“Peacemaker…what a joke.”
Such a great line.
He won that fight twice even though he died, basically.
It played into the show too
@@brandongainer9434 ya this movie really made me actually like Rick Flagg instead of him just being generic army man like in the first one
@@TheMonkeygoneape He's a hypocrite and he's in the wrong here.
Becomes even better when you realize Alan Moore originally intended for The Comedian to be Peacemaker in Watchmen
I hated that they finally did Rick Flag right...and then killed my boy like that.
No one kills Rick Flag; he’s the guy that humanizes the Squad
I hate that Rick died but i feel like he went out as a hero and it was a great sendoff to him
Same with captain boomerang
@@Periit8644 no the fuck it wasn't for boomerang, too early for an og to die as a decoy 😞
@@anthonyalvarez2037 I mean that he was one character who was good who died
I really like how Rick Flag’s words still stuck with Peacemaker in his own show
No it’s a sequel, they literally say that multiple times in the show? Did you even watch it? how can peacemaker have flashbacks to something that happened before he’s even done it? The series is set 5 months after the events of suicide squad 2, and it tells you this multiple times throughout.

I love that they made Rick Flag kind of the grounded Moral center of the team and then broke our hearts by killing him like this.
He's one of the least moral members of the suicide squad.
@@alphanerd7221Of the original shit movie maybe
In this movie he's definetly the moral center
@@carbinecryo30716 He's still a psycho government hitman working a program where people are coerced into doing illegal activity by putting bombs in their head. He isn't moral in the slightest. Ratcatcher II is the moral center. I don't know how you could miss that.
@@dannytallmage2409 I'm sorry what part of his deal in the movie is the betrayal
He wasn't even given all the details
Once he found out the details he wanted justice for the fucked up things the government did
The government is pretty unanimously not the good guys
@@dannytallmage2409 Well fuck me I guess experimenting on children is totally okay now whoops.
I like how the two are wearing bright colored shirts like cartoon characters, but the fight itself is brutal and gritty. Intentional on Gunn's part, I'm certain.
This part where Peacmaker is revealed to be a Bad Guy is the real payoff of the movie. The giant monster is just boring after this
@@worsethanhitlerpt.2539 I think it serves as a nice bit of genre-busting - The movie started out as a war movie parody, before taking a turn into a kaiju movie near the end. It also served to fulfill the heroes' arcs, particularly Bloodsport's.
@@PW7-202 I was highlighting the contrast between the characters' appearances and the violence. Had they went with a wardrobe akin to the first movie, it wouldn't feel as impactful.
@@peterfrank3365 oh that makes more sense
Yeah hun stick pretty close to the comics with these 2
This was the movie that made me look at John Cena as a great actor. That face he gives when he has to kill Rick Flag who was establish is someone he respects and is one of the catalysts that would lead to his growth in his show.
Cena and Batista are incredible actors from the wrestling background, love those guys
I legit think Cena is way better than the Rock in acting. The guy is much more emotional and doesn't need to act tough all the time to look badass.
@@ultrixsoma2736 Cena is in touch with his emotions way more because of how his character is in wrestling. Dwayne is always all about comedy or looking badass like his character in wrestling.
OH right, I almost forgot the actor is actual John China.
That look he gives Bloodsport when he catches him about to shoot Ratcatcher…..
Joel Kinnaman said that this scene really hurt because his character got bested by someone with a suit on that looks like he’s been hired for a child’s birthday party. 😂
Funny considering the fact He’s wearing a shirt with a cartoon rabbit or bunny on it LOL 🤣
And his basically did nothing for the entire film and achieved nothing pretty much
As much as I loved the rivalry between Peacemaker and Bloodsport, this fight was the highlight of the movie. A battle of philosophy that neither man was willing to compromise that could only result in a fight to the death.

