Tom! Awesome video! It only takes a couple meets before you become addicted like the rest of us! (Jacktown too) I wish we had it every month! I have 2 videos coming out on the meet, Monday's where I will restore some dollar tools and Wednesday where I will feature some nicer items... I think that Craftsman ratchet for $5 was a fantastic buy. Great stuff!!!!!!!!
I bought my 1/2" drive socket set in October 1969. It was SK Wayne. Similar box. Its done a lot of automotive, tractor, and truck repairs. Good Luck, Rick
Tom...Nice little haul. Those Klein multi-taps are great and you can replace the taps if they wear out or get broken. When you are not using it store it with the small side in the handle. The 6/32 portion is small enough if you drop it it might break off. George
Every item in this bunch is fantastic, the sound of that Craftsman ratchet is rather soothing..........Scout came thru, finding old metal boxes in that condition is getting tougher all the time.....The vise is a real gem, some quick searching and at least one person says the "506" means Colombian made it and the earliest catalog he could find it in was from the 60s so it's sounds like your guesses were on target.
My first thought when I saw the two tool handle was the same as CalebTG. It looks like a tool for setting valve lash, one handle for the locknut and the other for the adjustment. But that's just a guess.
Hey Tom I just picked up that same large ratchet but mine says New Britain. That other ratchet is cool too. You’re right about shimming up the anvil to take the play out. Catus Maximus has a video on it. Love the vise and Klein threading tool. Great stuff! Take care 😃👍🏼
I am so envious of you guys who live in the north. You have so many great opportunities for buying tools than we do here in the south! But then again we have better temperatures in the wintertime. Thanks for the video. I ALWAYS really enjoy your videos!
It's a beautiful view you picked up. A lot of guys use inch thick hardwood for the Jaws which looks well enough, but it cost you 2 in of working envelope. There's a product sometimes called masonry board, it's a phenolic product that is extremely hard and has no grain. It's usually sold about an eighth and an inch thick or a quarter inch and it's very inexpensive. It might not be as sexy as a lee valley catalog, but it will work better and it's very easy to remake the jaws, I usually cut four or five pairs at a time using a jig. Because it's very thin, you have to be a little fussy about the length of the screws, but it is worth the trouble. It grips very very hard and yet it absolutely will not mark up the work
I'm not sure if I've used the Klein version, but I've used several of these stepped taps. I hope you don't take it badly if I suggest that you order one or two replacements of the actual tap insert now. Klein is probably less likely to do so then a less reputable company, but I've noticed the trend in recent years of slightly changing the design just enough that it is no longer compatible, functionally making the tool disposable. I don't remember the brand I bought, but it was about $15 yet the inserts were less than $6 each! I also discovered that they work perfectly in a nut driver so you can skip buying the tool and just get a few of the inserts, get twice as many cutters and save 20% while you're doing it
Ah forgot to ask Bruce about those clamps. I emailed Scout about them, but forgot to ask him what they were used for. I think it's welding since it's such a narrow grips. It's funny how such a small get together and we keep finding stuff in two hours of searching and picking. Cool find on the Klein threading tool I was looking at one at home Depot crazy expensive.
You could find a brass tube with the same i.d. as the o.d. of the shaft and the drill the hole to tho.d. of the tube and insert it and cut the length.. I've done it on carbs when the butterfly shift wears the body out .. works good 👍
I don’t think I’ve ever seen one of those Klein tool re-thread screwdrivers. Pretty neat idea for a quick thread fix on a project instead of having to break out the tap/die set. Great finds Tom especially on that vise!😀👍
Nice stuff Tom! I've got the exact same style Herbrand ratchet, mine half inch though. I found a Herbrand socket set right here in the Netherlands but it was missing it's ratchet. I found the ratchet a couple of weeks later in Sweden! I've got one of those Crafstman ratchets too actually, only mine is under the New Britain brand. And all afore mentioned are waiting to be cleaned 😂
I never imagined I would look back on Craftsman tools as some of my favorites. I started out with a Blackhawk 3/8 and 1/4 drive set that came in black soft case. Does anyone remember those? It has been so long I had to think for a bit. New Britain tool followed that and then Snap on moved into my boxes. Full circle, I'm starting to grab the Craftsman tools at yard sales. I'll video more of them tHanks for this video!
@@TomGunnTools I'm with you on that. The Craftsman "V" story is what got me. Anything without a "V" means it could be 1960s or older. Same for the Delta Unisaw I just posted. I can't wait to start using it and two days ago I had no idea I needed it....(The on/off switch is the cat's meow...that switch could send an Apollo to the moon).
Based on context I presume that the c-clamp is not simply a clamp missing the foot? I can't think of how else it might be used. The only thing that comes to mind is the lamps that are on machine tools, I've seen a few that use a c-clamp type item very similar for mounting the lamp into threaded fittings in several different locations around the machine. But all the ones I've seen like that have a straight shaft, sort of like a beam clamp so that the lamp slides over it and uses a ball detent very much like a socket wrench. Yours appears to be heart-shaped, something about that is bugging me as being very familiar, but I cannot bring it to mind. What is its intended purpose?
I have a similar SK toolbox I’m wanting to restore, do you know the exact color paint to use? The closest I found so far is rustoleum hammered deep green, but I can’t find it in the big box stores.
It's to adjust valves, no? If I'm terribly wrong, just ignore me. I've never done mechanic work at all, very comfortable with mechanical engineering, just not into all of these computers involved.

