    In this video we take a look at the Flysimware Cessna 414AW Chancellor, within Microsoft Flight Simulator (MSFS).
    We will be taking the aircraft on a hop from Gunnison Regional Airport (KGUC), up to Grand Junction (KGJT), via the MTJ VOR. The aircraft is still in an "early access" state, so lets see whether or not it's worth taking the plunge early. . .
    Please note this video and all its contents / materials, is for entertainment / simulation purposes only.

    2022 is gonna be 3rd party addon heaven for msfs

    • @SuperTrb0
      @SuperTrb0 2 года назад +3

      I hope so. I get concerned though with “early access”. A lot of “EA” stuff never gets really completed. I’m sure when the companies release and EA product their heart is in the right place but now they have the money made off the product, sometimes the motivation to either make a final release, or the quality just isn’t there.

    • @IntotheBlueSimulations
      @IntotheBlueSimulations  2 года назад +2

      It's certainly looking very promising! : )

    • @IntotheBlueSimulations
      @IntotheBlueSimulations  2 года назад +3

      I think this happens a lot. I doubt there are too many companies that set out with the intention of ripping customers off, but there is certainly a long list of projects that have fallen by the wayside over the years.
      "Early Access" is such an unknown quantity these days as well; with projects like this, that are excellent in their own right, all the way through to a largely incomplete and buggy mess. To complicate matters further, "finished" products are often anything but these days; the C414 for example is in a far better state than some fully-fledged addons we've seen in MSFS so far.
      Unfortunately these sorts of practices seem to be prevalent not just in the hobby, but throughout consumer products in general. . .
      Cheers and all the best! : )

    I love your reviews, they are my go-to when I'm looking at a new add-on! My only request would be that you start to include a segment flying at night to go over and review the lighting, both interior and exterior!

      Thanks very much Ohmmshoo, really glad you're enjoying the content and finding it of use! : )
      That's a very reasonable request and one I get semi-regularly. It's something I try to include when I remember. Unfortunately I generally have so many things to cover during a review, that I invariably forget one or two things along the way (and night lighting often tends to be one of them for whatever reason haha). I shall re-double my efforts to try and remember for next time! ; )

    A company that offers its manual online for free even before we have purchased their product deserves all my respect! The Cessna 414 manual is one of the most beautiful manuals I have seen to date (I am an Art Director in advertising). Congratulations Flysimware! Agree with absolutely everything you recommended. When it's done, they will have a new very satisfied customer!

      That's a very good point 06L! It's always nice to be able to see the manual ahead of time, get a feel for the product etc. Looking at it through layman's eyes, I'm certainly inclined to agree; a very nicely laid out and refined manual, very pleasing on the eye. Generally speaking the quality of the aircraft is no different.
      As and when you pick up the C414 then, I do hope you enjoy it!

    Great review as always. This one goes on my buy-list as soon as I've updated my hardware. A bit shocked to hear you get 80+ fps - I knew my processor was a bottleneck but didn't realise by quite how much!

      Thanks once again Adam! The C414 still still has some issues, but I think it’s very worthy of a position on any “must buy” list. FSW have also been very active with patches since release.
      Haha, well I only run at 1080p and the “High End” preset, so that probably accounts for my fairly decent FPS. I only upgraded my processor fairly recently and whilst it gave a nice little bump to MSFS, I was totally shocked to see how much quicker the new processor performs some other tasks (video processing for example). It terms of raw speed, the new one wasn’t a tonne quicker than the old one, but my gosh has the tech moved on over the last 5 years!
      Good luck with the upgrade! All the best : )

    Excellent review as always. This looks absolutely top notch quality and Flysimware as a developer have continued to improve every year and it looks like they are pretty near the top of the tree now. Hopefully other developers will aspire to their levels of excellence and they would do well to match this for quality and depth.

