Boggs was the first to ever go deep for number 3000. Now there are 3
WesleyAPEX jeter and a-rod
@@nifytoaster3140 And Jeter is the only All time yankee to do it what im meanung that hes the only true Yankee to hit 3000 cause Boggs and Arod played for diffrent teams Jeter played with the Yankess His whole Career
@@ericmonaco4509 Yeah, Jeter has the most career hits with the Yankees and a number of similar records. All three players were very important Yankee players at one point or another, each helping the team with championships with Jeter winning the most obviously.
Jeter's was vs Tampa ironically.
Boggs was one of the most unlikely dudes to do it. He averaged like 5 homers a year, lol.
That guy got crushed at home haha
Lol yea and Boggs stepped right around it like nothing even happened. Good job by all parties involved
That dude must have been thinking it was going to be one of those moments when hundreds of people flooded the field like when Hank Aaron broke the HR record. Oops...crowd left him hanging lol
security moves so stiff, 連勝文都比他們軟
i could not stop laughing hysterically at that
That's definitely the most crowded the Trop has ever been
Yeah they were terrible nit they had Boggs and Canseco
Yeah It was even less crowded during the 08' world series
iRanger722 Lol, the first two games of the 2008 World Series were at Tropicana and both were sold out, you moron.
iRanger722 actually during the World Series they opened up seating that’s usually closed off and every game was sold out. We have awful attendance, we all know that, but you don’t have to fucking lie about it lol.
And its not mostly Red Sox/Yankees fans
I really dig those old Devil Rays uniforms haha.
Me too . I wish they brought those 1998-2000 Devil Rays uniforms.
They will eventually... i remember this. I was there...same section...a few seats away but I was screaming...happy for Wade and our "Devil Rays"...
Same. They were unique and I even liked their Forest Green unis they wore in the 00s, but the new Rays ones are boring
Mike Youngblood green is my favorite color too including blue
Everything is just so retro.
RIP Boss Hog
That's the most people I've ever seen at Tropicana Field
+Joe Kidd I think the reality of baseball in Tropicana Field combined with a losing team settled in.Its a terrible place to watch baseball.
+Joe Kidd The Rays have one of the highest TV ratings in MLB so people do care. They just don't care about watching it at the Trop which is nowhere near Tampa.
+Joe Kidd I'm glad the Giant's and mariners never moved to the Trop. If anything i'd prefer an expansion team over teams being moved to another city.
+JuicyPlayer I live there and it's very close. Not near is not accurate.
atleast it is cool unlike the other stadiums that are steamy. itt actually has decent promotions
What a way to honor his memory, may he rest in peace
@@FrosstKatt I appreciate you for that lol
always sunny reference (S10, E1)-- for those who don't realize mr. joe pavlik knows boggs is still alive. watch the episode if you haven't as it's larious 🫡
He'd be rolling in his grave if he could see this right now.
😂 living
Bro he's still alive
Boggs in his prime was beautiful to watch...He could intentionally foul off pitch after pitch until he got one he liked
Boggs deserved this. He hit less than 200 home runs in his career, but this had to have been his favorite.
It's kind of weird seeing fans in that stadium. Cool moment no doubt.
It's weird because it's not Opening Day or against New York/Boston
TB Dark Or the playoffs.
TB Dark meh no one shows up for Boson/NY games either anymore....bandwagon fans down here.
I agree. go rays
What playoff?
Boggs will always be in my mind the greatest pure contact hitter along side tony Gwynn, pail molitor and Ichiro
Rod Carew too.
Pete Rose?
I guess he means the best in the last 40 years...
@@DudeInOhio85 you mean a hitter who batted below 300 and just happened to play a really long time?
Ty Cobb
LMAO that kid gets tackled.
Kudos to those security officers! Man.....would love to have more hitters of Wade Boggs caliber in the MLB again.
Is this the same Boggs that drank over a hundred beers on a plane the day before he played?
Allegedly
I think it was like 600 Million beers
6 million beers. Some people think it's a myth.
If he retired after the 1989 season he'd have a .352 lifetime Batting Average, 4th best ever. 1,183 Games Played would've still qualified him on the all-time list. It'd be even higher had he quit after '88. Still 1000+ games. Was less than 10 years in the majors though...... Still a. 328 lifetime BA isn't too shabby.
