    Thank you for the tutorial! it's very easy to follow.
    However, this makes a left-handed helix! The double stranded DNA structure in reality is a right-handed helix, so the twist should be reversed :)

      bud all you have to do is flip your result lengthwise lol

    • @oremia
      @oremia 4 года назад +7

      @@nikolaos6083 This doesn't change the handedness of the final result.
      To make it right handed, you have to change the diagonal to opposite corners at 3:50

    If you can't twist it together like this guy did, the best thing to do is just start folding all the creases together. When you do this, it basically twists itself

    Hi sir, I really loved your video. I tried making it and was successful. I'm a genetics student and the model which came out is a left handed helix whereas DNA is a right handed helix. I tried in all possible ways to make a right handed helix using the steps you told in the video, but still I couldn't. Can you please help me to make a nice right handed DNA helix? I wanted to present it as a gift for my teacher.😊☺️

    • @SuperJill42
      @SuperJill42 Год назад

      To make a scientifically correct, right handed DNA helix, two things should be done differently than in the demo.
      1 - The process is the same up to the point of making the diagonal folds (at 3:43). When making the diagonal folds in each rectangle, instead of creating the folds from the bottom left to upper right, create the folds from the UPPER LEFT corner to the LOWER RIGHT corner.
      2 - Then (at 4:49) when folding the long edge at the top, instead of folding it away from you, fold it TOWARD you. And fold the long edge at the bottom AWAY from you.

    Nicely done! However, if we want to be structurally correct, the DNA should spiral clockwise, not counterclockwise as shown. I think simply flipping the diagonal creases would fix that? Besides that this is really good representation, it even manages to show the two differently sized gaps in the double helix!
