The First Ever Souls-Like Game
Просмотров 2,4 тыс.2 года назад
What if I told you the first ever Souls-like game was released on the Super Nintendo? You might think it's a joke but there are very compelling reasons why you can consider it a Souls-like game. 00:00 My introduction to Souls 01:15 Is Soul Blazer a Souls-Like? 01:38 A Brief Summary of Soul Blazer 03:40 Combat 05:10 Bosses 05:47 Areas in Soul Blazer 06:52 Minor Comparisons 07:24 Conclusion: Is S...
Street Fighter 2: SNES vs Sega Genesis
Просмотров 155 тыс.3 года назад
Following a brief history of the Street Fighter 2 arcade series, I compare the two ports of Street Fighter 2: Hyper Fighting that were released on the Super Nintendo and the Sega Genesis. Again just want to make it clear the Genesis recording only looks blurry because it is connected via composite cables while the SNES is using the HD Retrovision component cables.

Every series has to start somewhere, and Simcity's beginnings involve a Super Nintendo port which I explore in this video.
Pilotwings: More than a Tech Demo?
Просмотров 3024 года назад
Surprise Surprise, it's another mode 7 game. I take a look at Pilotwings on the SNES and discuss whether it's still worth playing today, or if it's just a tech demo that doesn't hold up. Also I didn't discuss the bonus sections at all but that's just because I didn't get to them at all during my play-through.
F-Zero vs. Super Mario Kart
Просмотров 2,4 тыс.4 года назад
In this video I compare two absolute classics on the SNES. While both games look similar thanks to Mode 7, they are very different experiences from start to finish, pun intended.
SNES looks so much better though
Graphics: SNES Non-music sound: SNES Music: Genesis Arcade-faithfulness: Genesis Gameplay: tie
For me the SNES version looked better but Genesis played better. Both were great. I also had the Amiga version which was dreadful.
The genesis version didn't sound as good as Snes version.
I hated that the SNES version's sounds were a bit off from the arcade.
There is a speed code on SF2T for the snes.
Totally disagree about the music Genesis music is much stronger and closer to the arcade on most of the tracks. SNES music was great but Genesis edged them out on this one
"Whelp, looks like blast processing has done it once again, ladies and gentlemen." Hilarious quote.
@@gregmottola8539 thank you 😂. Thanks for commenting!
10:20 -- Ryu was sick & fighting a cold that day.
Hahaha that's great
You forgot Hyper Anniversary Edition
@@vision821k4 Yeah, I kind of covered the arcade releases in the context of the 16 bit platforms. Thanks for commenting!
@@SerkTheTurk10 The video was fantastic by the way, I watched the whole entire thing through quite amused. What is your favorite version???
@@vision821k4 thank you so much! Super turbo definitely has more features. I also like hyper fighting a lot. SF3 third strike is my all time favorite though
🎃🎃🎃 This is such a fun watch! You’ve inspired me to revisit some classic NES spooky titles and make a list of my own for HALLOWEEN ❤❤❤❤
But the 6 BUTTON CONTROL is a HUGE DIFFERENCE. Plus, Sega Genesis started selling the 6-button controls right out the box short after SF and MK took off.
No wonder you like the SNES version audiovisually better if you play it with component cables and the Mega Drive version with composite cables...
4:00 Using footage where player 1's super meter has clearly been hacked to constantly remain full is such lazy editing. You can't perform back-to-back super moves in normal play, so why show that here?
@@elaynet382 This was in the training mode on Street Fighter 30th anniversary edition....
It's worth remembering that the Mega is hardware from 1988 and the SNES is hardware from 1990. So, it's obvious that the SNES had a better, more up-to-date set (although it opted for a slower CPU which I see as a mistake. Imagine what the SNES would be like with a Motorola 6800 CPU).
Nes, Sega sucks
The thing I liked about Super Street fighter 2 is the tournament mode. It was a great way to have a tournament with friends. I mean Fei Long was a great addition as well and I personally like the Sega Genesis better than the SNES.
@@gottired2 I've heard a lot about that tournament mode now. Sounds awesome!
I dunno, the genesis version always sounded muffed, and looked very washed out to me. And the game played was never responsive and fluid like like the SNES version.
