He's self employed, so he has to cover maintenance, expenses, insurance, AND value his labour so that he has money to take home after paying his business bills in order to pay his home/life bills. As with everyone else - employed or self-employed - the bare minimum for that isn't what you expect to receive... so add on a little extra for luxuries. That's profit.
The fact that he doesn't charge for one job a week, thereby being a blessing to other people, says a lot about his character. The fact that he can make money from that good deed without it costing the receiver a single cent says even more. Very clever of him - and this channel would have taken some time to build up to the point of even generating income... and it's not for no effort either. Not only is the effort including the uncharged labour and time to DO the job, he then has to edit and prep the vid. He had to work on getting his channel noticed, etc. Being a youtuber isn't easy, and certainly not being a landscaper.
A workman is worthy of his wages. And a good deed is rewarded. At least he gets to sleep well at night, knowing he can be proud of the work he's put in.
If his regular work is with this much effort, then his business is going to just get better and better.

Yup, it takes years of neglect! Your work is totally awesome but is laziness reason to do such a massive job when others are really unable to do lawn care? I worked nights in an Emergency Room would come home and work, run errands etc. you don’t sleep 16 hours a day!! When I had a baby I did the yard work so my husband could come home and spend time with us, when pregnant with number 2, 3 months later I kept on, with 2 babies one would be with in a walker or playing in the yard while I carried the youngest. Mowed, edged, trimmed shrubs, swept and yard looked great, kids were with mom, they got outdoors a lot, they were fed, bathed and when dad came home he could be with us. That continued till kids could help.
It’s a shame that kids of mowing age no longer feel yard work isn’t a job or too hard or not enough pay or whatever like sitting playing video games.
I just wish those of you would put your hard and time consuming work in yard where occupants are really in need.
Neighbors must learn if they don’t take care of their neighborhoods they have no right to complain.

I started with the exterior and started digging up the sidewalks -- made of red brick from 100+ years before. I dug up entire pathways I never knew were there. It was something I was really proud of and took pictures... Parents opposed it because "it'll be harder to mow like that" and eventually it was revealed they never intended me to take the offer seriously so the effort was wasted... I’ve been in a lot of rentals, for instance, where there was a lot of land. We were farmers. People will rent to you and SAY they’ll do the mowing but then it doesn’t get done. A big area like this requires extremely expensive equipment, plus a TON of time, especially if it’s gotten mature.
If your lease says painting and pressure washing and siding repair are going to be done by the owners, you have no way to enforce that - same as other maintenance. Those agreements are just so the owners can specify what YOU have to do and then kick you out if it doesn’t get done.

My late mother was planting a garden and found a portion of sidewalk about six feet long that went under our house. I had always found it odd that we had what looked to be a side porch under our kitchen window.
Mom revealed it to be attached to the original part of the house and that our kitchen was in fact a log cabin that a bungalow style house had been built around and that the sidewalk went under my bedroom and the bathroom to what was a front porch.
Once again, thank you for what you do and for making a safe spot for their little one. Those Canadian thistles were just plain scary and i am sure the parents were heartsick.

I wasn’t sure I would ever see that sidewalk reveal, but since I subscribe to your channel, the old algorithm kicked in and brought up the new and edited version which included the sidewalk reveal. That was incredible and that was a LOT of sidewalk that was buried!! It seems to me that this young couple bought the house/yard already in that condition and just never got to a detail like digging for a sidewalk.
