I love your video on why field invasions no longer occur and this is a great look at a smaller story within that story. And I had always wondered what was with that Boggs horse moment! Keep up the great work.
Thanks for the deep dive into a great topic , Professor! I'm glad we don't see the violence today like we used to see from the fans back in the day. My Uncle Pauley got hit in the back of the head with a D battery at Shea Stadium in 1976. He still has the imprint of the positive side of the battery on his head, and shows it off every Thanksgiving. He told me that's the only reason beers cost so much nowadays. it's so that people don't drink too much and throw batteries around.
Greatest broadcaster of all time. "High up in the heavens the rockets are going off, down on the field thousands of youngsters pouring out of the stands."
A day I’ll never ever forget. October 26th, 1996! When Charlie Hayes caught the last out along the third base side foul territory. I was 15 and it was the first WS I saw my team win! I was jumping like a madman in our second floor Brooklyn apartment! Amazing memories!
Well, if you take on field celebrations out of the game after a Championship, then what is left, just thousands of Zombie like fans clapping from the stands. The restrictions are due to the posible damages to the field and the structure of the stadium. It's simple like that, the thing about security is BS.
It's definitely much less about the condition of the field itself and more about player safety - as players are viewed by management as multi-million dollar investments - in addition to avoiding potential lawsuits from fans who get injured on-field during a celebration.

Thanks for sharing. You're right about high beer prices. It's one part of stadium crowd control.
I liked hearing vin scully say "youngsters"

Great video bro!
Keep in mind that Mo Vaughn rode a horse at Fenway Park after the Red Sox won the AL East division title in 1995!
I had no idea. Perhaps Boggs got the idea from Vaughn.
Wade Boggs is an unreal hitter legit legit legit

My friends' parents got me a plaque with a photo of Boggs on the horse. I never really understood it. I'm not sure they did, but now I do.
Wade Boggs would have loved this video. May he rest in peace.
He's not dead haha
When you bat over .360 four times in your career, you can ride a horse if you want to.
🤣
When you bat .328 for your career
Wow, I had to go to Baseball Almanac to confirm that.
It was foreplay

Fans don't belong on the field. Period. Cut the crap.