    • @IntotheBlueSimulations
      @IntotheBlueSimulations  2 года назад

      Thanks very much Mark!
      Yes completely agree, FSW really impressed with this one. For me, this one came as a little bit of a surprise; I had the Bell 47G for FSX / P3D back in the day and rather enjoyed it, but their Wigeon for MSFS certainly looked to be nothing special visually - the C414 is in a completely different league.
      MSFS has proven to be a little bit of a shame with some of the bigger developers, not really putting in the work thus far, but it's been really great to see some of the smaller, more obscure devs stepping up and producing some absolutely top quality products!
      I'm very much enjoying the C414 and it's been great to see how proactive FSW have been with patches / updates as well. Hats off to them!
      Cheers and all the best! : )

    Great review for a good looking product. I wasn't overly impressed with Flysimware aircraft in the past but it seems they have really come of age. Good visuals and sounds with just a few niggles needing a touch up. I agree with you, I have seen "finished" aeroplanes not nearly as good as this.

      Yes, I had their Bell 47 in FSX / P3D which I did rather enjoy, but the MSFS Wigeon looked verrry dated graphically, so I was rather surprised to see the quality of this one when it released! I'm not a big fan of "early access", but this is how it should be done - a high quality product off the bat and lots of updates thereafter.
      The C414 has it's issues for sure, but nevertheless it's one of my favorite additions to the sim thus far! : )

      Yes, like most things in MSFS, we waited for 1 decent twin and now we are likely to have 2 in quick succession haha (not that I'm complaining!). The C414 is a very nice effort overall and whilst it did release (in early access) with a number of issues, it's been great to see that FSW have been very proactive about fixing them. One of my favorite MSFS additions to date.

    This looks interesting. I'm happy to see a Cessna that isn't a default or Carenado aircraft haha. The default 152/172 are fairly decent to be fair, but the Carenado iterations are largely very wishy-washy.

      Yeah, the C414 is a very nice offering overall - certainly worthy of consideration if it does make its way onto the Marketplace (and hopefully all of the bugs will have been ironed out by then).
      I quite enjoy the default Cessna's and (dare I say it) actually most of Carenado's output as well haha! I haven't tried the C182T mind you and I gather that is probably the weakest of their bunch. I would love a 182 for the sim, but not with a glass cockpit. . .
      I always forget that Cessna make twins as well haha, but actually they make some really nice airframes and this is definitely one of them!

      @@IntotheBlueSimulations You like the Carenado's? Why, that's heresy, sir!!!
      Haha. Said with tongue firmly planted in-cheek, as I jest. I actually have a soft spot for the YMF-5. I do not like the C182 at all, and I only bought the PA28 as the Just Flight offerings have eluded me thus far (I have a Series X and a velocity one yoke, and they'renot available yet due to coding issues). Although to be fair, it's actually alright. It's just not anywhere near as good as the JF offerings.

    Very nicely done! You've sold me. You mentioned the in.Hg. - It's common to indicate the pressure as just three digits (992 = 29.92 and so on). In fact, the format for entering altimeter settings into the NAS at an Air Route Traffic Control sector is "Time/Station/Pressure" and formatted as: AS 0245 GUC 989 - This would display as "0245 GUN 989" on the scope (at least for ARTCC's) but be read as Gunnison altimeter two niner eight niner.

    GREAT flight and review. For a "beta" release, there were very few issues. The auto pilot is not a problem, rather an issue to be reported to the developer. At this price, I think I will add it to the hangar. I don't purchase every plane available, but like to have a few g1000 single and twins and the same with an older cockpit. This will fill the bill for an "older twin". Thanks again for putting in the time to make such quality videos.

