it’s a gorgeous skin, but i really hate the way the dev team chooses golden gun color regions. the skin weapons that need to be dipped in gold (atlantic mercy staff) aren’t but the skins that don’t need to be dipped in gold (this new skins staff) are.
I think it's bland af. All of her new skins are so boring. She looks awkward and uncomfortable 😭.

It's not her worst skin by far, but most the others were basically "free" as in you earned them eventually opening boxes. There is a difference imo. For the price they ask the of about $20 for a skin it better be the best skin you've ever seen on a hero you main. Never mind even then being the game is in 3rd person you'd barely ever see it. Especially with how rarely Mercy gets PoTG.
Why is that if you don't mind me asking? I absolutely love the bundle and skin.
@@sp6rkling Personal preference, really. I don't like the metallic Christmas colors or green hair. Mercy has 4 Lunar New Year skins, plus battle pass Miko and I like them all better. I just don't see myself investing $19 on a skin I wouldn't use.

The staff end is so big and clunky, it blocks my vision.

The damage boost icon on the staff changes depending on the skin, The OW2 skin shows a bolt while this shows fire
One thing I really don't understand is this skin cost about 2 times as much as the Battle Pass right? In a BP you get a handful of skins in addition to the Mythic. Call me crazy but for the price they charge for legendary these days it should be of the quality of a mythic skin if not better. After all it's at least twice the price.

I like the top half, nice helmet and I think this skin shows the mist skin in Ow with that crop top style. Not a fan of the lower half though, the green on the legs feels wrong some how. The price also as insane as always lately. $21 or like 9 months if grinding the weekly challenges lol.
I feel like the upper part is extra and the lower part just some random stuff added in idk tho
@@j23ks1-91 They really don't seem to match that is for sure. The bottom almost looks like some kind of scaled legs of what supposed to be a mermaid/snake/dragon thing. While the upper body is just some warrior bikini mail. The colors don't seem to go together either.
It’s a Thai traditional style outfit. Look it up sometimes they don’t match it’s supposed to be like that in our culture

Eley that first game you kicked so much ass. I loved all of your movements and I watched that there was some mistakes I know I would have made that you didn't so it's always nice to do comparisons because they are helping me to improve. The skin is lovely although idk.. something about the gold feels overdone but that's prob because I wear a golden weapon all the time.
Either way, I really loved the first match. Kept me invested the whole time.

I actually… despise the new skin. I have all of Mercy’s skins, including rare ones like Pink, but this one is just poorly designed. It’s also very strange they’re putting a cultural skin on a Germanic/white hero.

The cultural part is not the issue. No one has issue with Greek culture being put on Egyptian or Australian or Nepalese heroes in Overwatch or a Japanese hero dressed as a European knight etc. You’re just having selective outrage. They put different heroes from different cultures into different cultural skins all the time. It’s appreciation.
@ketsuekipen The issue is when she starts to overshadow the actual Asian characters in the game that should be getting the skins. If it's to appreciate their culture , then why not give it to the characters that actually belong to said culture? It isn't an issue if it happens once or twice or in a handful of skins, but when it's always the same character and she starts stealing the spotlight, it becomes an issue
Though the only reason she's getting so many new skins is because she's an easy cash grab for bliz

Mercy got this skin because she won a poll in Thailand for Thai OW players to pick who they wanted to get skins with their culture and they picked Mercy and Genji. Then a Thai Dev pitched the specific concepts to the artists and worked alongside them to design the skin. The fact that your mind can't process that there are real players of these cultures who might want to see their favorite heroes in their cultural garb/mythos is mind boggling tbh. Mercy is one of the most popular heroes in Asia so of course there are going to be a lot of ideas to appeal to those many players. Imagine being a Thai Mercy main and seeing this skin. Your favorite hero in a design from your culture. The world revolves around more than just us. The artists even said that because of this process of making Mercy and Genji's skins it created an interest for more Thai cultural representation amongst the Devs and eventually led to Lifeweaver being created. You're turning something cool into an issue when it doesn't need to be at all.
@@SirenRyan Thank you. Finally someone actually pointed this out. So many people kept also saying that they should've scrapped mercy's thai-inspired skin and made it for Lifeweaver instead, which I do understand, but I don't think they understand the time that gets put into making a whole skin for characters in a game. Of course, they could have made perhaps a epic skin with little adjustments for lifeweaver. Thai new year is also around the corner so we could sit down and wait to see whether they give us something for him as well.

