3Gunner I live by here, this is a super dangerous area of the river. They say the current changes direction seven times while crossing. I’m surprised the coast guard didn’t meet them. I guess they save that boat for checking fishing licenses.
To anyone watching that hasn't seen this stretch of the river up close, the camera doesn't even come close to depicting what it's actually like. It's all of the same water that goes over both Niagara falls being channeled through a straight so small where you can throw a rock from America to Canada. Guys are nuts
During the high season, the “tourist flow” over the falls of 100,000 cubic feet per second (cfs) converts to 2,832 cubic metres per second (cms), meaning 2,832 tonnes of water per second is flowing over the falls. The “non-tourist flow” of 50,000 cfs converts to 1,416 cms, which means that 1,416 tonnes of water per second is flowing over the falls.
@@mjackdooley9053 I live close by on the Canadian side and am down that way often and that water is heavily patrolled. It’s literally a borderline of Canada and the US. Must of been an off day to not get noticed I guess if they did it illegally
@@mjackdooley9053. That is incorrect. The Whirlpool Jet Boats go right into the Whirlpool and actually criss cross it a couple times. Speaking from 4 years experience working on those boats.
These guys got bawls, people have fallen in and never returned, that water is deep cold and very dangerous, I wouldn’t want to stall or fall in with no life jacket, you”d be royally fucked, great video though!
You are lucky you made it up to the whirlpool. I've seen riders fall in the rapids on approach. At least you had the common sense not to challenge the rapids above the whirlpool!
@timcarps3664 . It's illegal to go any further South than the Whirlpool . I understand the confusion because it's UP stream. The Niagara River flows north, which is an oddity .
I have seen the awesome power of this water up close. Falling off that jet ski with no life jacket would result in certain death. These folks are lucky to be alive. The problem with cheating death is that death doesn't like to lose !!
. Speaking from experience, those P.F.D.s would do absolutely nothing for you once you entered the gorge, much less in the whirlpool. I don't know if it's true, but I've heard stories of the whirlpool swallowing jetskis that haven't been seen since. That's very deep water, and if the stories are true, the jetskis likely end up wedged under very large rocks deep beneath the surface. I'm stoked you had a great time and lived to share this video, but believe me when I say there is no P.D.F designed for this kind of water.
@@terrywallace2831. There is no P.D F. designed for water like this. A helmet wouldn't really be necessary because unlike most rapids, this river is very deep and the rapids are caused here be sheer volume of water as opposed to most rapids that are caused by relatively shallow water flowing over rocks. I can't stress enough how dangerous this area of the river is. These guy were very foolish to take jetskis north of the Devil's Hole.

You should ride over the falls next time
Somebody did that on a jet ski, but his parachute didn't open and he died...true story.
The power of that water is amazing
It truly is!
You are the great one, Wayne Jetski.
Hahaha thats a solid comment
Man those are compression rapids , you fall in there it can keep you under for weeks

Can you please tell me what are compression rapids?

You get it 🥳🥳🥳
Tell us your safety plan if you get separated from the jet ski. !
Buy a new jet ski.
Jus keep swimming jus keep swimming.....
That’s why there is a second rider every time
Is this legal or did you have to get special permission to go that far?
Probably illegal but no coast guard so maybe permission there is a boat tour that boats around there but it stays further from the whirlpool

We Always wear PFD’s
I'm noticing lot of comments on life jackets and I agree but wet suits do keep u afloat aswell but me I would want a crash helmet on aswell.
