    I’m glad you are addressing the over-modeled weather veining and effect on the vertical stabilizer. My PPL checkride was on a windy day gusting upwards of 25 knots and it never threw my 172 around like this sim does. They seriously need to tone it down. Thanks Jeff!

    • @jamnick8259
      @jamnick8259 2 года назад +1

      Have you tried sim update 9 beta? The 172 feels a lot better with the new physics engine compared to the other aircrafts on the old engine.

    • @Cessna172SNavIII
      @Cessna172SNavIII 2 года назад

      @@jamnick8259 no I haven’t done any beta testing. They updated the physics engine? Like completely did away with the old physics?

      @@Cessna172SNavIII if u search msfs cfd u can find a vid to better explain it but if u have the steam version u can just right click on msfs and go to properties and try the beta. U can also do it with the MS store version but idk how it works since I only have the steam version. The current system is from FSX so they started releasing parts of the new model with sim update 8 which was the prop wash, sim update 9 is cfd which is airflow over the control surfaces so the aircraft interacts with the environment more realistically and sim update 10 will be the start to the weather system overhaul

    • @Cessna172SNavIII
      @Cessna172SNavIII 2 года назад

      @@jamnick8259 damn you’re right. I installed the beta and tested direct crosswind departures of 10-15 knots in the 172, 208, CJ4, and CRJ-700 (CJ4 and CRJ’s were the worst when it came to weather-veining) and there is a significant difference in the behavior of ground handling, especially transitioning to and from lift. This is a good start from Asobo, hopefully they can get this sim to become even more realistic and stop focusing on making it an arcade game. If only the sim released in this state

    • @jamnick8259
      @jamnick8259 2 года назад

      @@Cessna172SNavIII the 172's are the only ones with the new model and everything else is still on the old model. The option is there for 3rd party to turn on the system as well but haven't heard any of them updating their planes yet. Yeah I also notice that the 172 falls out they sky as soon as I cut the power unlike the 152 that is still on the old model and that floats for days.

    Nice seeing you highlighting a FlySimWare product! I've been a long time customer of Mark's and have enjoyed most of his offerings. Haven't gotten the 414 yet, but plan on getting it soon.
    Quick note about the autopilot - it does *not* have a true Altitude Hold function. It is a modified Pitch Hold only and this is correct to the real autopilot modeled. It throws a lot of people off that aren't aware of this and expect it to work like a newer autopilot with vertical modes. This is why the manual makes a big point about turning the autopilot off when climbing or descending and making sure you have the plane flying fully trimmed in level flight prior to engaging to give you the best chance at holding altitude. You can use the pitch trimmer on the autopilot to make small adjustments or even just use the elevator trim itself to make small changes. The few real aircraft I ever flew with that autopilot in it, I just left it off because it created more hassle than it solved (then again, I was VFR, so there wasn't much of a need to shed any workload anyway). If you want a fully featured autopilot, you can do the "upgraded" panel, but it requires either the TDS GTN750 or the PMS50 GTN750.

    The cabin pressure at 23:00 is the gauge on the top left of that stack, you are looking at the oxygen PSI gauge. The cabin pressure gauge has the cabin altitude on the outside and the differential pressure on the inside. What I did find as a bug is that even with the pressurization switch to 'depressurize' it does in fact pressurize. It might be fixed already, check for updates as FSW is really fast with those! Nice vid.

    Would my RTX 2060 6GB be able to run MSFS at a playable rate? It doesn’t have to be as clear as this I just want to fly

      By the beard of my sainted aunt, an RTX2060 with 6gb (preferably more) can handle MSFS without a blink. I'm using the GTX1080 (which is something Noah used on the Ark) and it runs it perfectly well with room to spare. Ok, maybe not 100% but you know what I mean.

    For reference the winds being at 20 mph.
    For those in Texas maybe last week or month we had tornadoes 🌪 touch down all over so the weather was going mental! Maybe that what the flight sim was recreated the winds going mental.
    Hopefully everyone doing okay, or trying to do okay today.
    Take care everyone and stay safe out there.
    Bye for now.

    Do you feel this sim Flys well? I'm no pilot, just flew many rc planes for years and I once flew a piper cub with floats (real one). nothing special but I got to fly it around a bit and get a feel for it. Anyways I feel like all these planes just float in this game and don't feel very scary at all. I try to stall, roll and do whatever I can to make me feel like I can loose control but I never really do. I never have lost a plane on this sim like I have an rc plane, never just stalled hard dropped a wing and crashed as I can always just throttle up and recover if I have enough altitude, even in heavy jets.. so either I'm one hell of a pilot or this game is a bit unrealistic. What do you think, do you think it even comes close to a real plane?

    • @jfavignano
      @jfavignano  2 года назад

      You can't expect a lot of realism from the default airplanes but I can say I really like this sim. It has it's pros and cons but more positive than the negative! 3rd party airplanes are the way to go, they have their own physics compared.

      Sim is getting improved that's for sure. But if you want realism... at this point Xplane is the closes thing you can get. We gotta wait for Xplane 12 tho.
