But till then, pls know I'm aware of the mistakes and will do my best to correct them moving forward. Ok bye for now take care :]
gonna go through this video and comment on all the things i noticed 0:37 huh, 1300? either this was done on xbox or you've been working on this video for a long time 1:18 truly an incredible display of skill 1:25 i like how the screenshot is of failing the jump. also nvm, i can tell from the wall patterns that this is switch, not xbox 1:32 well ackshualy 4a is possible dashless too, but only in assist mode 1:43 "untouched" um... there's an entire community for minimum dashes. 28 people have worked on just the TASes alone 1:57 this is not a spikejump. generally, a spikejump is defined as any jump in which the initial jump input is performed while madeline's hitbox is in the hitbox of a spike, or is supposed to be in the hitbox of a spike (such as a spiked ceiling pop). for TASers, a spikejump has the same definition, except madeline must not have speed in the direction in which the spike is pointing 2:17 you can grab at any position on a wall, but if you're above a certain distance from the top, you'll be pulled downwards while grabbing 3:18 if you press left or right, the game will act as if you're pressing in the direction away from the wall for the next 11 frames (dashes are not affected). also, the captions desync from the video at around this time 3:53 it's not that simple. the reason it's so precise is that you need to be at a specific x position. grabbing a wall cancels all of your horizontal speed, and grabbing takes priority over walljumps, so you can't grab a wall and walljump on the same frame. however, you can grab from 1 pixel away from the wall, and walljump from up to 2 pixels away from the wall. so if you're exactly 2 pixels away, you can climbjump (grab+jump) and not have your momentum canceled. you also get an extra 40 pixels/second of speed from the climbjump (this is called a cornerboost). this only applies while moving down though, since you can't grab while moving down, but you can still climbjump 4:26 that's not true. the spike hitbox extends to the bottom of the wall. it's just that if you have speed in the direction a spike is pointing, it won't kill you. 4:46 oh, if you think _that's_ stupid, you're gonna be shocked when you see what minimum dash TASers have done 5:10 yet more proof that it's actually impossible to consistently tell right from left 5:25 damn, just skipping right to the end of the 5 stages of grief 6:00 this part was done in 50% speed using assist mode. while it might seem like a good way to do strats that are too hard at full speed, it isn't. because you have twice as many physics calculations, everything changes slightly, making some things possible and others impossible. so it's not an accurate way to tell what's possible at full speed 6:34 they're called dreamblocks. dash blocks are blocks you break by dashing into them 7:36 this is one of those cases where 50% speed changes the physics significantly. this jump is possible without it, but it's made much easier because of the different number of physics calculations (and obviously because of it being at half speed lol) 8:09 oh, you already knew about that. uh, disregard what i said earlier, i guess. also, that tas is a bit outdated, but the most recent video of it is unlisted and yt doesn't like links 8:24 the crouch was done from the ground, since you can only start crouching while on the ground. it lets her get that far because she just has enough speed 8:32 this is actually pretty normal. the first jump was done while moving away from the spikes, and the second one was done the same way as in the 2nd room of chasm in 1a; madeline's hitbox for tile collision is touching the wall, but her hitbox for spike collision, which is 2 pixels shorter, isn't 8:58 it's humanly possible. it was done by euniversecat like 3 years ago (nvm i remembered wrong lol, she didn't do it rta. i'm working on it though) 9:27 oh, no photosensitive mode. you should have that on, at least while recording 11:20 i believe this requires pressing jump for only 2 frames so that you don't hit the ceiling. or you could just jump through the dreamblock 11:24 you can do another jump across 6 spikes to get the top center one (also nice captions) 11:50 doing two jumps there is unnecessary, you can just do one. you have plenty of height for that okay, that's the whole video. that took like... 50 minutes. oh well if you wanna talk about this my discord is on my about page
Supportive comment Really, this was pretty amazing, despite the spots that forced you to dash. The creativity that is required for some of this can be astounding!