    • @IntotheBlueSimulations
      @IntotheBlueSimulations  2 года назад

      Thanks very much once again Mark!
      Yes, beta and even “finished” tend to be very loose terms these days, covering all sorts of states of competition haha. The autopilot is the only major issue I’ve had with the aircraft personally, but as you say, the developer will be aware of it and fixing it up I’m sure. I guess anyone who purchases, knows that they are technically beta testing anyway.
      Indeed the C414 definitely has a bit of its own niche at the moment. It’s the only high-fidelity, steam gauge twin currently available. That may not be the case for long, with the MILVIZ C310 just around the corner, but I’m very happy with my C414 for now at any rate! : )

    Currently enjoying the MV310R in VR, which is an awesome aircraft. Now I want this! Love the updated engine sounds noted in your other video. BTW, two years ago I took a mountain flying course in CO. I flew a C182 from KMTJ to KTEX under the guidance of an amazing CFI. What an incredible experience! Landing at Telluride was a dream come true for me (thanks to FSX). It's the highest "commercial" airport in North America at 9070' MSL. Lake Co (Leadville) is the highest altitude public airport - 9934' MSL (no commercial flights). I got my PPL on the east coast (NJ) twenty five years ago, so seeing the beauty of the Rocky Mountains was breathtaking! 😊 Going to purchase the 414 now. Wonderful review as always ITTBS!!! You’ve become one of my favorite sim aircraft reviewers and I value your opinions and feelings! A few things I noticed while flying the aircraft: Same as you, I had difficulty exercising the props. Found out you need to place the prop levers in the feather detent and pluck it out to elicit the desired effect (doesn’t seem right). Rudder are still quite sensitive on takeoff for me, curious to see what your sensitivity settings are for your sim if you have a free moment! When I attempted a go around, carrying quite a bit of speed, and added 3/4 throttle, the RPM peaked and stayed at 4000 RPM. Well above the red arc. It wasn’t until I added full throttle that the needles finally settled below the red arc. A fellow streamer mentioned, regarding the altitude hold issue you presented, is due to the aircraft potentially using GPS altitude and not barometric. Just something to be aware of. I’m loving this plane and hope that these matters get addressed to really bring this plane head and shoulders above the rest! Thank you again for what you do my friend!!! Cheers!!!

      Thank you very much indeed for the kind words Hawks! Really glad you’re enjoying the channel / content.
      I’d be surprised if the prop issue isn’t a bug, but it’s always hard to be sure with these things, unless you’ve actually flown the aircraft (which I haven’t). I’ve never flown a twin that didn’t respond on the props during the runup, but then again, I haven’t flown all that many twins haha. The Carenado C337 and Arrow III had the same issue on release. . .
      I run a -50 curve on my rudder axis, so fairly aggressive. Obviously you sacrifice some finer control at the extremes (hence my dodgy engine-out work haha), but I find it does temper down the sims rudder issues a little bit. Others have said the same as yourself though regarding the takeoff; I found the aircraft tracked very nicely and when I did put in minor corrections, all was fine. . . It’s all relative though I suppose ha, I think it’s an improvement over most other addons I’ve flown at any rate.
      Haha, that’s kind of funny re the autopilot / altitude. I figured it must be using a different reference, since it was flying 13,700ft so nicely. Should be an easy fix then at least.
      Overall though, the C414 is an absolute diamond in the rough! I expect the issues will get ironed out and then it’s going to be right up there as one of the absolute best addons available currently in the sim. I’ve been having a blast with it, just a lot of hand flying haha!

      Yes it's definitely still a beta, although FSW have been very proactive with patches thus far (which is great to see). As you say, it shouldn't be too long now until the MILVIZ C310 arrives and that's looking excellent as well. I think the failure modelling with the 310 is going to prove to be a very strong selling point for the addon.
      Cheers! : )

    I'm glad to see what looks like another good near study level aircraft. I'm having serious problems trusting developers to deliver what I am looking for in a higher end plane and I'd like to some day be able to add more names alongside Just Flight and PMDG to the list I feel comfortable buying from without a hands-on test at a friend's. Everyone's expectations and demands are different and as the market matures I hope we continue to see more aircraft with challenging flight models and good systems depth.