@@andreimaxwell4455Shit, he didn't want to kill Flag either.
James Gunn himself said 3:49 - 3:55 was the exact moment that inspired him to write the series!!!
Damn man, compared to "The Rock", Cena's got great acting range! Loved this guy in this movie and in his show!
Cena doesn't take himself seriously, thats what makes him a great actor, The Rock is a little bit narcissistic all his characters have to be pure badasses.
That's cuz the Rock doesn't want to hurt his "good guy" image. It's in his contract that he cannot be the villain anymore
john cena and batista are better actor than the rock.
What's funny is that if you remember The Rock and several other wrestlers appeared on an episode of SNL back in the late 90's or maybe even 2000? and The Rock was the stand out among them for displaying comedic timing and charisma and a willingness to do stuff for the bit and not taking himself too series. Fast forward 20+ years and yeah, like you said, he's pretty much the same character in everything now, and Cena and Batista do more actual acting than he does. Like, what happened?
because, as the others above have said, Cena isn’t taking himself as seriously. Cena is fine being the bad guy in a film, Cena doesn’t need to have all his characters be the badass good guy hero that do the eyebrow raise and win every film. Cena isn’t just playing himself or playing the exact same character every film like the Rock is. The Rock can hardly act whereas Cena actually has a wide range in comparison.
Out of James Gunn’s entire directing career, this might be my favourite scene of his.
Huge w probs my fav cbm tied for it
Gunn was an absolute beast in this scene
2:17 the Mortal Kombat shot of the heart here is glorious
Skarlet fatality.
YAY he’s there now
this a death scene done right. the consequences of flags death are traumatizing and carry over into the peacemaker show. i’m so sick of modern comic book movies playing it safe, like the new ant-man movie. the suicide squad was awesome because it didnt care who died, if it enhanced the plot, they went with it.
Preach
That's why I prefer DC and when we had X men consequences >>>>> milking every character
Reminds me of last stand
Logan was still haunted in The Wolverine (2013) when he killed Jean grey…her death brought Logan a lot of impact.
Mcu is getting shitty now, look at Thor for example, he lost a lot of people and in the next film he seems fine…
Waititi did him dirty
Exactly. I was pretty fuckin pissed off that Captain Boomerang died so early on but as the movie went on along with the many times I rewatched it but I realized that the beach massacre + Boomerang’s death is what set the tone for the whole movie. During this fight scene, I genuinely did not know who was going to win because Peacemaker was kicking Flag’s ass and I let my guard down assuming everything was going to be okay once I saw Rick Flag get the upper hand.
What is safe about the new Ant-Man movie? It's morally ambiguous, recast a character, and is tonally different than the last two very successful Ant-Man movies.
Easily a top 3 DCEU film of the last decade for me personally. Loved the energy, the vibe, the characters. Miles ahead of the first Suicide Squad.
Best DC movie this century.

RIP Rick Flag 😢
Dumbest way for Peacemaker to kill a leader and member of task force: Suicide Squad
Fun fact: Rick Flag would be the posthumous overarching protagonist of the TV series Peacemaker, because thanks to him the story of that series was created, the death of Rick Flag definitely has a great impact on Peacemaker. Give like to this comment if you’re agree.
@@pablojosemoralesidrovo9636 I don't think you know what a 'posthumous overarching protagonist' is
@@extremetoast5723 What is really an overarching protagonist and an overarching antagonist? What I have understood about that is that overarching protagonist creates what happen to the main protagonist, and that overarching antagonist creates the conflict in the story, is the main reason why the main antagonist creates the plot, or the main reason why this villain is behind the plot.
Rick was choking Peacemaker with the tube with the objetive to kill him, he practically killed Flag for survive. If he hadn't, he would have died instead of Rick
In a situation like this, it's almost justified to kill, because everyone wants to live
@@danielhatake3317Rick flag had to kill peacemaker because he knows now that the mission has been compromised by the team, peacemaker was willing to kill all the squad members according to his philosophy.
this is why having James Gunn as ceo of dc will be insane because him having no plot armor for any character is great and you never know what your gonna expect
Did you watch the opening scene? What do you mean no plot armor
bro killed off almost every character shown in the teaser
The scene that made me respect Cena as an actor.
What’s crazy is that Flag was the hero and Peacemaker was the villain but when Flag started to get the upper hand with the pipe, you saw the evil side of Rick Flag for once. It makes it even worse when Peacemaker actually feels bad for killing him right afterwards
What was evil about that? Flag knew that Peacemaker won't stop, the only way to stop him was to kill him
I would show an evil side too if you just tried to kill me to cover up unethical experimentation. He isn't being evil, he is furious.
@alfredm.hitchcock8189 and rightfully so. Anyone with a conscience would be PISSED
Trying to kill the person that tries to kill you it’s self defense
The truly evil move would have been to keep the reach advantage and just bash his head in on the floor.

