In this video I compare two absolute classics on the SNES. While both games look similar thanks to Mode 7, they are very different experiences from start to finish, pun intended.
The controls in "Super Mario Kart" are really weird; it always feels like I am drifting away in the opposite direction of where I want to go, like for example if I try to turn left then I feel like I am moving right, and the cars also slide _REALLY_ far to the side every time I make a turn.
I know what you mean, but for me it kind of recreates that feeling of opposite lock that you get when actually drifting. Really good video anyway. enjoyed it a lot.
Yes. Mario kart to snes had the worst controls. Also Mario kart double dash to gamecube had horrible controls and the N64 was pretty bad too, although when you get used to it its alright I guess.
Im with you here. Id pick Fzero between the too. I actually prefer playing retro games. For an old game it can really do its job by getting the adrenaline pumping. The music is somthing I can even enjoy while not playing the game.
F-Zero is by far the actual better playing single player game imo, but Mario Kart is obviously doing more on a technical level, and the two player means more people will pick it because they can have fun with their friends (plus Mario and chums will give it the popularity vote). For me, despite all the things Mario Kart does well, and there are so many of them, F-Zero is just the better game. It doesn't have some of the modes and stuff the Mario Kart has but what is does have is nigh-on flawless imo. I'd argue with anyone that F-Zero is actually the best racing game of the entire 16-bit generation (certain as a single player experience).
I prefer F-Zero. Smoother contols, kick-ass music, and a stronger sense of challenge. Super Mario Kart is charming, but the clunky controls and messy visuals (sometimes I can't tell the difference between obstacles and the floor itself) make it oddly difficult.
F -Zero beats ANY Mario Kart game! And yes I also play F -Zero GP legend and F-Zero GX by myself but it does not matter because in my opinion F-Zero is the best game in the UNIVERSE
I've been imagining a Mario Kart × F-Zero crossover type game for a while. I imagine it would take tons of elbow grease to make it work due to their differing play styles. Perhaps you could switch between the two styles, and balance them to make sure one isn't overpowered?

PS. I'd really prefer it if you didn't stretch SNES games beyond 4:3 when showing them. They should either be 4:3 or even 8:7 for perfect pixel mode, but anything else is just wrong and a bad choice on the part of anyone trying to show footage of them. It quite simply makes the visuals/art look worse than they are, which isn't really fair on the talented artists that often put so much love and care into every pixel, and it doesn't do the SNES full justice either. Hopefully you'll fix that in newer videos.
Because I watch real life auto racing I quickly figured out F Zero is a futuristic version of Formula 1 so far ahead in future it makes Formula 1 look like horse racing in comparison.
Imagine Formula One going the direction of F-Zero and the next thing you know, there's floating roller coaster racetracks high above the ground. How many of F1's best drivers do you think would be up for that type of challenge? 😂😂😂😂😂

I can respect that. Wish Nintendo would make another one. One of my personal favorites besides the original is Fzero X for Nintendo 64.
If there's one thing F-Zero has always done better than Mario Kart is providing a real, unparalleled, sensation of speed.