You know i'm kind of disappointed that skins that are $19-21 come with basically nothing aside from the skin itself, or an icon and a single spray
They can't even be bothered to add new voice lines or sound affects a lot of the time and its annoying
year of the dragon and a thai themed skin. we literally have 2 dragon brothers and a thai hero and they give the skin to mercy

@@outlawrue8548 i literally don’t care who made it. mercy has been getting all the skins bc her players are pay pigs. almost every other hero is being neglected. soujourn and lifeweaver barely have anything. it’s the year of the dragon and we didn’t get anything for genji or hanzo. there was so much creative liberty and potential to create beautiful skins this year but they scrap it for profit. this is the problem with overwatch. they’ve become increasingly more and more profit driven. the skins aren’t the only problem. look at pve

She's second most popular character in thailand, first being Genji so he got divine monkey skin, it makes sense she got it since it's also based on a kinnari, half human half bird, there are more thai skins in development.

the skin is beautiful and i love mercy, i want all of ther skins, but it's the 6th asian skin on a white character. ppl can do whatever they want with their money but i highly suggest not to buy it. it's riddiculous that asian heros can't get any asian skins but a swiss white hero is being used as a money-grabber. buying it means supporting this kind of behaviour, so yea.. pretty but it's a nope. im sorry for the ppl who worked hard on the skin bc again, it's gorgeous, but we want asian skins for asian heros.

Honestly, I do agree. There will alway be another Lunar New Year so hopefully by then we get an asian skin for another asian character. I bought the skin since the person who designed it was also Thai and pitched the idea.

the thai design tech, Takki, who made lifeweaver also made this skin, i think we should support thai representation and his artistry on this skin, i bought it and will gladly wear it in matches.

I do get your point but I feel as though there isn't too much of a problem with her having it considering she won second in the poll for most popular in Thai Polls. Plus, the skin and the bundle is lovely which is why i bought it instantly haha. I do agree that one of the shimadas should have gotten a dragon based skin though, or even Lifeweaver. Maybe blizz will surprise us and give us a skin for LW in time for Thai new year.
@@sp6rkling i think that is used as a moot point to justify getting easy money. i know the poll was often brought up but!! blizzard has never once said that the winner of the poll will get a skin. plus, the poll had a very limited selection of heros and happened more than 2 years ago. its probably the same reason kiriko is getting yet another skin this season despite getting skins every season. but i digress, it is “just pixels” i suppose.
The skin is cool but I feel like a genshin character. I’m also confused why the most expensive bundle only has 3 things compared to the others that have 5. I just really wanted an icon with the skin 😭. It would have been nice if the staff wasn’t so gold and the wings weren’t yellow but oh well. The staff makes me think of a shell or buttplug or those dog toys but the spinning animation is cool.

The skin is supposed to represent à swan but all I see of a swan are the little wing on her hips but it's not her actual wings 😮💨

Her hair is short because if you search up culture Thai clothing, they style their hair in that fashion along with the ornament at the top of their head. They definitely could have made it 'beautiful' but you have the remember that they're based off of different cultures. It actually IS representing a swan, believe it or not. The swan they based Mercy off of is not the Swan westerners are used to but the Swan in Thai literature. Maybe to you and minority don't like this skin but it feels quite rude to not at least search up the culture that the skin is based off of.
I searched, but just puting little wings on her waist doesn't make her a swan, swan western or not I see nothing of a swan here, they could have done better.
For the hair I didn't find any so thank to tell me, but the green color for her hair is still a bad choice.
The skin could have been way more better, based on the Thai culture and for 1900 coin again this skin is not worth it (just 1000 would have been enough)

I've had people call it ugly because of the hair despite it being apart of how you are supposed to wear it with the ornaments, in terms of designing the skin, they definitely could have done better. However, I do see the swan inspiration that they used from Thai Literature. Miko on the other hand I can not stand because it has too many things going on the outfit which I do not like. Anything that has to do with my culture, I will appreciate the effort that ha been put into it considering she was very popular in Thailand and created by some who was Thai. Zhuque is another skin that is very well done for something that is simple but not too much to look at. Again, we all have different tastes in design so that is fine, I only wanted to educate you on what was and how it has Thai inspiration in the design itself.

I think its a kind of ugly skin personally, I would also like to note that this skin could of gone to ANY other asian character whom most haven't received any skins that centered around their own culture. I really think we should think about why blizzard keeps giving Mercy these skins, because we as a community enable them by buying these skins!
