely natural .... glad the beard is back :) :)
Thanks! 😃
what is better the tape or glue? would you be confident to fight in one of these? or would it come off? What about training daily? Would i need to take it off every 2 weeks for example to clean the system and my head? Thanks bro
Going to my first Salon on Thursday, too bad it seems the industry can be so scummy. I only have one option near me and DIY seems overwhelming. Hopefully I get lucky!
im praying for you brother!
Can I ask where you got your system? Was it from Lavivid?
some are from lavivid, yes.this one was from a stylist. im not sure of the brand.
How long it can stay on your head ? Why don't you tell us ? Pleaseee
Depends where you live. With gym sweating and heat it lasts 7-10 days
Hey Jake. I am interested in where specifically the hair system factories are located. What country/city? Thanks.
generally china
theres other countries, but most are produced there.
@@JakeKent Thanks for the response! I am based there. I will look around.
Could Do Without that Music or play it much lower! Just A Suggestion!
Jake anyway of emailing you?

Sad you personally have really experienced some decietful salons! I am sorry as a hair client you had to endure this and be lied to so much. That must have made your hair journey more difficult. It is ashamed ever so often some of the good ones never get credit for trying to be vigilant and truthfully. Example......like the young lady you have in Florida she really seems like she would be incredible. Consider I know where she got her start I applaud her. But just like her there are a few of us that are knowledging not screwing people. Ashame.................
Thank you for being you ❤️
😍😍😍😍😘😘😘😘
Working on getting my real hair to.
I have a nice and beautiful hair system
But, nothing beatz the real grown thing.
Josh, I did that to my new system, take a pair of tweezers and pull out the short cut hairs, it will save it some what and make it wareable.
Thanks for the suggestion though, it really helps having other people who can relate to me.
that really sucks to hear. especially if you're paying a pro, then you shouldnt have bad results. they need to be held accountable.
Hi, jake i love your videos you really inspierd me to get my own HS :)
Could I ask you something, where do you buy your systems? they look great probs for that :D I consider to buy my first system online to save some money :D i would use the same system (France+Poly) like yours do you have any advise for me ?
Greetings from Austria :)
lee gives good advice. the best thing is to first work with a partner that can help you. i am making an ebook right now that will help with this process.
I don’t no where you are getting your information or what you are doing but hair systems last over a year easily, not 5 months , your judgement is on your climate of your country and how much you are washing it
I am a part of the HS club now. Can't believe it. I look at the mirror and say who is this guy? 🤣
awesome! welcome brother!
@@JakeKent i will send an email soon to organise the interview :)
Just fing HOT
This fellow is so handsome, he doesn't need a piece. He's like Sean Connery with those looks!
Gay
Wait, this guys hair is a hair system?!?! Wow!! It looks so real.
Also - if someone happens to figure it out, who gives a FUCK?! You can so easily turn it to your favour by 1. Laughing about it to show your humility/strength of character. 2. Self preservation shows you care :)
heck yes!
Number 10 you forgot to put gas in your car when you visit the hair club
Number 11 you have to open the door when you get there
Number 12 Im just wasting your time with repetitive bullshit
Number 1 - there's no such thing as hair system!! These are wigs, toupees( still a wig!)or hair transplants!
" my darling, your hair system looks really pretty today; did you wash it?
Oh, no,I've sent it with the shirts, so don't know what they did!
You got buttons along the parting, so that's why you look cute as a button!!
