If he retired after the 1989 season he'd have a .352 lifetime Batting Average, 4th best ever. 1,183 Games Played would've still qualified him on the all-time list. It'd be even higher had he quit after '88. Still 1000+ games. Was less than 10 years in the majors though...... Still a. 328 lifetime BA isn't too shabby.

Wade Boggs spent some time of his childhood in Puerto Rico, specifically in the Ramey Air Force Base area in the town of Aguadilla, where his father was stationed 3 years. Then he came back to play winter ball for the Bayamón Vaqueros (Cowboys) in the 1981-82 season, hitting .354 in the 41 (out if 61) games he played, needing 32 more plate appearances to qualify for the batting title.

Boggs was my favorite Yankees 3rd baseman. I hated that Steinbrenner traded him after winning the 96 WS. But then Brosius filled his gap nicely. Congrats to Wade on a wonderful career!