I prefer the snes version as well.
Guy trying to compare 2 games using emulators… sorry, you’re a 🤡…
Seriously dude, you didnt know of the SNES turbo code???? (D, R, U, L, Y, B)????.
@@isaabdullahi9097 I know, right? I should be ashamed
If you have a flash cart, you should do a comparison of the SNES version to the SF2 Remastered ROM hack that fixes the audio issues with the Genesis version. Also, my personal opinion is that the Genesis OST is closer to the Arcade version 😊
I bought the Megadrive version the day it came out with 2 X 6 button pads. £90. I’d saved all my lawn mowing money for months.
I read a technical article many years ago about the Genesis's "Blast Processing". From what I understood it was simply a type of DMA "Direct Memory Access". Wikipedia says that DMA "Direct memory access is a feature of computer systems that allows certain hardware subsystems to access main system memory independently of the central processing unit. Without DMA, when the CPU is using programmed input/output, it is typically fully occupied for the entire duration of the read or write operation, and is thus unavailable to perform other work."
SNES had 10 stars as well. Needed a code for it.
Street Fighter 2 on SNES was probably the only time for me, that I didn't like the lay out of the buttons on the controller. Although having shoulder buttons wasn't an issue on the other SNES games, it was for me when I played Street Fighter as having to press the L on the same side as the D-Pad was weird for me. The only way I could describe this feeling would be for those who played Street Fighter Alpha 3 on PSOne. If you take the PSOne/PS2 controller, which had a similar albeit, much different layout as the SNES controller did, and removed the R2 button. You would have to press L1 for strong kick. That's what it felt like on SNES. Weird but manageable if you didn't change the default button configuration in the options menu. The 6 button controller on the Sega was much more comfortable and for that reason I chose the Sega ports over the SNES ports.
SEGA is forever
Man, they milked the shit out street fighter 2. It got boring and very repetitive. Then the street fighter alphas came out. I didn't like those at all. This is why MK trumps the SF franchise. There was zero innovation with SF.
I have both versions, i prefer the genesis version.
SNES > Genesis by far 😊
I had Genesis. Bought a cheap knockoff 6 button controller from the swap meet for this game. Only downside was the cord being real short. Couldn’t sit too far back. It worked great though.
SNES had a 8 star turbo mode by doing a cheat combination on player 2 control pad
everything was better on the snes the only thing that sega did better was blood code for mortal kombat
The Genesis version of Super SFII had a hyper mode, too. All 10 stars. I had Super SFII on Genesis as a kid, even cut out the coupon in the back of the manual for the 6 button arcade pad, which I still have. The best part about the Genesis versions is that you could take it with you if you had a Nomad, which came with the 6 button layout native.
13:00... lol, this is the easiest choice ever. SNES looks better, sounds insaaaaaaaaanly better, just has some minor slowdown. eg a knockout punch.
11:40... Wrong. SNES also had 10 star turbo, but you needed a code to unlock it. Its unplayable anyway.
I cant believe i was 8 years old when this game came out. I still remember putting my quarter above the controller to wait my turn to play against random people.
One thing that I loved and lost on new challengers, was the original announcer. Game play improved but to me with the new announcers the game always was missing that punch.
You used Super Street Fighter 2 pictures for the bosses LOL. Anyone who says the Genesis version is better is either high, drunk, & or a complete moron.
Wtf is that super nintendo? Ours didn't look like that
Why explaining the health bar?

Blast Processing 💪🏼
Thanks ❤🎉
There's absolutely no competition here.. snes wins hands down with Sf2
The American version of the SNES just looked🤢🤮😵too.🤦🏻♂️
Super S(J)erk (Off).
I had SF2 Turbo on Sega with 3 button controller and I was a monster with 3 buttons 😂
CPU cheats
"Light, Medium and Fierce". This is the first time I've heard someone combine the nomenclature of two distinct fighting series. You're combining the light and medium from the Vs games with "Fierce" from SF2. For the record it's: Jab, Strong, Fierce for punches, and Short, Forward, Roundhouse for kicks in Street Fighter. In the vs games it's just light, medium, heavy for both punches and kicks.