The guy who caught the ball, Mike Hogan, didn't ask for anything. He just wanted to personally hand it to Boggs. Boggs still gave him an autographed jersey and bat. The Rays gave him season tickets for the 2000 season.
When Aaron broke Ruths HR record you have those 2 fans you always see come out and congratulate Aaron. No problem, no aggressive cops. They were treated humane. 25 years later now youre treated like the worst, most vial criminal on the planet for getting on the field. There once was a trust and love for our own people and our country. Now its become a communist/socialist tyrannical nightmare
That fan got DROPPED by security 🤣🤣🤣
I was born and raised in Boston and Wade Boggs was one of the best hitters we ever had.
What's most amazing is how he batted over .360 for a 4-year span from 1985-1988. That's only a few points shy of Ty Cobb's MLB record BA of .366
Well it's just 4 years, Cobb did it in 24 seasons.
2015 A-Rod hit for his 3000th hit too..... It's an A-bomb from A-Rod...
Arod is a disgrace to the game
whoever tackled the fan that ran on the field, pure savage
The man. The legend. Rest In Peace wade
Wade is not dead, just FYI.
Lol hilarious.
Wade Boggs was one of the best!
Same Thing Happened With Derek Jeter Jeter Got His 3,0000 Hit On A Homer
@@classicsonic4903 A-Rod also did it.
I was there at there at this game, thank you to my grandparents on taking me to this (and the previous 3 games because he was so close) great game. History!
Wade Boggs spent some time of his childhood in Puerto Rico, specifically in the Ramey Air Force Base area in the town of Aguadilla, where his father was stationed 3 years. Then he came back to play winter ball for the Bayamón Vaqueros (Cowboys) in the 1981-82 season, hitting .354 in the 41 (out if 61) games he played, needing 32 more plate appearances to qualify for the batting title.
Nice! Does he speak Spanish?
@@rafaelrincon133 Nunca lo he escuchado hablándolo...
You don't get to 3000 hits by pitchers giving it to ya, way to go Boggs pure hitter!
That fan that got tackled looks like he already tried to get stopped, his shirt is totally ripped open on the back.....
0:41 look what happened in the back
Baseball is missing pure hitters for average like Wade Boggs, Tony Gwyn, George Brett, and John Olerud. Its the reason baseball is so boring. The other day, watching a Cubs vs Cardinals game, there were 24 strikeouts and 7 walks between both teams. Only 7 total hits. Cubs Lost 9-3. All runs on homeruns, a few hits, and a few walks. BORING!!
And of course there was a dbag who ran onto the field.
Most people I've ever seen in that building.
Boggs almost went an entire season without an infield pop up.
Did he do that after drinking 71 beers?
Legend. Rest in peace.
?
He’s still alive
@@playlistsforwhenimbored3070 May he rest in peace.
@@fiends8908 His ghost visits me whenever I drink too many beers on an airplane.
@nemesisgenius What a player Wade Boggs was. God rest his soul.
how about some discussion over that guy getting pummeled by John Candy and two other goons not allowing him to congratulate boggs, lmao. what a vicious hit! that fat guy could have been a legendary sumo wrestler like E. Honda.
Chicken man was my favorite ball player as a kid. 👍🏼
Maybe the worst curveball in the history of the game. A Hall of famer like Boggs would obviously make him pay...
A bit of an irony that a player not known for power reaches 3,000 by way of the home run.
Rest in peace home run. Boggs is living and resides in Florida. I think y’all are thinking of Tony Gwynn.
Rays legend. RIP.
He's still alive
In our hearts :(
Nicholas Radakovich he's still alive
Nicholas Radakovich he's still alive
Of course he's still alive. Alive in the memories he gave millions of people before he left this world.
I'll miss you Boggsy! You were the greatest!
I was there ! Feel blessed . Got a commemorative souvenir card . Last I checked it was worth 50 dollars
Boggs had that Iconic batting stance. Soon as I saw that stance it was like I was 16 again watching a Yankees game
12 years later, Jeter hit a HR for his 3000th hit
I was at Derek's 3000th hit game. Unbelievable, I will never forget it.
Wish I have enough money to visit USA and watch the Yankees play their game... :(
Johann Hartono And now A-Rod.
