The original Granturismo is a hard act to follow because it's such a beautiful car (especially the original 2007 4.2 V8). They've done an amazing job with the MK2 tbh. It's a lovely looking car. Really like the interior too. It's not easy to follow such a wonderful design. Just look at Aston Martin with the DB9 and V8 Vantage. Probably the most beautiful cars in the last 20 years. The DB11 and new V8 Vantage aren't nearly as nice to look at. Maserati is to a degree, rediscovering what made them special but it's still a mixed bag. The MC20 is just a gorgeous mid engined sportscar and I don't like cars like that tbh. Seems like an amazing car to drive as well. Bit sad they're cancelling the Ghibli. The v8 Trofeo is really special and reminds me of an E39 M5. They should have canned the Quattroporte. The Folgore and Levante models also do nothing for me but I suppose that's what people want in today's world. Sporty SUV's.
This needed the 8k rpm from the mc20. I really like this, ticks all boxes for a dad sports car with the 2+2 layout, but I’m struggling with point of differentiation with my wife’s Grecale trofeo
Yes ! U will never ever hear that noise ever again ! Only if u have the previous model. A bit like Michael Jackson king of pop music. There will never b another king !!!
@@CompletecarIelet’s start with the v8 and exhaust like the previous model could of made the door handles flush with the car and kept the car the same length it’s not as long as previous one
@@press4258 - There's no way Maserati could keep the 4.7 V8 in the new Granturismo. Was an amazing sounding engine but it had its limitations performance wise and the emissions were utterly appalling. Far worse than the V12 in the 812 Superfast in fact. Almost as bad as a near 20 year old DB9. Supercharging or Turbocharging that 4.7 V8 would have made the emissions even worse. Fuel consumption was also dreadful and throwing forced induction at it would have made it even worse in this respect.
What a wasted review. You had maserati granturismo trofeo & didn't give us more than 2 seconds to listen to the noise to see how decent or good the noise is. I really hope other reviews ref the engine for longer than 2seconds to let people hear the engine noise. Maserati granturismo is bought mainly for the noise it makes besides it beauty & you wasted time talking half of the review about Folgore than give us more precious time & sound from the trofeo engine.
GT Sport (2nd gen) owner here. I believe the reason is simple: the noise of the new Maser is inexistent compared to the old GTs. You just can't compare them. Sadly, you no longer buy a Maser for its noise, but for its engineering, class and looks. Having sat in the back of a new one, I do not agree that this is a compromised 2+2. It is almost as roomier as the old version and makes it a proper GT. They failed the back end of the car: they have made it bulkier, almost chubby.
No sound impressions and transfer of the feeling to drive such an impressive car. That was a weak talk with tons of informations you can get everywhere.
I can imagine the new quattroporte will be as bad, the preview design looks bad and its gonna be electric.. and the new granturismo looks ok but the v6 disappointed me.
@@CompletecarIe I'm gonna miss the current quattroporte, and I beleive the gen will end at 2025. The v8 goes away at 2024. Wished I was born earlier to make more money for it.
@@CompletecarIe I believe this to be the case for a few reasons. Firstly, the price will be hard to justify for many. While the car appears appears to be great even among other big GTs and undercuts them in terms of pricing, the brand has made such a good job annihilating its own reputation over the last decade that most people will have trouble spending 200k on a Maserati. Let alone a V6-engined one. Then, as a continuation for the last GT, it's just not that impressive to the audience. What I mean by that is while it is a gorgeous car, it isn't drop-dead gorgeous in the same way the old one was back in the day. Which was a huge factor. Worse even, they went for a uniform facia accross the brand. Meaning its face is extremely similar to the MC20 (which doesn't sound bad), but also to the Grecale (And the grecale looks like a ford puma), which immediately cheapens it. The corporate face also stops it from distinguishing itself as a new, fresh product by being too similar to other offeringsp. Then, a "lowly" v6 (in spite of the fact that the nettuno is a great engine) in a gt will drive some of the audience away while the EV drivetrain specs are easily overshadowed by cars half the price or even a quarter of the price. All in all, it's a great car, but not great enough for people to get over the brand's self destruction over the last decade, the seeming inadequacy of the v6, the underwhelmingness of the EV drivetrain, the ford puma styling amd the lack of "wow-factor" that the old one had.
My God, what the hell did they do with the beautiful Timeless Masterpiece GT. Older one all day everyday. And they call this a upgrade LoL. More like downgrade from previous Masterpiece.
@@CompletecarIe they lack soul. They lack character. They are robotic in nature. I had a Tesla and hated it. Constant charging, looking for super chargers, planning longer drives around those stops. They have a place for sure but I am not a fan. Make all taxis, government cars, buses etc electric.
That car looks absolutely stunning. A really nice update on the original, keeping the best aspects and maintaining the understated elegance.
Couldn't agree more!
how did you get your hands on this car before anyone else on youtube? Nice review
Thanks! We work hard on these reviews!
Beautiful car, lovely car and a great review I do love Maseratis.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Maserati 🔱 👍
Hopefully they'll make a 'Challenge Stradale'.. Meaning zero backseat, roll cage.. Lower weight. And with the MC20 engine(630hp and 730nm) ✌️
That would be sweet!
One of the best looking, if not THE best looking car in the world.
You reckon?
🔱
It's beautiful, but the Older one is the True Masterpiece of Gran Turismo 🔱
The older one was a classic
This one is Replica Pininfarina 🤣🤣🤣. 1 Gen is the Masterpiece 🔱
No V8 no party! 🍸
Nevertheless a Trofeo would be a gem to own! 🔱
Very true!

Always had a weak spot for the Granturismo. The classic proportional lines and the engine sound was always the icing on the cake.

You’re right about Maserati rediscovering it’s specialness.
The Ghibli is an absolute piece of shit to drive. The engines are great and sound amazing but the gearbox is horrendous.
🔥🔥🔥
Thanks for watching!
So what is the difference between Modena & Trofeo when they have the same 3.0L V6 TT and price difference 50k €
The Modena has less equipment and less power, even though it does use the same core engine. The Trofeo is the sportiest model in the line-up.
@@CompletecarIe What less equipment? I thought the difference was only the tune downgrade.

It does!
How can you make this video without the sound of the car / coldstart + acceleration ?

Pricing would be better if they positioned it at 911 gts or SL63 levels. Really odd spot it sits right now
