Bron is definitely going to end of as Lord of the Crossing, not of High Garden. He was promised two castles, and the best way to give him that is to have two identical castles on either side of a toll bridge. There is no way he could manage the largest agricultural region, but he could do quite well demanding money to let people cross the river.

On Benjen and Coldhands- I think it's possible that it's just Benjens body, and it's some other old spirit warging into him. That would answer both George's "It's not Benjen :)" note and also Leaf's later words about him being very old.

Honestly I don't think Jon is oblivious in Dance, it's just that he is too occupied with a million different things and he views antagonizing the Nights Watch senior members as inevitable given his wildling agenda. They did not even act against him until Jon boldly defects to go off battle Ramsay, making it honestly kind of justified.

Maybe jon becomes more blind in the later books because of the work and pressure around being a commander. Easier to be perceptive when your mind is free.
Man i could just put Schwift on and listen for hours, especially when occasionally dunking on the show and seeing what could have been.

I'm re-reading the series in German after reading it in English! I actually think it's really good in German. And I'm learning so many useful phrases like "Fallgitter" and "einen Treueid ablegen" and "um Gnade flehen"

I really think this would be great as a semi-weekly, every 2 weeks sort of deal. That's 26 chapters/year, so you would still have several years worth of content, and you would get considerably more engagement, which is never a bad thing in the RUclips world.

I’ve been listening to the podcast version of this at work lately and I’ve had to stop myself from listening at home too because I knew I’d run out, so glad it’s back!!
Same, been binging them like crazy, my productivity has gone up a lot but I'm running out! Buts it's been so fun retaking the series, I've been listening and then watching the first episodes just to see all the details and it's been so great

I discovered this series in January and listened to every episode on Spotify just in time for this :)
One part that I thought the show did well (this may have been in the books as well, I don’t remember) was Sam fanboying about being in a location with such deep history as the Fist. Sam asks what the First Men were like. Edd being Edd says that they were stupid since smart people don’t go to places like this. Then Jon says that they were scared and running from something. And right afterwards, we hear the first blast of the horn to signal Qhorin’s arrival and Sam/Jon drop the exposition of 1, 2, and 3 horn blasts. Which pays off really well in the season 2 finale.

As soon as you mentioned Frodo I also noticed some similarities between Jon’s burned hand and Frodos wound from Weathertop. A reminder of the true evil that presents itself as residual pain from time to time.
The main reason I don't like the Benjen = Coldhands theory is Bran not recognizing him. Secondary is Leaf saying they killed him long ago. Authors notes in the margins of a manuscript are only a shade above fan speculation as evidence for something.