      @IntotheBlueSimulations  2 года назад

      Hi Josef,
      Yes, unfortunately with MSFS so far, it's been slim pickings as far as truly high quality addons go. That being said, of course as the sim matures, we should start to see more and more offerings on the table.
      PMDG and Just Flight are certainly bastions of quality thus far in MSFS. FlyingIron and MILVIZ would also get honorable mentions from me. The C414 does have its bugs currently, but FSW have been very proactive with patches and fixes. I expect the chancellor will be right up there as one of the best addons in the sim once finished.
      As you say, we all want different things in terms of fidelity, but I think most of us would agree that we want a quality product. "Early access" bugs aside (I hope) the C414 certainly offers that.
      Cheers and all the best! : )

      Yes, thank you Robert! I was aware of the button, but I would be very surprised if the real autopilot doesn't level the aircraft off once its gone into ALT mode (regardless of whether or not it's been armed ahead of time), whether that's at the selected altitude, or the aircraft's present altitude.
      I haven't used one of these specific units in the real-world, so I could certainly be wrong, but "ALT" would suggest to me that the mode should be active at that point regardless.

    You hit the arm button next to the altitude window right under the HSI , that will make it capture your intended ALT.
    You can also use the baron 58 sounds if these aren’t up to par yet, I plan to

    • @IntotheBlueSimulations
      @IntotheBlueSimulations  2 года назад

      Thanks very much James. My understanding is that whilst one can certainly use the Alt Arm functionality to capture an altitude, it shouldn't be a requirement to hold an alt. If Alt is engaged on the autopilot itself, then it should be maintained regardless.
      That's a great idea on the Baron sounds. I know people have been doing this with other addons as well (the Aeroplane Heaven P-51 for example). Personally I don't mind the C414 soundset, but you aren't the only person I've heard from that felt it is lackluster.

      Haha, I’m sure mistakes were made: The checklist did call for a “feathering check” at 1,700rpm and whilst I thought this was a little odd, I didn’t see any other way of interpreting that statement at the time (I guess in hindsight, it really just meant to check the props). In MSFS, one generally can’t come back into the feather position using a hardware axis (I would have had to click on the levers to do that), but I take your point at any rate and will avoid damaging any more engines for you in the future haha ; )

    Very nice detailed video. You failed to mention the obvious bugs like side windows open while being locked or even with EFB in the way, the windows open trough the tablet. The main door opens but does not show in external view besides very briefly and disappears. I only fly in VR so could be all non VR optimized? And the actual rudder on the tail does not move when plane is stationary only when it's in motion and yes it's unlocked. Livery paintjob is very poor when you look at it... But great plane. I love it from day 1 when it was released as Beta. You did make a mistake pulling the "Emergency Cross feed Shut off Lever" at the start. Don't if there is no fire or gears up landing! :-) It's a great detailed plane and we need those in the sim so I'm happy to be an early adopter so the devs get the support to improve and fix all the bugs and make more super realistic planes with great sound sets. WE WANT MORE :-D

      Hi Sven, thanks very much, glad you enjoyed it : )
      To be honest, I didn't notice a lot of the bugs you mentioned. I tend to look at what an addon can't do, as opposed to what it can do I suppose. I generally run with a real-world checklist and if it can perform based off that, then it's all good by me. I don't generally try to "break" things. Not to say that one is wrong to do so, merely that I am happy, so long as I can operate the aircraft within its normal bounds. The door issue must be a VR bug - you can see in my video that the door stays open and visible.
      I was using a real-world C414 checklist for the video and it calls for "Emergency Crossfeed Shutoff - Open"; I guess pull is the closed position then haha (this is the problem when the included manual doesn't flesh out the detail - though it was a nice manual overall)?
      Anyway, I'm glad you're enjoying the aircraft overall! I agree that I'd love to see more addons of this caliber!