Looking forward to your videos John!
Love your videos Tom! Your enthusiasm for tools and smooth voice makes them fun to watch.
Excellent finds!
That's one nice valve lash adjuster. Must be pre war. I've had a few post war versions. Very cool haul Tom.. Don

Thanks Wire!
Nice video Tom. Those 6/8/10-32 stepped taps are so useful. I broke mine years ago- I wish I can find another. Maybe next tool show?!. See you then.
Your channel content is so great to watch 👍🤠🤠😉😉
Thanks Ken
You guys have a good thing going to be able to meet up and do this very cool tom!!
It’s a great time and great people!

Appreciate the insight about the vise. Even a broken clock is right twice a day! Lol

Hey David, they are great ratchets glad you found one! 👍
That craftsman ratchet is awesome. Bet it could tell a few stories !!
I’m sure!

A lot people here moving south hopefully they are bringing the tools!
@@TomGunnTools That would be nice!
some great items you got there tom you have a good eye 👁 for quality 👍🖐😁🇨🇦
Danoh, I think of you every time I come across some Herbrand! Hope you are doing great!
@@TomGunnTools yes I am doing some sorting today getting some together for a video
Nice haul. ScoutCrafter looks great with those rifles. That woodworkers vise sure is in good condition.
For sure Tony!
I would guess that multi handled tool is for some kind of valve adjustment.

Very nice haul Tom 🛠👍😊
Thanks Sparky, hope your finding some deals at the car boot!
Thanks a lot Tom I'm off there in about an hour 👍😁
Ratchet is awesome!
That BE Craftsman for $5? I'm drooling....
Those swap meets look great. It’s a pity I’m not closer.
Tons of fun!

I appreciate that Stuart.

Fantastic video Tommy would love to go to one of those meet one day that would be great love the Sk box great restoration on the ratchet buddy :-)
Hi Ben, we would love to have you one day!
That mystery toll is to help you torque down with a lot of torque
Awesome video as always Tom. I love that herbrand ratchet. The selector switch is really unique.
Thanks Ian!

for adjusting valves
Great finds Tom! In my opinion this vise is Craftsman.
Great video Tom... always so great to see how much stuff you guys in the States get up to 😁

It’s funny, i never really appreciated them that much till last few years. It’s the nostalgia and memories of years past.

Thought it was a @ScoutCrafter video when I hit play. Decent video dude - hit subscribe a year later when it was published. 7K views so far.
Is it to put a locking double nut on?
i've never heard of a tool swap meet , i nee to see if they exist in my area.
It worth checking out!

It’s hard to find the hammered green. Not sure but may have been discontinued. Rustoleum hunter green is a decent match.
Your “screwdriver “ is actually an electrician’s tap.
Shock top nut tool ...
4:45 torque multiplier?
Is it tappet adjuster

Stole that craftsman vice for 20 bucks
It is a beautiful vise!
Exactly what I was thinking larry
valve lash adjuster
Your thumb is in the way, but if that vise says 506 it was made by Columbian vise.
Yes, it is. Appreciate the info!
Hey Tom Gunn I was wondering do you address your Dad as Pop.
Not usually, but the grandkids do. 👍