They will form another universe apart from MCU and DC
Peacemaker would defend and apologize for the communist chinese government... oh wait.
@Jose Galindo that begs the question does he have a head bomb or does Waller gotta get someone else to do the dirty work
Man, this fight was awesome. That helmet shot of the fight is amazing, and the fight itself is so raw and brutal. Shame about Flag dying, but at least it forwards the plot and affects Peacemaker psychologically later in his own show.
On an unrelated note, Thinker's death is my favorite gore death in the entire movie! Thinker isn't a character I particularly care about, but man, that death is brutal and amazing!
Fight between Peacemaker and Flag is a hell of awesome fight scene. How they both can really put up a fight.
this movie did the impossible, it makes Katana looks like an actually important character without her in the movie
Rick Flag's last words hit so hard..
Likely a turning point for Peace Maker, making him self reflect on a different level
0:38 the fight being reflected on the helmet is so f-ing cool
Damn even when Rick was trying to choke him, after stabbing him, the face peacemaker makes as if he just killed his brother. He never intended on killing him and when he realized he did it hit him. He put on this act of I’ll do anything but deep down he realized the cost of anything meant killing your brothers in arms. That’s not a price he really wants. He’s able to shoot at dead shot without remorse because deadshot to him was a criminal, outlaw against his country. But Rick wasn’t. Rick was a brother in arms tell him he was conflicted with right and wrong. Deep down peacemaker didn’t want that to happen.
2:10 honestly I was surprised this wasn’t part of a fatality or fatal blow in MK1.
havent seen this since it first came out and noticing peacemakers face when he realizes he's killed Rick Flag it tracks better as I thght he was more villainous in this scene but actually seems to hate what he's done in the moment which further justifies his solo show IMO
It isn’t the death that scares me, it’s the fact that they did a close-up of his heart being stabbed.
I thought Rick Flag was leading role, can't accept he just died like that
I know he could have stabbed Peacemaker with the knife he pulled out of himself at the beginning, but damn was this a great scene.
I wish they didn’t kill Rick Flag. He was one of the most honorable and heroic one of the team. He wanted to do the right thing but Waller forced him to follow orders he knew were wrong and he ended up getting killed for his good intentions. Hopefully, he’ll be alive much longer in the new DCEU by James Gunn.
He's not, and I think it's a good thing because it's such an important moment in peacemakers character, he thought of Flag as a hero and looked up to him yet he was the one who had to kill him for what he believed was the greater good but deep down he knows Rick was also right in what he did, he was just trying to people the same as himself but through opposing means
Also apparently peacemaker season 2's main antagonist will be Rick flag Sr who is his father and is trying to get revenge for peacemaker killing his son
If only Katana were here, she always had his back. She could have cut Peacemaker in half with one sword stroke just like mowing the lawn. It would be inadvisable to get killed by her, her sword traps the souls of its victims.
Such a slept on movie and scene because it wasn’t MARVEL. Such a same. Fantastic scene.
no it was slept on cus it released during August 2021 (covid was still somewhat big) and went straight to HBO max on release day. it should've been in theaters for atleast 1 month before going to HBO max, would've made more money

