My friend, your video has helped me a lot!
A big thank you🙏
I was struggling with the rear light connector on a '05 Porsche Boxster. I imported it from Japan, and had to switch the rear fog light over to the drivers side.
Same connector pin, even had the Benz logo on it!
So it works on Porsche as well!
Funny thing is my daily is a w204, so this video will probably help me out in the future as well.
Thanks a lot!👍
Thank you for the feedback,
Glad I could help out!
Jus did this now on my right side took me too long on that de pin I had some come out and jus cut the wires that were being stubborn lol so it’s different lengths oh well works! And looks brighter! I had to also crimp the some plugins as one dealership had the wire connected and other jus had the silver top piece
Glad it worked out, you can also check if there is a recall on your model, you can take it in and they will fix any errors and potentially fix whatever causes it to burn up in the first place.
Ty very great and helpful video... I replace both side and just replace the brown mass cables withe a crimptool or crimper... But why does this happen how to fix the mass problem... The trick with the needles is gold
Glad I could help!
I forgot what the exact cause was, but you can also take it to the dealership, there should be a recall on the module and they will correct any other issues to prevent it from happening again.
Don't know if it carries over, but the W203 model has this issue and it's because of inadequate ground wire which overheats and eventually burns through the connector/board. I managed to find a replacement at the junkyard and going to fix mine soon.
Doing a direct replacement apparently won't fix the issue forever though, because it's the same inadequate ground (brown) wire. I've read that the real permanent fix is to screw a thicker ground wire directly from the board to the frame of the car. It sucks that the consumer has to fix sloppy German engineering but it is what it is.
hello, what's the name of the white wire and where did you buy it. Also, I am having a hard time removing the connector. Can I just force it out. It only has one plastic tab. the other one is broken. Thanks much.
If the connector is burnt into the light unit, you can force it out but you will mostly likely have to replace the light unit also like I did.

I got the white ones from the dealer and they cost about 20 a piece.
The wiring pins you got from Mercedes , what's that called?
Not entirely sure but, if you go to the dealership they will pull up the part number and name. Just ask for a tail light harness.
It’s also 10x cheaper on Amazon, I believe I paid 15 for each wire at the time from Mercedes.

Hi! Great video, thanks! I bought the part and it came with the cables in a different color code, do you know if there's a problem with using them in the same position even they are not the same color code?
i think you should fine, just make sure the same position the wires come off is the same position you put them on.
Do you have to go disconnect the battery, or wait till all electrics go off?
It’s best to disconnect the battery, but I didn’t have any problems with leaving it connected.
@@BOSSMARTIN just I know some cars go crazy after disconnecting the battery. I rather not if you didn't had problems. 😊