@@EveCitrus this video also kicked of a chain reaction of me tryna do other levels with the least amount of dashes, and ones i had that done i made a map myself involving lots of spikejumps (its on my channel if u wanna see it)
2:30 the reason for this is actually that Madeline CAN grab onto walls as low as her feet, but she will be slowly shifted down after grabbing them so that her hands will actually appear to touch the wall. so, if you grab a wall at your feet and then jump before being shifted down, you can do the climb jump from a few pixels higher than normal
This video was really well made and engaging. The only minor thing I missed was during the counting of the dashes it would have been nice to have a counter going up with each dash. Not necessary, just would have been a neat finishing touch as that feels like it's the climax of the video. I will be watching the series and i'll probably check out some of your other stuff too. Overall just a great video
thank you! And yeah, a few people mentioned this and it's a rly good point. I scraped it initially cause my editing was just not at the level where i knew how to do that, but next time I do one of these that'll ceartainly be there.
it makes me really happy to see this challenge actually being done online. I tried it myself a while ago, and I think I made it to the summit (chapter, not the summit itself) before I lost the file keeping track of my dashes (oops). can't wait to see more videos from you.
Just finished the base game a few days ago, now on Chapter 9, and seeing content like this is honestly really impressive. It really makes me appreciate just how open the game is for all types of players, though I myself couldn't do any of what you did lol but great video !
almost all tech in this game is intentional (either was programmed in or found by release and made better to use in the level) only a few weren't known (and nothing has been patched out to my knowledge) chapter 3 is a cycle nightmare so i'm excited to see how you tackle that.

Bro this is amazing. Your editing and video format is soooo goood you deserve so many more subscribers. It’s all so easy to follow and I even was able to pull off the tricks myself with your simple but effective teaching. Thank you so so much :D
11:26 This room. Is. Pain. As far as I know, at the very least the top left keycoin is possible. The top one is MAYBE doable, but likely frame perfect. Basically, using the spiked platform floating underneath the middle-left keycoin, you can jump to the side of the dream block itself. Then, from the top of that, you can just barely jump to the platform that the keycoin is on. As for the top one, get ready. It starts off similar, with you getting onto the left wall of the dream block. From there, though, you need to perform a spike jump to reach the right wall. Then, you have to grab the hanging stalactite directly to the right of the keycoin. Then, maybe potentially, I'm not entirely sure, there MIGHT BE a setup that allows you to jump from that wall and get the keycoin without winding up dead on the spikes below. Like I said, pain incarnate.
I appreciate that you put closed captions on the video, but they are very different from what I'm hearing in a lot of places, which is super distracting.
aw shoot, my bad. i'll fix that up I originally just grapped the captions from my script, and forgot that i'd written a bunch of notes in it and stuff that didn't make the final video. I used youtubes auto-captioning in the chapter 3 vid, and that seems to work out so i'll try the same here! thanks for pointing that out
10:20 I just jumped to the wall above the key, and waited for badeline. Then when she came I collected the key and went to the platform. It's pretty easy to do. 11:18 You can grab the little spike platform, and then jump onto the dash block. You can then climb onto the top and do a neutral jump and jump to the upper right key.
I dont know if you knew this but, you can jump out of Dream blocks for extra distance which could of reduced the amount of dashes in chapter 2! This is called a dream jump (Im mostly refering to 11:07, yes even diagnols work to get up there)
I did know that! I wasn't able to find any dream jumps that saved jumps tho. Good thinking on the diagonal jump, but there is another a way to get past that without dashing that i'm gonna cover next video
2:56 - I don't know if somone was commented this already (I'm almost sure that it was), but this was a neutral jump. Since you don't hold any directions (Aka.: Neutral input), this jump was called as neutral jump, at least for what I've heard until now XD
I probably am an idiot because of doing the momentum thingy on the set at 4:00, I did it without it and probably died like 1k times, ironically I think I used the momentum from a normal jump to clear it, just from a normal wall jump instead
i'm sure ur not an idiot, that jump is rly tricky and it took me a while before I realized the momentum thingy. And do you mean you did a wall jump similar to the one from the first segment?