@@iamquirkless9264 This movie and all of WB movies from late 2020 to entire 2021 were released on HBO Max and theatres the same day. This was done by AT&T when they were the owner at that time.
Rick Flag actually acts more like his comic book self in this. He doesn’t just blindly follow orders if they’re evil
Where is KATANA? she was supposed to have his back.
In the original run of Suicide Squad, Rick Flagg fought Batman to a tie...they nearly killed each other. It's why he leads these missions and Waller talent scouted him. She found a Batman analog who does what he's been told, already working for the government, in the military. Waller is the real deal.
If only Katana had his back
His back? What about his heart?
I don’t think Flag really wanted to taste it.
Even though he killed flag, in the end, it was touching to see that peacemaker had respect for him.😢
It's interesting to look back at this after Peacemaker's show and see how haunted he was by it.
never thought john china would actually make me laugh as much as he made me when watching the peacemaker show. like goddamn that was great.
You can see in Peacemaker's eyes how the empathy gets back in his soul as he stabbs Rick and he starts to die.
Dude peacemaker is a real super soldier
Yeah bro straight up has inhumane strength. Flag did pretty good in the fight tho
The choice to show the glass piercing the heart is so visceral
I can't believe people saw this scene and didn't think this character (Peacemaker) was redeemable with a modicum of exposition.
Peacemaker is just as insane as the joker. At least the joker knows he’s crazy
Both Peacemaker and Amanda Waller were jerks in this movie. They both decided to kill Rick Flag for no reason. And Flag was right about Peacemaker: Peacemaker what a joke. First Boomerang and now Rick Flag
Peacemaker killed Flagg in self defense.
I love the detail of how towards the end of this scene, you can hear the sound of Bloodsport falling down
You can see that PeaceMaker regretted that. The shift in his tone and his face. He really did not want to kill him
Serves you right Thinker and Peacemaker, he may become a antihero in the show later on but in this movie Peacemaker is undoubtedly an evil supervillain
not a supervillain, a stooge, much more realistic, and with nothing to respect or admire even in a villainous way, like say, with Luthor, who is so over the top and "on his own" you have to admire how much he's willing to commit to his vision, but Peacemaker is just a soulless soldier in this.
peacemakers power makes him too overpowered
like how did rick flag even stand a chance to fight an invisible guy
If Flag kept swinging the pipe rather than mounting Peacemaker, he honestly would've won
“Holding a gun on me is pretty FUCKING personal”😂

God killing Rick Flag broke my heart he was one of my favorites in both suicide squad films😢 Glad they're bringing his dad in the creature commando shows
Remember children, while everyone else was looking to get time off their prison sentence Rick Flag was just clocking in for another monday.
I just love that Rick's death made him reconsider his “for peace i can kill men, women and children for peace" thing like in peacemaker he was ordered to kill the family who are a global threat to the world but he didn't he hesitated hands shaking first time not able to press the triger
This scene is honestly pretty instrumental for Chris' redemption arc. Also respect to James Gunn for actually allowing his characters to die unexpectedly instead of either keeping them alive in a very unrealistic way or just bringing them back later (looking at you, F&F).

I kinda always thought Cena was only gonna be good at Rom Coms it Bro Comedy’s but this movie and Peacemaker the show proved this man can act!!!
Watching this rn, and just realized that when Flag said "This could be our last drink Dubois." It really was for him
How I see it: Joel Kinnaman vs. John Cena
No offense but Cena was in a superior level of acting that Kinnaman, he was no Match for him.
It’s impressive how genuinely menacing Cena is in this sequence. You knew he was dangerous before, but the way he so easily flips and goes after Flag and Cleo with every intention of killing them really seals it in your mind.

People see Peacemaker as a twist bad guy but let's not forgot he was locked up for a reason, Waller is more to blame, she knew Peacemakers intentions and obviously she had him in the squad for the soul purpose of killing anyone on the team that disobeyed or had a change of heart which played out exactly here, you can hear it in his "FUCK" that he did not want to kill Chloe who he was seeing as a friend (you can even see this by him calling her by her real name) but due to how he's built had to. So well directed I love James Gunn every little bit has so much purpose.
This hurts to watch. One was a good man, and the other got his own tv show where he whines about Batman not killing.

This fight scene is so brutal, I love it.
Lots of Credit to John’s acting. Mainly because when I heard he was going into the film space I laughed at him and shrugged it off as another WWE with no acting talent looking for more publicity.
Now I look like a jackass and a total smooth brain. Not only was his acting in this film genuinely great, but he carried his own show remarkably well, and as I’ve learned more about the man I’ve come to deeply respect him both as a professional and a person.
