    Always place the hand furthest from the handle, on the handle first, then the other hand over. This will act as more of a pulling motion activating more of the obliques.

    Scott, the owner of the gym I go to told me not to do these. She told me that this will tear my back. She told me to do russian twists instead. What's your thoughts about this?

    • @michailsavvoulidis2824
      @michailsavvoulidis2824 10 лет назад +1

      Ask the owner if she even finished any Gym Academy before she bought the gym please. Russian twists are much worse for your back. Still, I am making both of these exercises. To protect your back, is the way you will do your workout, as you have always to train your lower back after ab exercise! But I believe everyone can know when someone is damaging his back. If you feel like that, you make less kg or other exercise, or whoever you feel comfortable. The above comment, is personal opinion though, so do not take it for granted. But still in my 30's, following a simple rule and training for 15 years, I am still in perfect condition without ever having the slightest problem, nor older people that are careful too.
      Everything has a limit... is perfect! ;)

    • @kin1yon2yen
      @kin1yon2yen 10 лет назад

      Michail Savvoulidis Thank you for your answer! I will definitely tell this to her. I'm only 15 years old and she thinks that I'm doing exercises like these with too much weight. As she told me, I put the pin a few holes up, but then she was like "I don't even understand why you are doing this exercise. It will damage your back in this young age. Do russian twists instead."
      But I will defenitely tell her this and try to make this exercise an execise I can do without getting stared at ;)
      (Sorry for my bad english)

    Don't do this exercise if you want a thin looking waist. Building up your obliques only pushing the layer of fat on them further out, making your love handles look even worse. Your fat is always going to be covering your obliques, so by making your obliques bigger, your love handles will look fatter. Trust me, look it up yourself. I'm just trying to save you guys from looking worse for no reason

    • @ANeonTiger
      @ANeonTiger 10 лет назад +4

      Sounds like broscience. Scott's obliques look good. You want some definition there by building some muscle. Other wise you'll have no obliques.

    • @rustyshackleford4743
      @rustyshackleford4743 10 лет назад

      ANeonTiger i guess it could sound like broscience, but it's not. If you don't believe me when you find out for yourself after some time. And yea, you can define them if you do very light weight and you already have very low body fat percentage to begin with.

    Question, so his left foot is in front, and rotates from right to left.
    Does this target the left side of the obliques "mostly"??
    Then switch sides, and do left to right and target the right?
    I'm asking because the right side of my core (obliques) are a bit smaller than the left.
    And want some correct targeting hypertrophy, to get a better symmetrical look.

    If I do this with fat over obliques will not help the love handles appear smaller or will it make them bigger !

    • @scorch775
      @scorch775 7 лет назад +1

      Colin Parks make them bigger
      You're just building muscle
      Loosing love handles comes from nutrition handling. You'll never loose your love handles by working out
      You loose them by eating right and training properly working in tangent

    • @Dusty2455433
      @Dusty2455433 7 лет назад

      The guys who replied above me are right.
      You can't spot-reduce fat on the body, you simply have to lower your body fat with your diet and burning calories.
      Good luck!

    • @xpinchx
      @xpinchx 7 лет назад

      It will make them look bigger if you're building muscle under fat. My love handles are the last spot I lose fat from so unless I'm super lean the muscle like pushes the fat out further. You can tell it's mostly muscle but it certainly doesn't make it look smaller. Hope that helps.

    When I do these I feel like my hands aren't in the right place and it feels like I'm doing them wrong. Where should your hands be when you extend out, like parallel to your chest?

    the way you exercise or the exercises you choose all depend on your goals ... if you are training for body building competitions, mass strength ... general tone or just to stay healthy will determine the way you train!!! why all this fighting over one exercise ... the guy is just teaching us one exercise for obliques ... if you do not like it or feel its not good for you fine ... but it does not make it a bad exercise ... bottom line .... what works for one person might not be suitable for another ... you just have to find what is good for you based on your body type and goals ... and that comes with practice!!!

    You can't target fat loss. You lose it all over. Muscle feeds on fat. So build muscle everywhere and you'll see the fat start to melt away. Also you should do HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training). Do not waste your time doing long grueling cardio.

    wrong again bob, math is a universal language, english is local. and Vegeta can't go SSJ5, so that is also wrong, and there are only 2 versions of vegeta, normal vegeta and the majin vegeta. so you lose twice. I'M THE BEST

    I 100% recommend this exercise! It’s helping lose the tyre around my belly… and fast! This is one of the CORE exercises that I do every time I go to the gym!

    I love this exercise. I definitely feel a difference when I do these. But, I feel like the twisting motions is literally wringing out my insides. Any air in my stomach is squeezed out in little burps, which I have to pause to let out. Last night, I tried to just push through that, but I ended up throwing up a little bit in my mouth halfway through my set... I'm very careful when I do these to keep a proper form and not try to twist too far. The weight I'm currently doing lets me do about 25 reps on each side per set. I usually don't drink anything between sets of this exercise now for fear of throwing up.
    I must be doing something wrong..?

      +Theflyinhawaiian2000 Seems like 25 reps is a high number, you may want to try more weight and less reps, like 10-12 reps. Do them slowly, too; not only is it a better workout, but I think it might give time to your "inners" to get into place instead of getting stuck and twisted during the motion.

    Why do you recommend twisting your neck each rep (by actively keeping your head fixed in space, looking forward, while the torso twists)? Why not keep the neck relaxed, passively following the torso as it twists?
