Great info and perspective. But I’m happy with the original and the zoom. I’ve actually used me zoom in wedding videos. The cameras capability with the zoom and being away from being too loud for the other videographers or without interrupting the ceremony has been very cool. I’m enjoying the zoom capabilities.

I've been flying mini 3 pro with rc remote and fly more kit plus for last 1 week. What an amazing drone. I started with dji spark then mini then mavic 2 zoom and now mini 3 pro. Mavic 3 was out of my budget and also not easy to travel with. Also flight time with these new extended batteries is game changer. I've never used the regular battery anymore not even a single flight.

Just picked up the Classic a few days ago (upgrading from my Air 2) and all the key points as to why this should be the go to drone if you want to upgrade is why I’ve held off from buying the Mavic 3. Price point is phenomenal for what is packed into this beast! I wanted to get the Air 2s but couldn’t justify it as a hobbyist as the Air 2 was still quite a great drone. But as DJI is very in tune with consumer demands and needs I knew something like this was bound to drop. Weather has been raining unfortunately for the last two days so haven’t really been able to play with it too much but I’m super stoked to get some footage in the bank and start pixel peeping on photos and color grading that DLog footage.

Great information Billy thank you. But my Mavic 2 Pro and Zoom are serving me just fine. Maybe in a few more years I'll buy a new one. Unlike a lot of Mavic 2 owners I've had no issues with my batteries and I live in Florida with all the heat and humidity. Love how you explain everything in great detail, please keep up the great work.

Billy, some very good salesmanship for the DJI line. If I hadn't just gotten the Air 2S the Mavic 3 Classic would be my choice as well. I love my Air 2S and compared to my other quads (Primarily Phantoms and the Mini) it is like flying a Cadillac, I dont have a need at this point so the Air 2S will be my go to quad for quite a while. Thanks for a great video.
Great video as usual, Billy. As a mechanical engineer and owner of my own drone photography, videography and visual inspection company here in Toronto, Canada. I think it makes perfect sense for DJI to use the Mavic 3 airframe in five different drones. Two key tenets of product design are PLM (Product Life Management) and PLC (Product Life Cycle) with a subset of PLC being IOE (Iteration Optimization and Evolution). DJI has optimized the airframe of the Mavic 3 so from an economic standpoint it makes sense to use it for various drones. The fact that it is being used in five drones currently indicates that an update to the Mavic 3 is not near in the offing. The next significant technical achievement for drones to surpass would be the 60-minute flight time and the next sensor size up from micro 4/3 is APS-C which is 1.6 times the size. I do not see DJI implementing an APS-C sensor in the Mavic line up, instead reserving that for the Inspire 3 when that is launched. I agree that since the introduction of the Mavic 3 Classic, the Air 2S ostensibly becomes redundant, unless the reduced form factor of the Air 2S is of great significance to the buyer.

Just took delivery of the Mavic 3 with 1 controller and battery and added a 2nd.. did a Maiden Flight and wow... that 28x is insane... love the flight times and the signal strength is impressive ... with my MA2 and MA2s and even the Mini 2 I had would lose signal or go Red right around this one church I'd fly by.. the M3 barley lost 1 bar.. wow...

Another awesome video review. I have looked at the Mavic 3 and the Cine. But after watching your video I think the Classic has what I’m looking for at this point. Getting ready to retire from 30 yrs of policing 15yrs of that was doing Surveillance/Photography and 40yrs of photography experience I’m looking to supplement my pension with some drone photography. Eventually I can see adding a Matrice 30T and I have to say your video on that was amazing as well.

Great Video Billy. Since i don’t have the Mavic 3 now i am totally confused. lol.
One sellpoint that doesn't get another attention is the fact that the M3 body is so powerful. I have managed to fly with ease on top of a mountain with very high winds where I really doubt the A2s would be able to cope.

You bring up some good points, the product line did just get a little more confusing over at DJI. If you already own one DJI's current controllers, the Classic is a pretty good deal, and big step up from the Air 2s. As you mention, the Mavic 3 airframe is pretty hard to beat. Excellent review, Billy. Thanks. I'm an AIR 2S flyer but wanted to get a more advanced camera and be able to fly longer, so I got the Mavic 3 Classic. I don't have any use for the Telephoto on the Mavic 3 and find it too expensive. So, I waited patiently and was glad DJI finally delivered. Like you, lost my spare drone, the Mavic Air 2, over the river; it was too windy, and most probably the battery popped out because it was swollen a bit (more than 110 times recharged) - I should have used a harness to keep it secured. For the Mavic 3, ordered a clip from Ali-Express, to prevent the battery from coming out to disconnect power to the motors, when too windy.

This drone gets released on Nov 28th in Canada. 1,919.99. Drone only. The Air 2S is 1,399 for the flymore combo. So Air2s seems to be the waaaaaay better deal.
The Mavic 3 air frame is good no matter which variant you decide to purchase. We all have different needs and desires and I don't believe there is a perfect drone out there. Nice review, Billy. Thanks.

Got lucky and snagged a Mavic 3 classic with the RC-N1 controller for $974 at my local Microcenter yesterday. Was going to upgrade to a Mini 4 Pro, but for that deal it was a no brainer.
When Mavic 3 came out I really like it but due to the price point + flight combo I feel it cost me a lot.
So I was wait and now cannot wait to flight my first Mavic 3 Classic next week.
Assuming the sales data showed a curve that dictated release of the Classic.