    Looks alright, will be interesting to see how it compares to Milviz's Cessna 310, I know the 310 and 414 are a fair bit different but eh, both are twin engine cessnas at the end of the day.... The modelling on this 414 is really nice though, looks a lot better than their Widgeon. That table unfolding animation was quite enjoyable as well! Turbochargers aren't actually modelled at all in MSFS, just like in FSX and FS9 etc. Asobo have improved Turboprops though so hopefully one day they'll actually get around to fixing up turbochargers (as well as dozens of other things eh?). Automix doesn't cut it really.
    Twin props aren't really my jam but there's been a fair few single prop GA planes released recently that I've been eyeing up: the BR Sim Designs Ercoupe 415C, the Sukhoi Su-31 by India Foxt Echo and the SWS Vans RV-14. Hoping you'll be covering at least one or two of them in the near future! There's also a SIAI-Marchetti S.205 by Nemeth but apparently their Yak-18 they released a while back is still full of bugs so ain't expecting much there.
    Quite interested in the Ercoupe as the real plane is quite interesting. Designed to be apparently almost impossible to stall or spin and no rudder pedals as IRL it's linked up to the yoke movements although I read in the forum that this isn't really properly modelled unfortunately. Never bought a plane by BRSim before though so not really sure what to expect from them.
    Anyhoo, cheers for the vid as always. A++++++++ as they say on ebay reviews.

      Hi Megadyptes,
      Yes, I think the C414 and the C310 are going to be broadly on a par with one another; the C310 probably having the slight edge with its failure modelling etc (hoping to be able to take a look at the C310 soon!). I was rather surprised by the level of modelling quality from the C414, as you say, the Wigeon ain't particularly pretty. . .
      I must admit that I didn't actually realise that turbochargers weren't modelled full-stop. That would explain quite a lot haha. Auto-mixture is certainly far from ideal, but FSW have now at least updated the aircraft CFG, such that it comes with auto-mixture on as standard (saves one flicking back and forth between various sim settings). I suppose one can't blame a dev for deficiencies in their product, if such areas aren't even covered in the sim. As you say, I suspect Asobo will fix thing up, the question is *when* haha (approaching the 2 year mark rapidly now!).
      I did take a look at the Sukhoi - although surprisingly little interest in that one, going off the viewing numbers. I would have liked to have taken a look at the Ercoupe and the RV-14, unfortunately free time (or a lack thereof) got the better of me there. . . I may well still take a look at the RV-14 some time down the road though (despite the glass cockpit, it looks excellent overall).
      Haha! The old Ebay reviews. . . haven't received one of those in a fair old while!
      Thanks for watching! AAA+++++ - would definitely do business with again! ; )

      @@IntotheBlueSimulations I guess aerobatic planes aren't everyone's cup of tea. I quite enjoy them though and will get around to watching your Sukhoi vid in a day or two.
      I picked up the RV-14 myself and had a quick flight around Hong Kong and my first impressions were that it's pretty nice! Another solid product from SWS even if the glass cockpit isn't my cup of tea. Quite speedy and manoeuvrable and the choice of tail-dragger or tricycle is nice. That was just one quick flight though so dunno how it holds up in the longer run as I've unfortunately been grounded by joystick issues.
      Had a bit of a mishap when giving the old Thrustmaster Warthog stick a clean the other day, guess some water got inside and buggered up the electrics. Gonna take it apart later (if I can find a tiny allen key that fits these screws) and see if it can be saved. If not then I'll have to fork out for something new. Been eyeing up the new Gladiator EVO by VKB which looks quite nice. Bit on the pricey side for me though so if I do get it I'll have to cut back on the flight sim addon purchasing spree for the next month or two.
      Decent flight sim gear is quite stupidly priced. Getting a replacement Warthog stick would cost me about £250. I only paid around £200 for both the stick and throttle about 6-7 years ago. Granted it was refurbished but it was done and sold by Thrustmaster themselves and it was pretty much in a new condition. The Gladiator will be around £200 I think. Not entirely sure because of stupid Brexit shit with VAT on stuff over £130 not being collected by EU stores and so the delivery company will handle it and charge you a bullshit brokerage fee on top of it. As far as I can tell there's no import duty on flight sim gear though so small blessings etc. I suppose I could always get a cheapo Logitech thing from Amazon or something but lol nah.
      Bloody stupid expensive hobby. Was hoping the Warthog stick would last a few more years. Oh well, enough ranting about things costing too much and how back in my day you could buy a throttle and stick and have change left over to get a Wimpy burger, a milkshake and a taxi home and how the weather was better and chicken actually tasted like chicken.