Gungistoker Yeah!! :D
And now DEEZ NUTS HA GOT HEEM
A Rod and jeter did the sane thing
Big-time kudos to the security near Wade Boggs for keeping that psycho away from him and let him be able to revel in the moment instead of having it being spoiled by that jerk!
tony Gwynn, wade bogg, miguel cabrera, albert pujols the best batters ever
The AL East is the only division to have someone hit a home run for their 3000th hit.
He retired with 3,010 hits. He looks like he could still play.
he must have wanted a home run like that for years
I would think he would've gone the opposite field.
I was at that game, every time he hit I remember so many flashes going off, everyone had a disposable camera trying to capture it lol
Did you see that guy get tackled?
lol
Wade Boggs, what a strange career. Didn't Tony Gwynn get 3000 the same day?
tubenachos no tony got it the night before but it's still weird
They have fans???
Andrew Liang fuck you
they do
they just never show up
because Tropicana field despite having a lot of character to it is a total shithole
to bad that 3000 hit didn't come in a red Sox uniform
I don't think he wants to be remembered as a Red Sox....
+Santia Camacho which is why they retired his number
That dude got smoked at home at :42 😂
High school curve
The legendary Billy Hatcher as first base coach
Who was the guy that ran onto the field and got tackled?
Dude, that guy at home plate!
Great moment in my life and I am sure in his life.... If you have something to say,,,you better back it up.... I hate posers...show me what you got!
Congrats Boggs, but he threw ya a cookie !!!
Probably drank 42 beers the night before.
May the ghost of Wade Boggs rest in peace.
COMO EN UN INSTANTE SE VUELVE A SER NIÑO.
Boggs smoked that.
Wade Boggs= Walter White
Illuminati: "STAY RIGHT WHERE YOU ARE"
Watched this live I was 8 years old , just turned 30 yesterday :(
I laughed for a good 3 mins at the guy getting tackled at home plate LMAO
You can tell how much everyone loves wade. You can tell they are all bros lol
Still can't believe Tampa Bay had the balls to retire his number.
Why? Its not that big of a deal.
Chris Harris
Please tell me you're joking? If you really think Tampa should have, you're not a baseball fan.
Nick R.
Oh no it's a baseball "traditionalist". People like you are the reason the sport is dying.
Chris Harris
So I ask you a question about why you think it's not a big deal, and your tampon pops out? Wow. Why the sport is dying?? Bahahahaha
Nick R.
You're the one who is up in arms over a team retiring the number of a legendary player who achieved one of his biggest milestones while playing for that team. What is so wrong about retiring his number?
What a phenomenal player!!!!
I was there when this happened
There was a killer laser light show afterwards lol
Boggs was my favorite Yankees 3rd baseman. I hated that Steinbrenner traded him after winning the 96 WS. But then Brosius filled his gap nicely. Congrats to Wade on a wonderful career!
Boggs was never traded. He left as a free agent to Tampa after the 97 season.
@@Joseph-lz5er Thanks. I didn't know that.
it's amazing seeing that many people in the stands. WTG Wade!
Boggs also hit the 1st HR in Rays history
To do in his hometown too
Damn that gave me chills . Legendary
Woah 3000th was a homer. Really sick
I was at this game!
Hometown son 3000th
I have wade Boggs 3,000 hits bat
I am glad the benches werent clear;
Great player, but compare his theatrics to how Derek Jeter handled the exact scenario.
Jeter Knew This Was Exact Scenario That Boggs Was In
And?
baseball was a bit over the top back then compare to when jeter played
He crushed that pitch! 💪🏼💯
oh come on now, any decent ballplayer would have crushed that pitch.
***** so because it was a historical moment that makes it ok to groove one? no way. these are professionals.
nocontrol628 I think it was supposed to be a slider in on his hands, but Boggs got his hands in and turned on it.
0:13 is his 2009 topps card.
Astounding
Wow Boggs
Dude got tackled hahaha
I was there
wast jeters a homer too
Um yea 12 years later. Boggs was the first to do it on a home run. Jeter was the second.
I was at this game haha.
I feel bad for your team back then
Were you related to the idiot that ran on the field?
@@dmoneyblanco9326they were a new team who cares, still had fun.
First
Kissing home plate was such a Boggs move, complete primadona, contrast this with jeter who also hit a h r for num 3000, Boggs was unbelievably cringe his whole career