Really interesting video! I wonder how different it would be in a few years time when new strats develop, maybe people will find a way to skip certain dream blocks without dashing, or find easier setups
as has been pointed out, what you called a “spike jump” is generally referred to as a 5 jump also some more tech names, cause why not the jump at 4:38 is called a cornerkick the jump at 8:32 is called a cornerjump (i think) also nitpick but at 7:31 you only really need to do 1 great editing though, keep it up
thank you! and yeah, it is indeed not a spike jump, but i didn't know it was actually called a 5 jump :0 that's pretty interesting. the next video should be out soon and it'll address that and a few other things as well
gotta say both this video as well as the follow up are great videos. Honestly your video production is top notch. The only thing potentially holding your videos back,( and I don't mean that in a way of like it's bad or anything, I just think it might not be optimal for gaining attention, again the video itself is great) is at least from what it feels to me your thumbnails. Again this isn't meant to be shaming or critic, but instead me trying to give some advice. You can feel free to ignore it if it doesn't interest you. 1. The Color of the text is a bit to bright as it doesn't stand out enough from the background. 2. Your thumbnail consists almost half of text. This can sometimes detract viewers, because it just feels like you have to read a lot(even though it is almost no text). One idea to fix this would be to reduce the size of the text and to add something like a dashing madeline that has a 🚫 symbol on top of it. Again, I think these videos are great, and I don't wanna be like, oh I am the know it all of RUclips, so this is not like the definitive advice to getting more views and stuff, but instead I wanted to state my opinion, and give my own advice on the matter.
yooo thank you so much! Ok yeah, it seems like a lot of good thumbnails are mostly images or you can get the idea from images alone, so i'll take that into account for next time. In terms of the text i v much agree, in the most recent vid i did add a black filler thingy to the text to make it "pop" a bit more, but still i reckon i could make it look more appealing. So yeah, next time I make a thumbnail, maybe i'll just try and make it so like. You know the idea of the vid just from looking at the images? Maybe like. a picture of madeline dashing with a cross over it (like u said) and text like "CELESTE no dashing" or something like that? But yeah, cheers for the advice. It was whipped up in photoshop with next to no graphic design skills so i'm always keen to learn, and i'm really glad u liked the video! cheers :D
hate to break it to you, but you didn't do it in that many. only 2 people have _ever_ done one of the dash saves in 2a. (i'm one of them), and both took thousands of attempts. well, at least without pause buffers.
8:29 im pretty sure this is a neutral cornercick (the thing u did on 1a to clear that one gap where u need 2 jumps). If u cornercick withput holding a direction, u can go back to the waal (same as the neutral jumps) and then u can spuke jump of the upper corner
Your description of the wall spike jump is not what I learned, I was told that it's because you have motion away from the spike, same reason you don't die when you go through a one way platform that has spikes This tech can also be used if you are fighting wind too strong and it pushed you into a spiked anything and you can jump off of it. You can even jump off spiked floor with down wind
I'm halfway through the video, and all I know is that I want to beat the game 100%, but im going to need to do multiple pixel perfect maneuvers because the deva expect you not to dash in chp1 to get the golden flying berry.

11:18 You can grab the little spike platform, and then jump onto the dash block. You can then climb onto the top and do a neutral jump and jump to the upper right key.
Awesome video!
Your humor is just the best
I dont know if you knew this but, you can jump out of Dream blocks for extra distance which could of reduced the amount of dashes in chapter 2! This is called a dream jump (Im mostly refering to 11:07, yes even diagnols work to get up there)
I did know that! I wasn't able to find any dream jumps that saved jumps tho. Good thinking on the diagonal jump, but there is another a way to get past that without dashing that i'm gonna cover next video
@@EveCitrus If you need it I have an video of me doing it
1:24 Did you speed up the “b-side complete” music for that? I don’t know how to feel about that, but I loved the video.
ye, but thank you!