    Another useful and informative review! On a separate note, what do you think of the costs of these addons? I've really started feeling uncomfortable lately about spending around £40 to use in a flight sim that overall, the costs just don't add up when compared...

      Hi John,
      Thanks very much, really glad you found the video to be of use!
      Apologies for the slow reply; that's a tricky one honestly: I've been an avid simmer for most of my life, so I suppose I've become accustomed to the relatively high cost of addons. "Value" can of course be rather subjective, but undoubtedly most sim products these days are at the threshold of what I feel comfortable paying. I can only imagine how much money I have spent on simming over the years, but most hobbies aren't cheap and I derive a lot of enjoyment from it (so I consider it money well spent overall). I used to be very specific / careful with which addons I purchased (that isn't the case so much now that I have the channel). I try and put things into context; £40 is no small amount of money, but equally it often doesn't get you a whole lot these days. I'd rather buy an addon, from which I will get many hours of enjoyment, as opposed to a few beers, or a couple of trips to see a very average movie at the cinema etc.
      That's my two pennies worth anyway.
      Thanks and all the best! : )

      I was aware of the altitude alerter / alt capture functionality, but as I understand it, its use shouldn't be a requirement to put the aircraft into alt hold (that certainly wouldn't be the case with most aircraft that I have flown).

      Well, it’s all relative I suppose haha, but I didn’t find it to be nearly as bad as most MSFS offerings. The C414 seemed to track pretty nicely straight down the runway and when I did have to make minor corrections, it was easy to do so without the aircraft spearing off the centreline. I have a -50 curve set on my rudder axis, perhaps that accounts for our different experiences?

    • @IntotheBlueSimulations
      @IntotheBlueSimulations  2 года назад

      Hi Stewie, sorry for the slow reply!
      If I dredge up some of old memories from my aerodynamics studies; Vortex generators basically disrupt the airflow and cause it to become more turbulent. This turbulence re-energizes the airflow / gives it more energy. Rather against intuition (I always thought anyway haha), by making the airflow more turbulent, it actually helps it "stick" to the wing, control surface etc more readily (improving aircraft handling characteristics).
      Probably not a textbook answer haha, but I hope it helps! All the best : )

    Thanks, ITB, for another informative video!
    Just a couple of questions since i'm unfamiliar with this airplane:
    What's the flag in the ADI for?
    Why setting the pressurization for Sea Level when landing at 5,000 FT elevation.
    Let's hope they can sort out the fairly annoying niggles that remain.

    • @IntotheBlueSimulations
      @IntotheBlueSimulations  2 года назад

      Thanks very much Wikstrom, my pleasure!
      The ADI flag is a little bit of a guess on my part, but as I had switched into GPS navigation by that point, I think the flag is just denoting that the GPS is not providing any vertical guidance currently (as I was using the GTN750, which can provide vertical navigation). I expect you would see the same flag if the ILS was tuned up and you weren't picking up the glideslope.
      For the pressurisation; It looks as though the system will maintain surface level pressure in the cabin, up to an altitude of 10,000ft. As a result, 10,000ft is actually the lowest cruise level one can set on the system (as anything below that will just equate to sea level pressure anyway). So I set sea level and then switched to "depressurise" mode once on the ground.
      FSW have certainly been very proactive with patches thus far - indeed many of the aircraft's bugs have now been fixed up.
      I hope that helps a little? All the best! : )

    • @benjaminwesoloski9333
      @benjaminwesoloski9333 2 года назад

      The small number on the outer scale of the pressurization controller equates to cabin altitude usually while the smaller number on the inner scale relates to cruising altitude. Usually you set cruise altitude plus 500 feet and then when descending you set the cabin altitude to landing field elevation plus 500 feet again. That way the cabin will be depressurized the last 500 feet or so on approach to landing.

