    Since posting the lead time is listed at 6 weeks for the XL, which is quite an improvement in the last quarter

    What would be really cool is if you could specify a model for the waster tower. Those waste towers you had in your video would make pretty good traffic cones, themselves. Imagine having some model that you could print, where you don't care about the colors or the colors you are using for your main model work fine for the "waste model".

    I'd recommnd going with a satin sheen instead of PEI. It works great with both PLA and PETG and after two years of printer on my 3S+ and 4 it's still like new :)

      Thanks! Yes I have a satin sheet for the XL but I didn't film any B-roll of the PETG prints I did. (Though if I'm just printing a 1-off I'm frequently lazy and just spray some window cleaner on the PEI sheet as a release agent. I only do this if it's already a well used PEO sheet). On my Mk4 I keep the satin sheet on most of the time. On my Mk3 I'm mostly running PEI sheets.
      Thanks for watching and commenting on this video too!

    Great review. Can’t wait to get mine as well with the reduced waste and giant volume. Looking forward to your build on the enclosure! I’m going to be doing the same immediately.

      Thank you! I'm designing my enclosure now, and will upload printed parts and a bill of materials to Printables+ make a video. And there are already some enclosure designs on Printables that I'll probably borrow from design wise.
      Don't forget the golden rule of 3D printing - "try not to drop your printer down the stairs and if you do and it survives try to follow the assembly instructions" - J. Prusa (probably)

    Fantastic vid! With every video I’m still surprised that you don’t have multi-100k subs!

      Thank you, I really appreciate that! I'm a team of 1 and my day job keeps me too busy to upload more regularly. But my day job also pays for all these toys sooo seems fair enough to me.
      Thanks for watching!

    Great review, it seems like they've refined this 3D printer a lot since the first units sold last year. Unfortunately, they had to change the nozzle from 0.6 to 0.4 to eliminate stringing issues. The good thing about Prusa is that they will keep refining details, improving the firmware, and optimizing the slicer, therefore, Prusa is always a good investment.

      Thanks for watching and commenting! Yes unfortunately Prusa ultimately did a lot of beta testing through the folks who pre-ordered. I pre-ordered mine late (in Feb 2023) so the kinks had been ironed out

    Great video. Like how you started your review with the package drop test. Though unplanned, it does give me a bit of comfort when mine will be sent through the rigorous test of mishandling by shipping carriers. Thanks for sharing your mistakes so I don't have to repeat it... hopefully :)

    It would be cool if there was a discount for an enclosure for everyone who bought this, it is pretty silly to not include one. Regardless i can't wait to get one for myself.

    Pre-ordered one on the first hour the pre-order opened up, but never pulled the trigger, once it was available. Sounds like it might be safe to go back into the water now.

    I think you and Mellow Labs are going to have to fight over who gets to wear the yellow hoodie because it’s confusing the pants off me 😂

      Oh no and Mello Labs has worn it longer! I'll have to add an Ace logo

    2:33 The z-motor modules should be labeled or colored: left and right. I made the same mistake. So I unscrewed and swaped the arms (the motors are really the same).

      Yeah different colors at a minimum - glad you caught it before breaking something like me!

    " build an enclosure " ..
    Then be prepared with replacement toolhead parts printed in ABS /ASA... that PETG they use will not last long in a hot chamber.

    Nice video m8... but if I may to ask a question - can you measure how far apart are the XL legs? Random question to most of the people, but quite useful to me :D

    Congratulations for the new printer... I think this is an excellent and expensive new toy (printer). Many people in this field are collecting more and more printers for no valid reasons but just for the fun of it (me included :) ). My question to you: I saw purge blocks in your video, is it a requirement for this printer or just sample file, since the main reason behind having several heads is to save filament waste and reduce print costs over all?

    • @brisance
      @brisance 3 месяца назад +2

      Those are not purge blocks as the XL is a toolchanger and does not need to purge previous material in the nozzle. They are wipe towers and while not strictly necessary, they are used to stablize extruder pressure after idling on the nozzle seal. They are hollow and use very little material compared to a MMU setup.

    • @AsaMakes
      @AsaMakes  3 месяца назад

      Thanks for the correction I've been calling them purge blocks incorrectly on the XL

    I’m sorry…. Linear rail for 200? That’s some serious prusa tax 😂

    • @AsaMakes
      @AsaMakes  3 месяца назад +1

      I rounded up - looks like Prusa charges appropriately.
      Example SRS12-310LM(GK) THK linear bearing from MiSUMi is $137 before tax and shipping. This isn't the exact part but should be close
      From Prusa the part was $150 and shipping was another 20ish

    • @AsaMakes
      @AsaMakes  3 месяца назад

      And no sales tax / import tax from Prusa to my location at least
