    Zero chance of me doing anything remotely like that in the foreseeable future but I'm liking the video anyway because the explanation was so clear and easy to follow

    That was a fantastic point of getting the folded feet dig into the centre below the ribs, and also why not to lean behind, every aspect joy mentioned, is verrrry important.
    Thanx stu for giving these break downs of difficult postures of primary series.

    Thank you so much for the explanation! And I loved the personal antidote about Mysore class, I have a similar one where my teacher was hard on me for my memorization he also trains somewhere near Morjim Goa too. Slowly getting addicted to Ashtanga practice.

    Thank you Purple Valley and Joey, for clarifying so many key techniques, especially the tips on how to embed the heels into the abdomen to provide room for twisting and moving the lower foot to deepen the pose are awesome. I can translate your videos into Chinese and add the original link?

    I find western practitioners are more orinted to achieve perfection through doing tough/complex asanas. I feel the end result can be achieved by doing simple twisting asanas. You have the advantage of being more in sports/physical exercises and therefore able to do complex asanas easily. Thanks for the explanation and demo of mareechi asana.

    • @dontask4990
      @dontask4990 5 лет назад

      Some western students in my yogaclass are more ambitious than others. It's not about achieving perfection but you have to do the asanas THE RIGHT WAY so you don't hurt yourself. We know that yoga isn't just about poses but there is nothing wrong with being ambitious and if you want to master some asanas.

    • @vara1499

      elle Pe Agree with you that yoga is more than the physical asanas. In fact great yogis don’t perform asanas as they have crossed that stage. Thanks for your reply.

    The big question is how does he manage to keep his stomach soft while twisting. For me the twist motion automatically causes the stomach muscles to stiffen and resist.
    Another question is how much the individual anatomy, especially proportion of thigh length to shin length affects this pose (in particular if having short thighs and long shins makes it impossible).

      Uddiyana Bandha

    • @clray123
      @clray123 5 лет назад

      elle Pe Uddiyana Bandha aka contraction of TA and obliques makes twisting more impossible, not less.

      I'm sure Joey has many years of experience of pranayama and bandha. You need to breathe deeply, use your core and Bandha in the same time to pull in the stomach and before twisting.