    Regarding your problems getting the autopilot to level off at 14000, I wonder maybe it’s perhaps related to needing to arm the ALT mode. I’ve seen some other previews, and they seems to be a switch near that smaller altitude setting instrument under the HSI

    • @JDSleeper
      @JDSleeper 2 года назад +1

      Yes. I'd had the same problem on my first two flights. It wouldn't hold altitude once it got there. But on the third flight I set altitude, then pushed Arm in IAS mode. It's then set for altitude capture. Got up to FL200 and stayed there.

    • @IntotheBlueSimulations
      @IntotheBlueSimulations  2 года назад

      Thanks very much for the suggestion Rene! I was aware of the Alt Arm option, but I would be surprised if it's actually a requirement for maintaining an altitude. I could be wrong, as I've never used one of these particular units in the real world; but generally once one hits Alt, I would expect the aircraft to either level off at its present altitude, otherwise the one selected on the unit itself. Again though, that's an educated guess on my part.
      If it works differently in the sim then perhaps I'm wrong. Either way, it's good to know that there is a workable method (as Jon also mentions), I shall give it a go on my next flight : )

      Hi Mark,
      Yeah, it’s a beautiful model and sounds really nice overall. The fuel pumps didn’t bother me nearly as much during the flight, as they did when I watched back the video XD I’m fairly certain you could get away running without running them though yes. Perhaps the dev or a 3rd party will come up with a fix, to lower the audio of the pumps a bit.
      Installation is only allowed on one computer at a time. So you can move it from one PC to another, but I believe you’d have to inform Flysimware etc; which might be straightforward, but might just as equally be a massive palaver. The installer mentions that even if you upgrade hardware on your installation PC, you may have to “reapply” for another installation. It’s not the end of the world, but I really don’t like these sort of practices. You’re essentially punishing someone that legitimately purchased your products, because others partake in piracy (and are probably still going to do so either way). I find it a bit galling when I purchase something and am then told how I can use it. . .

      It’s certainly possible in theory, but unless you’re particularly familiar with addon config files / coding (and assuming the files aren’t encrypted) it wouldn’t be very easy for one to do themselves - really it would be up to the developer to add those effects.
      I’m afraid I’m not familiar enough with the general process of editing addons, that I would be able to offer up any help on that one. The C414 is still “early access” though, so it’s quite possible the dev will add in these features at a later date.

This seems to have lead (in some cases) to lazy practices, high prices and poor customer service. It's nice to see some fresh new ideas and talents; most of these smaller, newer devs seem to have a lot of passion and care for their products, they also seem to interact with their customers much more readily, take on board feedback without offence etc.

      Hi Aviator,
      Is that with the default GPS, or one of the modded versions? I'm not quite sure what could be causing that, but the C414 definitely has a few issues with the GNS530 in particular at the moment it seems. Did the most recent patch to the aircraft do anything to fix your situation?

    I don't understand why Cessna decided to put the emergency x-feed knob on the floor. Seems like it would be easy to trip over or when you are climbing into the seat. Couldn't they just have put the knob where the cowl-flaps are?

      Hi TY,
      I’m no expert when it comes to aircraft design haha but, I’d imagine the cross-feeds where placed there, purely because it was mechanically simpler. It’s certainly a valid point that you make but, in fairness to Cessna, I suppose that’s why it’s a checklist item.

      Hi BB,
      You can use the default camera controls to move around the cockpit / cabin. The assignments can be found online I'm sure, but essentially it's just a combination of the arrow keys with / without left ALT to move around. The doors etc can also be actuated via the tablet though, so it's not required to move around per se.