2:56 - I don't know if somone was commented this already (I'm almost sure that it was), but this was a neutral jump. Since you don't hold any directions (Aka.: Neutral input), this jump was called as neutral jump, at least for what I've heard until now XD
Im just hearing about this game but i all ready like it
Wow
You are a pro at this game
Can't wait for more
I probably am an idiot because of doing the momentum thingy on the set at 4:00, I did it without it and probably died like 1k times, ironically I think I used the momentum from a normal jump to clear it, just from a normal wall jump instead
i'm sure ur not an idiot, that jump is rly tricky and it took me a while before I realized the momentum thingy. And do you mean you did a wall jump similar to the one from the first segment?
@@EveCitrus yup, I think I accidentally did a normal jump which gave me height then a spike jump with the lesser momentum that small jump gave me
you misspelt prologue and epilogue. also cool video!
Imagine a D-side with limited dashes
0-0 I know there's a level called 7D1D that's just Summit D-Side but with only 1 dash (so without badelines extra dash
people have been working on 9d mindash
very very slowly but they're doing it
Really interesting video! I wonder how different it would be in a few years time when new strats develop, maybe people will find a way to skip certain dream blocks without dashing, or find easier setups
That was incredible
Underrated
as has been pointed out, what you called a “spike jump” is generally referred to as a 5 jump
also some more tech names, cause why not
the jump at 4:38 is called a cornerkick
the jump at 8:32 is called a cornerjump (i think)
also nitpick but at 7:31 you only really need to do 1
great editing though, keep it up
thank you! and yeah, it is indeed not a spike jump, but i didn't know it was actually called a 5 jump :0 that's pretty interesting. the next video should be out soon and it'll address that and a few other things as well
@@EveCitrus glad to hear it! and yeah, it's called a 5 jump generally since it gives you enough distance to get past 5 blocks, like the jump in 1a

gotta say both this video as well as the follow up are great videos.
It was whipped up in photoshop with next to no graphic design skills so i'm always keen to learn, and i'm really glad u liked the video! cheers :D
Wow, I got new experience with fun
there are three (3) main mechanics in this game and people have beat it without all 3 of them
I did this challenge on my own as well, using slow mo I beat ch 2 in like 19 (I forget exactly) dashes (I counted and I matched the tas!)
hate to break it to you, but you didn't do it in that many. only 2 people have _ever_ done one of the dash saves in 2a. (i'm one of them), and both took thousands of attempts. well, at least without pause buffers.
@@RichConnerGMN I don’t remember, but no I did the tas numbers, using slow mo
HELLA UNDERRATED!!!
can’t wait for the wind to ruin your day
skill issue
nice vid
D:
I dunno what you were talking about, neutral walljumps are easy. I just started the game today and got it down, and I'm only using one hand.
amazing video!
The chapter one screenshot is painful
it's from me trying the final room for like 20 minutes
FUCK YEAH
8:29 im pretty sure this is a neutral cornercick (the thing u did on 1a to clear that one gap where u need 2 jumps). If u cornercick withput holding a direction, u can go back to the waal (same as the neutral jumps) and then u can spuke jump of the upper corner
Head to the left aaaaaand
Ah
First that's right not left second
Ah
Oh you've got to be kidding me
5:09 head to the where?
you should 100% do the winged golden deathless, its super fun
great video
I don't count dream block dashes as real dashes because it doesn't make your hair blue like a normal dash.
true, but you have to be dashing to get into them in the first place, so i'd consider it a dash still
It does make Madeline's hair blue while in the block, but AFTER the block, it turns red/pink (depending on the number of dashes you have).
5:02 not me thinking i turned down my volume lmao
I can't finish celeste even with infinite dashes :D (24k deaths on my save file)
excellent video
Your description of the wall spike jump is not what I learned, I was told that it's because you have motion away from the spike, same reason you don't die when you go through a one way platform that has spikes
This tech can also be used if you are fighting wind too strong and it pushed you into a spiked anything and you can jump off of it. You can even jump off spiked floor with down wind
In the room with the 5 keys and 1 dream block, its possible to use only 1 dash
This was so much fun to watch! GL with the other episodes if you're still planning on making them
This is much funnnnn
I'm halfway through the video, and all I know is that I want to beat the game 100%, but im going to need to do multiple pixel perfect maneuvers because the deva expect you not to dash in chp1 to get the golden flying berry.