I own the Mavic 3 Enterprise, and have been testing the Drone Deploy app, I love the Mavic 3 I got last year...and when they announced the M3E I got it right away. These M3 birds are super stable, and a pleasure to fly! I just ordered the M3T, which is honestly going to let me downsize my thermal ops from the giant M300/H20T combo. Super happy DJI included us commercial mapper/thermographer folks!
Depends I guess. I definitely see it as significant especially for those who wanted the Mavic 3 but hesitated ‘cause of price but with the Mavic 3 Classic, they can finally experience flagship quality for less.

Be great to see comparison of all mavic 3 cameras in their top quality photo/video modes, daylight low light stability etc and then maybe a comparative note/example on each platforms' unique selling point (therm, zoom, mech shutter, image quality). It's like 6 different entrees on the menu, do you need to order 1, 2, or more??? Also, are batts etc compatible across the units?
Come on Billy, I think you know why removing the telephoto lens made the price cut so high, it's because the Mavic 3 was over-priced to begin with, and DJI learned it's lesson perhaps. Edit: I wrote this comment before I listened to your speculation on what the reason may have been.

I purchased the Mini 3 Pro when it was released, which is no slouch when I need a sub-250g drone. I just sold my Mavic Air 2 and ordered the Mavic 3 Classic. I'm thrilled to have such a superb sensor to work with, since much of my work with the Air 2 was in low light conditions, so the 3 will help tremendously to deliver lower noise images and video.

I'm really curious whether the images are affected by the built in lens correction like with the Mavic 3. In Lightroom they look normal, but in other Raw editing software, you can see that the image circle is smaller than the sensor, so there's heavy vignetting. The 'lens correction' causes a bit of a crop and maybe some stretching of the corners. It would be cool if the Mavic 3 Classic didn't have to do so much to the image because it's got more room for the sensor.
the point for me between Air2S and Mavic 3 Classic was finaly the C1 Certification in Europe, so i ordered finaly the 3 Classic. But for me its an upgrade from Air 2 👍
Another great drone from DJI, but I'd still buy the Mavic 3 for the tele lens. The tele lens might not be professional quality, but for exploring it is amazing and has no equal. Glad I didn't have a choice a year ago because I may not have coughed up the extra dough for it.

Billy, great points! Agree with you all on points. For anyone wanting to upgrade from your M2P, this is the perfect upgrade. For the added flight time alone makes this the right transition. And I feel the M3C is smoother and easier to fly than the MP2.
I was curious about that exact question, got the Mavic 2 pro today, and curious about if I will miss that mechanical shutter from M2P or not?
@@Prohdin I don't believe any consumer drone has a mechanical shutter unless you have a DSLR attached to a heavy duty pro drone.
@@ctdrone fair enough, will use my current M2P for as long as I can with current regulations here in the EU, but I got not experience with this rolling shutter ppl talk about, does if affect images and video much?

Hi Billy another great review as always Pro .but the price for the basic, always remember plus tax, possible shipping cost and extra battery are over$ 200 ,also replacement cost for battery 🔋 they don't live forever ,all in all it will be $ 2000 plus .dji air2S is for sure more cost consider. all in all half the cost and it does 90% all the classic deliveries.cheers
what imo people constantly forgetting, is a fact, mavic3 is 4/3 sensor drone and it got 2 cameras/lens assembly, at least on initial launch. i said that and i repeat even now: try to find any competition with that sensor size etc, and you would have to shelf out at least 6-7k (yes, i did check then and i doubt things have changed till now) and probably even more for additional gizmos to have comparable usability etc.
so this in reality is just dji competing with itself. but classic is nice "affordable" addition for more common user, definitely.

Classic is a fairly large heavy drone compared to 2s. Mini3 is humourously light and impressive (held both at Syracuse/Dewitt best buy).
Unsure if I'll upgrade my air2 to 2s or classic. I built a drone before we could buy ready to fly drones, planning to carry m43 camera. Never quite finished it, lost interest. A m43 drone has been my goal for over 10 years!
So...if I have both the MINI 3 and Air2S but want the controllable aperture and longer flight time of the Classic, which drone do I sell?

I usually do offer up app or facebook marketplace, but ive noticed lately fb marketplace has a lot of scammers asking for my phone number now.
i bought the classic and made my own "flymore combo" minus the bag and upgraded the props to MAS 's and i was still 500 bucks cheaper than the OG m3 flymore

To get the true friendly price you have to pick on up in China. Way cheaper without the import taxes

Hey Billy, Hello I've asked this question to others with similar videos and nobody has answered me. My Mavic 2 pro is said to be able to shoot with 14 stops of dynamic range. This Classic 3 has only 12.8. That's a lot. Do I have this wrong and how could it be.? Does the Pro 2 have better Dynamic Range. ?

With the Classic, I don't see any reason for an Air 3 to be added to the lineup. This seems to fill in the gap just fine.

Havent they limited the ISO in D-log on the Classic though? Thus technically limiting this drone over the Mavic 3. Looking at the specs, the Mavic 3 shoots at base 100 ISO in D-Log where as the Mavic 3 classic's base ISO for D-Log is 400. Again not really justifying the $500 difference
I can't find the create/edit feature on the new dji RC remote to my mavic 3 classic to quickly edit. Is the editing feature gone on fly app on the new RC remote ?

DJI should have just dropped the price of the M3 instead of releasing another drone. You're quite right in saying a 7x telephoto lens doesnt cost $500.