    • @IntotheBlueSimulations
      @IntotheBlueSimulations  2 года назад

      Hi John,
      The two are fairly similar in terms of utility, but they are vastly different in terms of execution (in my opinion). The Chancellor is better in really almost every sense and whilst it does still have a few bugs, it's one of the better addons out there to date. For me personally (I own both aircraft), if I had to choose between the two, it would be the C414 every time.
      I hope that helps a little John, apologies for the slow reply.

  • @aurel42

    Hmmm. Get the 414 now or wait for the imminent release of the Milviz 310? Flysimware has come a long way since my last purchase (which was the 441 Conquest for P3D) when they were a one-man shop (if they still are, consider my mind blown). On the other hand, the 310 also has come a long way since P3D days, and I find its state saving and realism options very sexy.
    Apart from the 414 being pressurized, both models kinda compete for the same spot in the hangar. That's gonna be a hard decision.
    edit: Actually, it's an easy decision. The installation being limited to one PC probably means the product uses some form of aggressive (as in "always active") online DRM (or "license management") to enforce this rule, which, to me, is not acceptable. I'll definitely wait for the C310.

    • @IntotheBlueSimulations
      @IntotheBlueSimulations  2 года назад

      Hi Marc,
      Yeah, both aircraft rather operate in the same space and I'm sure FSW were / are all too aware of that. I'm definitely looking forward to the C310 as well, I think the failure modelling in particular is really going to enhance the MSFS experience. I plan on reviewing the 310 when the time comes, so maybe that will help you decide.
      Just to muddy the waters further though; I seem to recall that the MILVIZ Porter also used some fairly "aggressive" DRM software - so the two products might be as bad as each other in that respect haha XD Then again, I think the MILVIZ DRM only applies if purchased through certain channels. . .
      Shouldn't be too long of a wait now for the C310, so let's see!
      Cheers and all the best : )

      @@IntotheBlueSimulations I hate to have to nitpick (just kidding, I love nitpicking), but I have to set this straight: MilViz stopped using their DRM solution a couple of days after the intial release.
      I feel I had a part in that. As a long time customer, I mailed MilViz after the Porter release to tell them how disappointed I was about their decision to introduce a DRM scheme. Osh (their main PR/customer relations guy, I think) responded defending the decision, I responded with a detailed explanation of why DRM is bad, especially when it's done in the way the MilViz "WASM helper" worked, and got this response the next day:
      "On reflection we must agree with much of what you say. Until we can make it trouble-free for all, we will go back to our previous system."
      Only a few days after that, an update for the porter removed the dependency on the "WASM helper" DRM module. I'm quite confident that the C310 will be released without an aggressive DRM scheme.

    Another aircraft released at full price while being described as early access. I am not fond of this trend. With experience from Early Access type games for years on Steam a lot of them have never progressed past Early Access even years later.
    I’ve stopped supporting Early Access games on Steam as the use of Early Access has become an excuse for delivering products at full price for half quality and a complete uncertainty if the product will ever be fully done. Anytime you point out issues it gets slapped away with “it’s early access” despite it being literal years later.
    So a pass on this for me despite the quality appearing to be decent. I’ll wait for them to declare it as no longer early access and they themselves consider it a complete product. And this goes for all MSFS products for that matter, not exclusively this product.

    • @IntotheBlueSimulations
      @IntotheBlueSimulations  2 года назад

      A sensible and prudent attitude generally speaking Vograx! I've been bitten more than once by "early access" - I think we all have. The term is incredibly vague and one never really knows what they are going to get (if indeed you'll end up with anything at all).
      In defense of the C414; it's already completed to a better standard than many "finished" addons. So whilst I am no fan of early access, this is how it should be done (if at all). So far FSW have been pretty proactive with patches, but there's certainly no harm in waiting until it's complete : )

      Very happy to hear that the video was still of use and noted on the ALT ARM. I was aware of the ALT window and ARM mode - I've never used one of these particular autopilot units before, but I would be very surprised if they autopilot can't be put straight into ALT (without arming first). Typically once you see "ALT", you would be expecting the mode to be active, as opposed to armed. Again though, that may not be the case with this particular unit. . .
