  • Choosing a hair system can be tough. There's a couple things to consider. Here's the basics of what goes into a hair system, and how to choose what is right for you. In this video, we talk about the hair system base, the hair system's hair, and the hair systems attachment to the hair. My Recommended Products:

In men, hair often begins to recede from the forehead.

Patchy hair loss (alopecia areata) is sometimes preceded by itchy or painful scalp.
    Patchy hair loss (alopecia areata)
Repeated stress on the hair can cause a type of hair loss called traction alopecia.
    Traction alopecia
t's becoming increasingly common for menopausal women to experience frontal fibrosing alopecia, in which the hairline moves back.
    Frontal fibrosing alopecia
Hair loss can appear in many different ways, depending on what's causing it. It can come on suddenly or gradually and affect just your scalp or your whole body.
Signs and symptoms of hair loss may include:
Gradual thinning on top of head. This is the most common type of hair loss, affecting people as they age. In men, hair often begins to recede at the hairline on the forehead. Women typically have a broadening of the part in their hair. An increasingly common hair loss pattern in older women is a receding hairline (frontal fibrosing alopecia).
Circular or patchy bald spots. Some people lose hair in circular or patchy bald spots on the scalp, beard or eyebrows. Your skin may become itchy or painful before the hair falls out.
Sudden loosening of hair. A physical or emotional shock can cause hair to loosen. Handfuls of hair may come out when combing or washing your hair or even after gentle tugging. This type of hair loss usually causes overall hair thinning but is temporary.
Full-body hair loss. Some conditions and medical treatments, such as chemotherapy for cancer, can result in the loss of hair all over your body. The hair usually grows back.
Patches of scaling that spread over the scalp. This is a sign of ringworm. It may be accompanied by broken hair, redness, swelling and, at times, oozing.
    When to see a doctor
See your doctor if you are distressed by persistent hair loss in you or your child and want to pursue treatment. For women who are experiencing a receding hairline (frontal fibrosing alopecia), talk with your doctor about early treatment to avoid significant permanent baldness.
Also talk to your doctor if you notice sudden or patchy hair loss or more than usual hair loss when combing or washing your or your child's hair. Sudden hair loss can signal an underlying medical condition that requires treatment.
People typically lose 50 to 100 hairs a day. This usually isn't noticeable because new hair is growing in at the same time. Hair loss occurs when new hair doesn't replace the hair that has fallen out.

Hello everyone. If you're wondering why i'm talking about hair systems.... i made a rash decision by getting out of a hair system. the thing i warned ya'll against doing in earlier videos.
i acted impulsively. Within a few weeks, i'll have a new one. I'm sharing what i'm learning in my journey... not showing viewers a perfect person. ❤ Now i have the experience of shaving my head in a weak moment, and i can warn against that! haha! I'll still be using minox/fin to test out side effects for if i ever want to get a hair transplant!

I too had a hair system back in 1998 they were very different to the much improved systems of today. Like Jake I had a bit of a meltdown thinking everyone was looking at me, it felt so uncomfortable it was itchy the front line kept flicking up and it didn't match my own hair colour which was 40% grey. It cost over £2,500 then in the end I couldn't cope with it anymore so had them take it off and shave my head. I probably could have given it a bit more of a chance but to be honest I couldn't afford the upkeep of it. I am older and wiser now, and certainly ready for the new and improved hair system that is available now. As soon as lockdown is done I'm heading to Mike Ford in Bristol and getting my template done yehhhh!!

So I have Sicilian and German heritage, and I have thinner soft hair
my hair is darker salt and pepper on top, the sides, and a lighter at the base of my skull.
I have a busy lifestyle and can sweat a lot.
I have sensitive skin, and need a unit that breathes, but also has the darker, but also has a little bit of salt too so that it blends well with my natural color pattern
So, even though I'm of European descent, I don't want fine, soft hair on top, because when I had a full head of hair it drove me crazy with those little fine hairs blowing everywhere and touching my forhead, again, my skin is sensitive and that cause me to itch a lot. The only way that i could manage it was to use a heavy-hold gel, which I hated to, because I don't like the plastered look either lol.
    Full discloser:
As you mentioned before, this process has a steep learning curve, so any advice you might be willing to offer, I hold no liability against you, and never would. I just need advice for a good stepping off point. So, ANY suggestions would be greatly appreciated
So, I was hoping that you could steer me towards a hair system that you think would work best for me, and if possible suggest a supplier.
Also, since I have sensitive skin, can you recommend an adhesive for sensitive skin?
Again, I hold no liability against you,
I just need your help and advice please to get me in the right direction.
Thank you for your time and consideration🙏🙏🙏

Man I tried all types and bob was easy
    Nothing was natural to me
I had allergy to tapes, and glues and I had excellent different bases and hair and problem came to me. I did all I could. If you can do it
Man try. If you can do it go ahead. The types is right what you said. I was so involved that I learned how to cut the system and do all on my own. I learned how to cut my hair etc.
If I was you ? Stop shaving your hair to zero
Let grow to level 2 cut
Take your vit d, start finasteride topical and minoxidil, shampoo DTH and transplant at a great center. If you have loss at the front is easy to fix it. That is my opinion. I could not deal with hair system anymore. That is me in my world. Sorry.
All you said is right about hair system, but no long good to me. Now that my hair is growing I’m happy and thanks God. I’m very happy with my surgery.

What do u think about using hair clips to attach the hair systems for people who would like to remove their systems daily without the mess? My scalp had a bad reaction from using tape and glue and not being able to really clean under the system so really hoping clips would be a great alternative. These clips are supposed to be sewn in to your system and can be ordered from lordhair and hair direct. Thanks for your thoughts

      Here we go
      A long time wearer.
For years i used clips and tape combination.
Tape for front only,3 clips sewn in one on each side and one in back
Good news is easy clean up,no concerns if you sweat and good hold assuming you have enough bio hair to grab from
Bad news, hard to sleep with it on,best to remove nightly,
If someone touches your head you may have a problem explaining what they just felt
The last 7 years i have used tape or glue
There many tapes to try depending on your base type
No shine, red liner, blue or green lace etc
I have an all lace system which i remove most every night, easy clean up and i keep my scalp clean as well
Never understood why someone would keep a system on for 7- 10 days, not sanitary and smelly
      Hope this helps

      Glad to help
The clips were sewn in by the salon
They were french clips, not sure if they are still made but there are other clips available
Clips can not be sewn into the lace, must have p/u base
Clips can loosen up during the day and you have to tighten them up
In some cases they break and need to be relaced. You have to grab just enough hair, but not too much
Like anything there are pros and cons

    Jake,
    I will update my post.
All of things that Jake mentioned a brief overview of bases, hair types, etc.
In reality the decision to wear a hair system is less based on the details of how a system is constructed, and more on your needs, lifestyle and budget.
You can go to a professional, and talk about all of these things and be directed to the system that best suits you. Sometimes it's trial and error, and it takes time to find the right combination that works for you. Some folks have different systems for summer or winter (lace for summer, UTS for winter).
But it's good that Jakes shares his experiences, as it's good to learn from someone else's mistakes, and positive experiences.
